Helen paid for lunch and said goodbye to the other patrons. I accompanied Janie to her car and made sure she had our correct cell phone numbers. The fresh air of the outdoors reminded me why I preferred to avoid crowded establishments. Janie opened the car door and put one foot on the floorboard. “Wait until two-thirty before you approach the house, just in case she gets sidetracked with something.
