Lalisa's Point of View
Minutes later, her parents need to go, and she will be left here alone with me. After her parents got out of the room, she started looking at me with adoration.
"Are all angels as beautiful as you?" She asked me while her chin rested on her right hand, looking at me curiously and interestingly.
"I don't know, but maybe." She smiled more widely when I talked to her.
"You are not just beautiful; you also have a good voice. Are you allowed to talk to humans?" She asked, which made me wonder too.
"To be honest, this is the first time that a human could see me and even talk to me; that's why I talk to you too."
"Am I going to die?" I was caught off guard when she asked me; I didn't know how to answer that. "I still want to live for my family, especially my unnie who is always taking care of me, but she has already forgotten to take care of herself."
"Do you love your sister that much that you are willing to fight your sickness?" She nodded eagerly.
"I have been having a heart issue since I was five years old, and I have been fighting it for four years. She has been taking care of me for four years, and soon I will turn ten years old, but I think I can no longer celebrate it with my unnie because sooner or later I'm going to die." She started crying, and I walked near her. I sat on the bed facing her.
"When is your birthday?" She looked up at me and wiped her tears.
"Tomorrow." I felt sad for her; she was going to die today, and she couldn't celebrate her birthday anymore. "Can you tell God to give me more time to be with my unnie?"
"Can you tell me more about your unnie?" Instead of answering, I asked her, to which she nodded.
"Her name is Jennie Dyanne Kim; she is 23 years old, and she is studying at Hansford University since she is a smart and intelligent woman. Well, she is kind of cold and looks intimidating, but she is a softie, kind, nice, sweet, and a good sister. She only had two friends because some are just befriending her for fame and money." She all smiles while talking about her sister, which makes my heart melt. "Do you think my unnie is beautiful too?"
I chuckled.
"Yes, she is as beautiful as you are. You two look alike; you are like twins." She chuckled and giggled.
"When is God planning to give my sister a love life?" I laughed wholeheartedly. "She is NBSB and NGSB."
"NBSB? NGSB?" I tilted my head a bit and she nodded.
"No Boyfriend Since Birth or No Girlfriend Since Birth." That's what it means, but what do boyfriend and girlfriend mean?
"What are boyfriend and girlfriend?"
"It's a stage of a relationship. If you like someone, you need to court her, ask her if she can be your girlfriend, and if you two are sure about each other, you can get engaged, then get married. In short, a couple."
"So she has never been in a relationship?" she nodded.
"Can angels fall in love?"
"The Creator created us to guide and take care of souls. We can't feel sadness, hunger, anger, or happiness." But why did I feel sad about her condition? Why did I feel I wanted to help her live longer? Why did I get hurt by what her unnie just said?
"That sucks, so you can't fall in love?"
"I don't know, maybe."
"Can I ask you a favor?"
"Sure."
"If I die, can you look for my sister? Can you be her guardian angel?"
"If that's what you want, I'm willing to do that."
"Can I touch you?" I just nodded, and she slowly tried to touch my face.
I was surprised when she could touch me; I could feel how warm her hands were.
"Why are you crying?" I didn't notice that I teared up; she wiped it for me. "I think it is unusual to see an angel tearing up."
"You're right, hehe." She removed her hand from my face, and I composed myself.
"Unnie, you have nice skin. What is your skincare routine?"
"What is a skincare routine?"
"You don't have that in heaven?" I nodded. "Wow, God made you beautiful."
I was about to talk again, but her sister arrived, carrying a paper bag of food.
"Who are you talking to, Ella?" She sat on the chair beside the bed.
"Secret." Ella winked at me, and I chuckled.
"From what I know, the doctor didn't inject anything into you." She prepared the food for her little sister. "Here, eat this, then take a rest. Therefore, we can go home, and we can hang out in the park."
"I have been eating healthy food and resting enough, but God has already decided what my future will be." Her aunt looked at her worriedly.
"What are you talking about?" I can see the sadness on her face. I want to embrace her and tell her everything would be fine, but I can't.
"Sooner or later, I will be going to paradise with others, and I promise I will be watching you there." Her sister teared up, but she immediately wiped it.
"Ella, don't talk like that. I still want you to stay here with me, and I can live without you. Don't give up and fight your heart disease."
"Don't worry, unnie; if I die, someone will take care of you for me. She is willing to be your guardian angel, and she will stay by your side until death." Her unnie shook her head, and she started crying. She hugged Ella tightly, hiding her crying face.
"Ella, don't leave, Unnie, please. Your birthday is tomorrow, and we are still going to celebrate it. I promise to take you to Namsan Tower; you said you wanted to count the stairs there. Ella promises me you will not leave me alone here." Ella buried her face in her sister's chest, and her unnie's chin was on top of her head.
"Promise me, Ella, please." She gave her pinky, and Ella hesitantly locked their pinkies. "I love you so much, Ella."
"I love you too, Unnie."

I left them to give them private time with each other; I can't watch them anymore. It's so sad to watch them cry. I want to help them, but I can't.
It is hard to be an angel; you can see or watch the different hardships of humans. It's my first time to guide a soul, but I felt so sad and hurt just watching them.
"God, I thought we couldn't feel anything, but why did I feel sadness and hurt when I watched them? Can you give Ella a longer life? She doesn't deserve this; her unnie still needs her, and she can't live without her little sister." I'm staring at the sky, standing on top of the Namsan Tower, and my wings are out.
I read in an old book about angels that we can ask God for something, and he will grant it.
"I, Lalisa, the assigned angel for the soul named Ella Mckenzie Kim, I am asking you to give her a longer life. I'm willing to become a sinner, and I'm going to accept any punishment just to grant my wish to give the soul a longer life. God, spare her life, just take mine instead."
