Chapter 4

Nora’s POV “I’m telling you,” I said for what felt like the thousandth time, tipping the bottle and refilling my glass, “the guy shot him. And then he kidnapped me.” "Nora, you're clearly lying." Taylor said. “I am not lying,” I said, slamming the bottle down harder than necessary. “Why would I make that up?” Chelsea leaned back in her chair, eyes moving between the two of us like she was watching a tennis match. I'd been going on and on trying to convince Taylor that I was kidnapped after that night. I'd even taken her back to the apartment building where the whole thing happened after Wolf's men had dropped me off, but there was no shred of evidence left there. They had wiped everything clean. And now I look like some kind of storyteller. “Nora, I don’t believe you.” Taylor said, bluntly, raising her glass. "You are unbelievable." I said to her, shaking my head. "I've known you for 5 years and I know how dramatic you can be. This is probably one of those your make up stories." She said. "Why would I want to be dramatic with something as important as this?" I asked her and Chelsea laughed, shaking her head as she continued to watch us both. “God, I missed this,” Chelsea finally said, and Taylor then leaned forward with her elbows on the table. “Nora, we went back there and there was nothing. No blood. No hole. No police tape. Nothing.” Taylor said. “Thats because he cleaned it up!” I said. “He’s not an i***t. He’s literally Mafia.” “Wait. Mafia?” Chelsea blinked. “Yes!” “See? This is where it gets ridiculous. Why would a Mafia Boss capture you and then let you go?" Taylor asked, raising her hand. "You're clearly lying." “Why do I even bother telling you anything?” I finally leaned back, feeling frustrated. “Because you love me, let's start from there,” Taylor said sweetly and Chelsea laughed again. "Well, I feel like strangling you right now." I said, and Taylor raised her neck playfully leaning forward for me to go ahead. "You're so annoying." I said and finally turned my attention to Chelsea. "So, how did your tour go?" I asked her and Chelsea smiled, warming up. “It was insane." Chelsea answered. “It was honestly the best two months of my life. I almost didn’t want it to end.” “Aww. That’s amazing,” I said softly. “We’re going again next year, though.” she added. “And it's going to be longer this time.” "And actually… we might be needing some extra hands." Chelsea then added. "You two could come and be part of our crew.” “Wait. Really?” I asked, sitting up. “Yeah,” Chelsea said. “You’d be perfect.” “I’m definitely in.” “As long as the money’s good, I don’t care where we go.” Taylor commented. We all continued to talk for a while, talking and laughing about random things right when I noticed the waitress that had been staring at Chelsea all night. “Tell me you see that.” I said, nudging Taylor with my elbow. Taylor followed my gaze and smirked when she saw the waitress still glancing at Chelsea even as she served someone else. “Oh, I see it.” Taylor said. “See what?” Chelsea asked, turning her attention to us. “The waitress,” I said. “She’s been staring at you all night.” “Nah..." Chelsea mouthed as she looked at the waitress who was now looking elsewhere. "She was probably looking at someone behind me." “There is literally a wall behind you.” And right on cue, the waitress walked over to us, probably deciding to make her move. “Can I get you ladies anything else?” she asked, eyes firmly on Chelsea. “Maybe,” I said, grinning. “You can get us your number, for our friend here. I've seen the way you've been staring at her." "Nora!" Chelsea nudged me to shut up. "Please don't mind her." The waitress laughed, completely unfazed and she reached into breasts and pulled out a folded piece of paper, and slid it toward Chelsea. “Call me,” she whispered and then walked away. Chelsea stared after her, stunned, then Taylor and I burst out laughing. "See? We told you she wants you." I said to Chelsea. Chelsea hesitated for a moment and then she finally stood up. “Okay. Fine. I’m going in.” She said, downing her drink before leaving. “Wish me luck.” We watched as she caught up with the waitress, whispered something in her ear, and suddenly they were holding hands and disappearing down a hallway. And that was when Taylor decided to turn and face me, going on about how Chelsea had just gotten back and she had already found someone. “Taylor, will you rest?” I snapped as I pushed her teasingly, hoping she would finally shut up. “Never.” She said, grinning. “And good thing I planned ahead.” “What did you do?” “I invited Brian,” she said cheerfully. “And I told him to come with a friend.” “What? Taylor!” I nearly shouted. It wasn't long after that Brian showed up and beside him was a face I absolutely did not expect to see again. "Oh my God." I murmured as I froze and saw Kelvin. It was obvious he was surprised to see me too. "This is unexpected." Kelvin said, and Brian gestured between us. “Do you two know each other?” Brian asked. The two of us had met during one of my gigs, working as an attending lady for an event. Kelvin was one of the guests and I had helped him with something in his hotel room. The two of us had a one night that day and agreed never to speak of it again. But now, here he was, standing before me. “Something like that.” Kelvin answered. “Small world,” Brian said, clueless. Taylor’s eyes darted between us and slowly, a smile spread across her face. “Oh... interesting,” she said, and then she grabbed Brian’s arm. “We’ll give you two some space then.” She said. “Taylor—” I started, but it was already too late again. Kelvin had already taken to the sit beside me. “Hi,” he said to me.
