This morning's atmosphere was enlivened by the chirping sound of a flock of birds perched on an oak tree branch next to Charis' room. It was as if the birds were consoling Charis, who was standing at the window of the room, who for the past two days had looked gloomy and restless. The concentration of the woman leading the Garnet Pack broke; she thought about her mate who was a human. What would happen if she brought her mate here? Will pack members accept him?
She was biting her exquisite nails. When she's anxious or unsure of what to do, she falls into a negative habit that she can't break. "Aria?"
Charis' call was answered lazily by her wolf. "Why?"
"I want to …." Charis stared intently at the red leaves that had fallen off the stems and flew away in the wind. She let out a long breath, indecisive. Fear of making the wrong decision.
Aria sighed. "I know what you're thinking." The two of them can understand each other's hearts since Aria is a wolf demon that lives in Charis' body. "I still don't like him. Not because he is a human, but rather because of his actions. He likes to drink alcohol. It doesn't go with you; you always try to avoid drinking like that."
Charis closes her eyes. "Just once have I met him. Not necessarily he is so."
"He must be an arrogant person."
"Why do you think that way?"
"Because none of the five people's faces look friendly and their appearance must also be considered." The wolf Charis really likes to think negatively of everyone Charis meets. "You are in charge of Garnet Pack. Later our mate will get the title of Alpha and lead this pack. The man must be worthy in terms of thought as well as appearance."
Charis drank the red wine in the footed glass until it was empty. "If you mind that he likes to drink alcohol, I do too sometimes." Charis looked at the photo frame on the nightstand, a photo of her as a child being carried by her late dad. Unfortunately, her dad didn't get to meet her mate. Her eyes got sad, but she quickly covered them up. "Aria, I don't give a damn about his appearance. Why aren't we happy? Now that we've found our mate. We don't have to wait hundreds, thousands, or even thousands of years."
Aria licked her hands. It was pointless to argue with Charis because she was so stubborn. "Yes, I am aware. We should feel happy. If you want to meet him, go ahead, but I find it difficult to accept. I'll have to see if he isn't a drunk and playboy human man." Aria's eyes became wider as she came to a realization. "Ah, I forgot about the playboy! If he turns out to be a playboy, I won't take it! You have never dated, so he too."
Charis socked her head, feeling dizzy. Aira was quite dramatic. "It seems natural for a human male who lives in the country, if he's a playboy or at least been in a relationship."
"I'll accept him if he only has three ex-girlfriends," she said. Aria would not change her requirements to accept her mate
Charis put the glass on the table. "Up to you." During these two days, she and her wolf never found a common agreement. Aria only let him bring their mate here, but it was difficult for her to accept.
A knock on the door distracts Charis from looking at the photo of her as a child that his father is holding. Charis approached the door and unlocked it. Her brow furrowed when she saw her mother and Griselda standing in front of her bedroom door. "What happened? Why come to my room so early?"
Charis was pushed back by Griselda. Madison, Charis' mother, looked left and right, after feeling safe, she closed the door room.
"What did happen, exactly?" Charis was confused. Surely the two people she loved the most brought very important news, because both of them acted suspiciously.
Griselda questioned, "Honestly, you've found your mate, haven't you?"
Charis's eyes were wide with disbelief. Why did Griselda ask like that? "What do you mean?"
Griselda breathed before saying, "Yesterday, I saw you approach five human men with a tense bodies. You're not the type of woman who comes up to men first. My body also tensed up when I first met Oryn and realized he was my mate. All werewolves have that response when they first meet their mate."
Charis was confused about what to answer. Is she being truthful? Why didn't she realize yesterday that it turned out that Griselda was following her? She saw her mother's curious face.
"Charis?" Madison held her daughter's hands together and stroked them gently.
"Why? Because he is a human?" Griselda guessed what had made Charis hesitant to tell.
Charis closes her eyes. Her mother and Griselda wouldn't have left her alone when they found out her mate was a human, would they?
"You want to have met and brought him here, right?" The minds of Aria and Charis connect. "Here, only your mother, Griselda, and Oryn can be trusted and always support you. We also need to get support from them regarding our mate."
Charis slowly nodded, agreeing with Aria. She couldn't bring their mate here alone; she had to ask for help. She looked at her mom and then at Griselda. "Yes, right. I've found my mate. He is a human."
Griselda and Madison held their breaths. Even though they already knew, they were still shocked.
"I don't know what to do." Charis looked at the cold white floor, her ten fingers intertwined.
"You want to meet him?" Madison took Charis's shoulder, which appeared frail. Her dark gaze met Charis' doubtful-looking blue eyes. "Charis?"
"Sure. But I have no idea where to look for him." Charis turned to face Griselda, who was laughing.
Griselda looked at Charis. "You forgot that we have a witch friend who is nice and not arrogant?"
Charis grinned broadly. "Oh, I can't forget Vespers."

In front of Charis, Griselda, and Madison was a man sitting on the floor with long straight black hair that was never combed and glasses hanging from his nose to conceal his purple eyes. Due to sleeping only two or three hours daily, dark circles are under the eyes. "What brings you all to my house?"
"It's been a long time, huh? We're not coming here." Griselda took a glance around. From the outside, Vesper's house looked nice, but the inside was a complete mess. It was difficult for them to locate a spot to step because numerous objects were lying on the floor.
"Yes. It has been some time." Vesper wanted to play the game immediately and was too lazy to engage in small talk.
"Vesper." Charis looked at the great witch who chose to stay in the world of humans. "I've met my mate."
Vesper was surprised, and then his face went back to normal. "Good. You're not alone any longer."
"Right. The problem is that my mate is a human."
Vesper furrowed his brow. "Wow. Unique destiny. Then?"
"I want to meet him. Can you find out where he is?" Charis gave Vesper a beseeching gaze.
Vesper took a deep breath out. It had been a long time since he had used the white crystal ball he had kept in the cupboard. "Yes, but it is not for free."
"I'll give you anything," said Charis. She's face glowed like the sun in the morning.
