The instant I discovered that Ava had departed to lend a hand to Ember without any assistance, I was filled with a sense of dread, for I was deeply concerned about her safety. She was still in the process of familiarizing herself with her own powers and had only undergone a brief period of instruction on how to defend herself in a battle.
When Ava and I were finally reunited, a wave of relief washed over me upon learning that she was okay. However, as we made our way back to the palace, I couldn’t help but notice that she appeared excessively exhausted, which sparked a slight concern within me.
The intensity of my panic heightened as my wolf’s heightened senses alerted me to the fact that there was something off about Ava as she undressed before going to sleep.
