10. Announce

A week ago, Draven announced he would be the leader of the Garnet Pack, replacing Charis. At that time, he spoke passionately, like a presidential candidate trying to get people to vote for him. Now, in this cold and big meeting room, Draven was very nervous because all the higher-ups of the pack were here with various facial expressions and gazes fixed on him. Oryn had already set up a second chair, which he put next to Charis's. Draven and Charis sat at the end of the conference table. "Thank you for making the time to come. I'm sorry to have called all of you so suddenly." She could feel that Draven was very nervous because she could feel his legs shaking. "Perhaps some of you can guess why I called a sudden meeting. As you know, Draven meditated in the sacred cave for a week, and now he is sitting next to me. Can you guess a reason why Draven is with us?" Charis observed the faces of the higher-ups of the pack, some of them showing annoyed and angry expressions. "I didn't believe it until I saw it in person." Emric had his hand crossed and his blue eyes looking at Draven. He happened to be sitting near Draven. Charis sighed. "Draven just got his wolf, and he has to train himself to switch bodies with his wolf." Charis looked at Emric. Emric shrugged his shoulders. "Isn't it just a matter of switching? What is the problem?" Charis clicked her tongue, annoyed. "Apart from that Draven has to train first. Have you forgotten? Shouldn't we have waited twenty-four hours before switching bodies with our wolves? Our bodies need adjustment." Emric rests his chin in the palm of his right hand and looks at Draven with angry eyes. "How could I ever forget? I'll believe it when I see him as a wolf." Draven disliked Emric even more. How could he shut up Emric, who didn't look like he liked it? "Don't worry about it. I'll show you." Emric snorted. Draven is so arrogant. He should be the Alpha, not Draven! Why didn't Charis hand over the leadership to him? Isn't he also worthy of being a leader? He is also from the Swinton family! "Are you two getting married after this?" "Sure, of course. I've prepared everything." Charis's answer was calm. Whispers were heard because werewolves had a sharp sense of hearing. Draven feels dizzy. Because he can hear everything around him. He groaned softly and put his hands over his ears. Charis and Oryn realize it. "Draven." Charis panicked and touched Draven's backhand. "Alpha." Oryn tapped Draven on the shoulder because he was worried. Emric and all the higher-ups fell silent and looked at Draven. They knew why Draven was acting that way. After the room went quiet, Draven could breathe normally again and took his hand off his ear. "Draven." Charis looked at Draven with guilty and worried on her face. Did she do the wrong thing by holding a meeting to tell the higher-ups that Draven had turned into a werewolf right now? Draven's lips smiled slightly. "I'm fine. I'll get used to this." Charis bites her bottom lip. She hoped that Draven could soon get used to his body's condition, which was no longer a human. "Isn't it too soon, Luna?" asked a woman; she is an elder. Charis raises her brows. "Too soon? What do you mean?" "Your mate who turned into a werewolf." The older woman wearing sunglasses assessed Draven. Because many higher-ups looked down on her and didn't trust her, Charis often decided things without asking for their opinion. For example, now, Charis hastily turned Draven into a werewolf, set a wedding date, and was about to make Draven an Alpha. "No. I don't think so." Charis shook her head. "Draven agrees. I'm not forcing him at all." "I'm not accusing you of forcing it." The older woman draws her brows together. "You often decide things without asking our opinion." Charis responded to the elder's words calmly. "I'll ask your opinion if that's necessary. But in this case, it's my right. I don't need anyone else's opinion about who I should give my leadership to and who deserves it." Orin smiled. Charis is never afraid of anyone, and she can always silence others–unable to answer–because of her sarcastic words. *** "You've become a werewolf?" Madison scanned Draven up and down. "Congratulations on successfully knocking on the door of the Moon Goddess' heart." Madison hugged Draven with a pat on the back of her daughter's mate. Draven is awkward. Because he was never like this with his mother, but Madison was different. No wonder Charis can survive until now because the people around Charis always support her and are there for her. "Mom, Draven will be short of breath." Charis scolds her mother. Madison let go of her hug, then chuckled. "Sorry, son. I'm so happy." Draven nodded with a smile. "It's okay, Mom." He wasn't used to calling Madison by the name of mama. Madison patted Draven's arm with a big smile. "I'll make a nice meal to celebrate." She heads over to the kitchen happily. Charis took Draven to the family room, which was next to the living room. The family room is connected by a door leading to the swimming pool made of glass. They are sitting on the couch. "Draven." "Yes?" Draven's eyes traveled the family room, looking at a family photo frame. That is a picture of Charis as a baby with her parents. "When you were little, you were so adorable." Charis followed Draven's gaze, then her lips curved into a smile. "What about now?" Draven tilt of his lips. "Doesn't seem." Charis laughs quietly. "How did you look when you were little?" Draven muses. His brain dug up those buried deep memories. "Like this. Nothing has changed." "No way. There must be a difference." Charis doesn't believe it. "Like this." Draven is serious. "This handsome face of mine has not changed." Charis rolls her eyes. "Uh, I regret asking like that." Draven chuckled. "Why you bring me here? You want to talk about something?" It turned out that Draven could guess what Charis' purpose was for bringing him here. "Yes." Charis nods. "I know, I'm late asking this. Don't you regret it? Because now you've turned into a werewolf." Draven lowered his head with eyes staring at the cold white floor. Is he sorry? He searched for the answer in his heart. But he didn't find any answer. Does he have no regrets at all? What about his parents? Are his parents looking for him now? "I don't know." Draven shook his head. Maybe it's because he's only been here a few days, and he's only been a werewolf today, so he can't feel anything yet. "For now, I have no regrets." Charis bites her lower lip. Even though at that time, Draven was angry because she had forced the man to live here, and even Draven called her a kidnapper. Why did Draven change his mind so easily? "Oh, come on, Charis. Don't give yourself a headache. Wouldn't it be nice if Draven didn't feel sorry? That means he won't run away from here." Aria's voice echoed in Charis' head. Charis agreed with Aria's words. She should be grateful that Draven readily agreed without him needing to persuade. "You've met and seen for yourself how the higher-ups of the pack treat you and me." Her blue eyes lock on his gray ones. "Hope you can put up with those who don't like you." Draven nodded. "Yeah. Don't worry. I'll prove it to all of them and also prove to you that I deserve to be the Alpha for the Garnet Pack." He said confidently. He would not waste this opportunity. Because in the human world, he couldn't be a leader. "So one of the reasons you want to be a werewolf is because you want to be an Alpha?" Sam's voice echoed in Draven's head, who wasn't used to his presence. "Yes. One of them." Draven admits. Sam rolls his eyes. It turns out that Draven only wants power, not because he loves Charis or wants to help Charis from her responsibilities as a leader. "Your cell phone." Charis gives Draven's cell phone. Even Draven forgot about that thing, but what she heard, humans are very dependent on that sophisticated object. Draven looked at his cell phone, which was in off mode. "Is there a cell phone here?" Charis laughed. "Of course. We imitate humans. Everything in the human world is also in our world." His mouth and his eyes rounded up. "Wow. You guys are great." "We don't want to be out of date." Draven looked back at his phone. What is he going to do with this phone?
