She headed out of the guest parking and drove off back to the office. Cyrus came out of
the hospital talking on his phone. He held his finger up for me to wait.
“Yeah, let me call you back,” Cyrus said, ending his call.
“Was Sarai going back to her office?” Cyrus asked.
“Yep, and I need to get over to check on my mom and head to the gym to get a workout
in before the next race,” I said.
“Reece told me you were hanging at the house the other day. You good?” Cyrus asked.
“I’m good, don’t worry. Your star driver isn’t going back down the road of stolen cars
anytime soon,” I explained.
“Just checking in on you. The money and fame can go any day,” Cyrus said.
“I got you, man,” I said and drove to my mom’s house.
I pulled up an hour later, and she was outside gardening in her yard. I parked in front of
her driveway and removed my keys. I shut the door, walked up on her, and kissed her cheek.
“What’s up, old lady?”
She scowled at me, and I cracked up at her facial expression.
“Sorry, beautiful.”
“Grab a pair of gloves and help me plant these roses,” she said.
“Where did you get roses from?” I questioned.
“A friend brought them over to me,” she told me.
“What friend? Please, don’t tell me you’re dating?” I questioned.
“Maybe,” she teased.
“Ughh… I’m going to be sick.”
“Aren’t you dating?” she questioned.
“Nope.”
