Natasha POV
That evening, I spent an hour making sure both girls’ dresses for the ceremony were ready and wrinkle-free. I wanted everything to be perfect! I pulled out the dress that I had picked for myself. A silver gown that sparkled in the light with Royal Blue beading throughout, I couldn’t help but grin as I looked at it. The girls’ dresses were Royal Blue with silver sparkles, and they all complimented each other. Tomorrow was a very important day where everyone would officially meet the future leaders of the Crimson Moon pack.
Most packs wouldn’t allow a woman to take the Alpha position. Boys were prayed for and if no boys were born, the mate of the girls would be the Alpha. “Not here!”, I whispered as I watched my girls sleep. Xander and I had discussed this before we even knew we were having twin daughters. We both believed that girls could lead a pack just as well as boys. This would be their birthright and no one would stop it.
I walked to my bedroom and sprawled out on the bed. Xander stood up from the chair where he had been overlooking plans for a new school and set them down on a table. He walked to the bed and laid down next to me, rolling to wrap his arms around me. “What are you thinking about, love?”, Xander asked.
“I’m kind of worried about tomorrow. What if something goes wrong? What if something bad happens? I’m concerned that other factions will try to attend. These girls are special and if something were to happen to them…” I began to tear up and speech became difficult.
“I have spoken to the Vampire King, the Fey Queen, and the Warlock King and I have assurances from all three that they will not be attending, nor will any of their people. No one is going to do anything to hurt our daughters. I promise”, Xander said as he nuzzled his face in my neck. My heart rate slowed as I relaxed in the arms of my partner. I couldn’t imagine life without him. As I lay wrapped up next to him, I drifted off to sleep.
Alex POV
Once I was sure Natasha was asleep, I slowly rolled my arm out from under her and moved off the bed. I had been out of the office for several days and I had work that needed to be done. I walked to my office and sat down behind my desk. Papers had been stacking up and even though Marcus had been here, there were things that only I could deal with.
As I sat there reading a treaty from the Harvest Moon pack, I suddenly felt as though I was being watched. I looked up and there stood Colleen, a rogue witch who I had met about a year ago when I was looking for someone to do me a favor. I leapt from my chair and a cold look crossed my face as I sneered at her.
“For Heaven’s sake woman! You about gave me a heart attack!” I looked around the room and saw nothing out of the ordinary. “How did you get in here?” I growled.
“Seriously? How do you think?” Colleen replied as she walked to the chair in front of his desk and made herself comfortable. She was a very beautiful woman and she knew it. Tall and thin with white blond hair, ample breasts and a rounded ass. She knew how to use the assets God gave her for her own gain and she dressed accordingly. Men would fall over themselves to give her what she wanted, most men anyway. Alpha Xander was just as strong willed and getting what she was due wouldn’t be easy.
I figured she used a portal since I hadn’t heard a door open. I continued to stare her down as I asked, “Why are you here?” I knew what she wanted, but there was absolutely no way I was going to bend.
“You know why I’m here.” Colleen had a bored look in her bright green eyes as she admired her bright red nail polish. “We had a deal and now you will hold up your end of the bargain.”
“I will not!” I roared as I jumped up out of my chair. “You will leave now!”
Colleen chuckled, “I certainly will not. I will get what I came for sooner or later. It will hurt less if you just hand my payment over now.”
I rubbed my hand over my face. If I had time, I could figure a way out of this. I just needed to stall until I could come up with something else that she would want more. “There must be something else that you want. Anything. Just name it and it will be yours.”
Colleen looked up at me and stated, “There is absolutely nothing else that I want. You made a pact with me, and it is binding. I will leave for tonight, but since I know you are not going to follow through, I will take what’s mine and you won’t know when. You can try to stop me, but you won’t succeed.” She stood up. “I bid you farewell, Alpha Xander”. Then, she was gone.
I had no idea what I was going to do to fix this problem.
