The Broken Alpha
"I can't believe we did that" I laughed at my best friend as we walked out of the packed house. "Did you see the expression after the cake slid down the front of her, I swear if looks could kill we would have been dead a million times over!" she laughed so hard she stumbled almost falling down the stairs.
"Alexis Nyx Andrews!" my father's voice boomed from the main door. "Oh snap" I whispered as I turned to look at him with wide eyes. "You too Olivia Joan Smithe," my father said as he stepped aside and motioned for us to go back inside the pack house. "The Alpha wants to see you, in his office now." We moved slowly to pass by him to reenter the pack house and head to the Alpha’s office on the third floor. I heard a low growl come from my das’s throat.
In all my 17 years I had never heard my father growl at me let alone anyone else usually he had a calm demeanor. This must have really pissed him off. All I could do was whimper, and if I had been in my wolf form my tail would be between my legs without a doubt. This all started with this brilliant idea I had yesterday, or at least I thought that it was a brilliant idea at the time. Now I am thinking that it is one of the worst ones I have ever thought of.
Yesterday the Alpha of our pack Bradon Stone had sent Libby and I into town to pick up his niece Tiffany’s birthday cake. It was her sweet 16 birthday. Well I had pitched this brilliant idea to the baker of putting a catapult inside the cake so that when she went to blow out her candles another smaller cake would pop out of the top and smack her right in the kisser. Tiffany is in the same class as Libby and I but she is also the Alpha"s niece.
Needless to say we don’t get along, she thinks because her uncle is the Alpha, she is the princess of the world and can tell everyone what to do when he is not around. I thought this would be the perfect time to teach her a lesson in front of the whole pack.
The cake we picked out was perfect. It was a beautiful five tier wedding style cake that on the inside was strawberry shortcake, on the outside the decorations were that of different types of the most vibrant butterflies in various poses. The cake that was to smack her right in that smug face of hers was going to be red velvet with as much cream cheese frosting that they could get on it. I don’t know how the baker did it but he did.
The party was supposed to be a 1920’s style theme. The pack out did themselves with the decorations and music, everything was perfect and when it came time the cake was wheeled in and we all sang happy birthday and just as she got close enough for her to blow out the candles the baker hit the button and the tier that was set off from the others went flying and smacked her right in the face and slid down her dress and hit the floor with a loud spat. Since her dress was white sequined, the red velvet was as bright as the sun.
At first when the cake hit her, she was in shock as she looked at herself up and down. That's when she realized what happened then she screamed so loud it was as if someone had tried to kill her. The whole pack burst out laughing so much that some were on the floor rolling and others had tears flowing down their cheeks.
Tiffany was stomping her feet at them and yelling at them to stop, which just made it worse because the more she stomped the more cake fell off of either her face or her dress. the whole place was in an uproar even more. That’s when we took our exit or at least attempted to .
We took our time as we slowly walked to sit on the couch across the room away from his desk, "Don't worry James, although what the girls did was wrong it was funny as hell to see Tiffany finally get what she deserves for bullying other pack members.." he told all of us as he laughed. "That being said I still have to put forth a punishment so no one thinks I am a pushover. I am trying to think of a punishment that we can all live with." he furrowed his brows in thought.
Libby and I looked at each other in shock. I guess it showed on our faces because he cleared his throat. Before he could say anything there was a deafening howl that came from the warriors that patrolled the borders of the property, alerting the whole pack that we had trespassers on the property. We all sniffed the air, "Rogues" we heard someone shout from outside the door.
"Get everyone to the panic rooms; James you are with me" Bradon mind linked everyone in the pack as he jumped up from behind his desk and turned to the picture window behind his desk. Both men jumped out of the window of the office, shattering the glass as they shifted into their wolf forms before hitting the ground in a full run. I grabbed Libby's hand and all but dragged her toward the door, as we got within about one hundred feet of it, it exploded with such force it knocked us off our feet and back onto the solid wood desk causing it to collapse under us.
Three giant wolves came through the huge gaping hole in the wall where the door used to be, as I sat up I gasped they were huge. I had never seen men or wolves for that matter as big as them. They began moving menacingly towards us, I shook Libby trying to get her to move, but she was out cold. I had to protect my best friend. I went into battle mode as I suddenly shifted, not caring if I tore my clothes or how many wolves there were I was going to die trying as I bared my teeth at them and growled. I have never had to fight other than in training so I was hoping that if I died I could at least take one of these bastards with me. I kept baring my teeth as I moved towards them. The next thing I knew all three wolves looked at each other and shifted, tucking their tails between their legs and bolted down the hall. A howl sounded in the night as I ran to the window and looked out to see about fifteen wolves running into the woods.
