The door swung open, and Vera, the general's daughter, entered the room with a beaming smile. She quickly approached Keon, the alpha, who stood motionless, his gaze showing a mix of irritation and indifference. “My darling how are you?”Vera asked, her voice filled with familiarity, embraced Keon, wrapping her arms around his neck. Liliana, who had been watching from the corner, felt uneasy. She knew Keon wasn't fond of public displays of affection, especially from someone as clingy as Vera. Keon remained silent, his expression unreadable, as Vera continued to gush over him. Liliana wondered about the nature of their relationship, sensing that there was more to it than met the eye. Unaware of Keon's discomfort, Vera carried on talking rapidly. Keon's eyes met Liliana's, as if challenging her to speak Meeting Keon's gaze made Liliana shiver. She knew she was intruding on private matters, but Keon's silence unnerved her. She wanted to leave the tense situation and return to her duties. Keon stayed silent, his expression unreadable, as Vera continued to shower him with attention. Liliana sensed a complex dynamic between them, feeling there was more to their relationship than met the eye. Despite this, Keon remained silent, fully focused on Vera, who continued to talk animatedly. Liliana sensed an undercurrent of unspoken emotions, witnessing a long-standing power struggle between Keon and Vera. "What are you after, Vera?" Vera's smile wavered briefly before she regained composure, her eyes determined. "I just wanted to see how you're doing, darling. You've been so occupied lately." Vera glanced at Liliana, narrowing her eyes. "Vera, this doesn't involve you." Vera's expression fell, but she quickly put on a smile. "Of course, darling." I just thought it was...interesting...that you're spending so much time with your maid." Liliana's eyes dropped, her heart racing with anticipation. She knew she was in for a tongue-lashing from Vera. Keon's expression turned cold, his eyes flashing with warning. "Vera, don't." Vera glanced at Liliana ignoring Keon words, her eyes narrowing. "And you, what's your name?" Liliana hesitated, unsure of how much to disclose. "I-I'm Liliana, your grace." Vera's smile grew wider. "Liliana, how quaint. And what do you do here, Liliana?" Liliana felt a surge of discomfort under Vera's intense scrutiny. "I'm just a maid, your grace." Vera raised an eyebrow. "Just a maid? I think you're more than that, Liliana. You seem to be quite... invested in our conversation." Liliana's eyes dropped, her heart racing with anticipation. She knew she was in for a tongue-lashing from Vera. Keon's voice cut through the tension. "Vera, that's enough.” Vera's expression fell, but she quickly regained composure with a smile. "Of course, darling. I was just making a conversation.” Liliana knew she had to be cautious. She didn't want to provoke Vera, but she also didn't want to appear weak in front of Keon. Vera's smile widened, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Oh, I'm just getting started, darling. You're so uptight, always so concerned with appearances. Can't you just relax for once?" Liliana shivered as Vera's words oozed with venom. She understood she was witnessing a deep-seated conflict between Keon and Vera, one that went beyond a simple disagreement. Keon's voice was calm but sharp. "Vera, you're stepping over the line.Leave now, before I loose my patience.” As Vera left the room, Liliana breathed a sigh of relief. She had never seen Keon so upset, his eyes burning with intense emotion. Keon's gaze flicked to Liliana, his expression softening. "Liliana, you may go. I'll call for you later." Liliana nodded, her heart still racing from the confrontation. She realized she had witnessed something significant, something that delved into the heart of Keon's enigmatic past. Leaving the room, Liliana couldn't shake the feeling that she was entangled in a web of intrigue, one that threatened to dismantle everything she cherished.
