Chapter 7-His Mate

1043 Words
Saturday morning- Daniel sat frustrated in his office sofa. His future Luna was still unaware of his true self and admittingly, he was terrified of telling her. She was everything he could have ever had asked for and more. At his club, shed spoken about an art gallery that she owned. The passion she'd shown when speaking about all the beautiful pieces shes had a part of introducing into the world made my heart melt. My mate was one with many talents. Shed taken it upon herself to invite everyone to her exhibit the next night so that they could support Luke, his club DJ and pack member. I would personally purchase his piece in appreciation for bringing my mate to me unknowingly. Our night was beautiful but cut short due to her friend walking out of the club with a man she barely knew.  Maia had almost bolted out the door alone, luckily i had ran after her to help. Matt and Xander bolting after me, making sure that theyd keep her safe as well. Luckily her friend had just stepped out to smoke and continue her drunken chat with her new friend. Thats when things turned a little sour. The air seemed to sour, making our nostrils hurt at the overly pungent smell. Demon. Hed turned around to smirk at our expressions, "Looks like your friends dont like the smell of smoke" he lied. When both girls turned to look at us, he'd flash his true eye color at us. His purple eyes shinning against the nights darkness. Maia smiled at us, starting to walk back towards us. The demons eyes raking her body with admiration as she walked. MINE! Fenrir growled loud enough that he mindlinked both Xander and Matt. This was not good. Maia was right infront of me, i couldnt lose control. My whole body had tensed, the anger i felt seething through me. I was surprised she hadnt stopped walking towards me. "I think I'm gonna take her home. She's saying goodbye to him so we can catch a cab." She half whispered to me. Good.  This fucken demon wouldn't get away with looking at my mate like that then. I tried to smile, "do you want me to call you one?" Trying to hide my anger was easier with her so close to me, her flowery scent filling my nostrils. I didnt want her to leave after I'd just found her, but that demon was up to something. His eyes glancing back at her every time her friend seemed to look away. I wonder if he'd try to follow their scent back home. I saw white with rage at the thought.  Id kill it. Maia's hand on my arm pulled me back to the present. "So...let me give you my number, that way i can text you the info for the exhibit tomorrow" she said shyly. Now that caught my attention, was she flirting with me? Her hair had fallen to her face as she looked down at her phone screen. One of her curls resting in the middle of her breasts. Without thinking, I'd placed my hands on hers pulling her sideways to me. Her shoulder brushing up on my chest as she leaned into me so i could see her phone screen. My heart was racing, i could see the right side of her neck. The spot where my mark would one day show. I shivered slightly at the thought. Without hearing my own words, i gave her my number and waited for her as she texted me her name with a smiley face. She turned around to face me, a seductive smile playing on her face, "so I'll see you tomorrow?" She asked as she pulled a curl behind her ear. She bit her lip slightly and smiled as i said yes.  Matt and Xander had walked quietly around us to stand behind her friend and the demon, ready to pounce on it the moment the girls left. Luckily for me, my club was in downtown Phoenix and on a friday night that meant cabs were on every street waiting to be called on. I reluctantly turned to the street to flag one down for them. The moment the girls were out of sight, wed heard a small chuckle followed by the demon turning to smoke disappearing into the night. "s**t!" Xander roared as he clasped his hands into now air. ... It had been over 12 hours later and even with the help of a witch we hadnt been able to find out even what kind of demon that was. I got up from my chair noticing the time. I had to get ready for Maia's exhibit in a few hours! I mindlinked Luke, Are you close by the pack house? Yes Alpha, he sounded weary. Good, your running with us to the outskirts of Phoenix and getting ready at the villa in Scottsdale. I mindlinked in my alpha tone. Yes alpha, im outside. His excitement clear in his mindlink. Not many pack members ever went to the villa, it was more of a get away for alphas, betas, gammas and their mates to build their bond. Considering that Luke brought me my mate, hed earned a weekend there and more. "Xan, Matt, are you guys ready to go?" I holered as i jumped the stairs railing, taking my short cut downstairs. "Way ahead of you" Xander teased as they saw me land. Both of them surpressing a laugh. "Dude, you hadnt done that since we were kids, you MUST be in a good mood" Matt laughed. I smirked as i took my shirt off and walked out the double doors towards the woods. "Ive got my mate to impress" i say start to shift into Fernin. All three men race after me, exploding out of their clothes just as i had from my basketball shorts. Fernin picked up his pace, stretching his limbs at the same time. You want to leave them behind? He asked, amused that wed already lost them as we broke from the trees and into the desert. Yea, the faster we get to the farm and get a car, the fater we can go get dressed for our mate.  We both thought about her, her beautiful smile. Her soft caramel colored skin. Her big brown eyes. Her eyes. Id forgotten that theyd flashed blue last night. Her eyes couldve reflected one of the clubs lights. Fernin argued, but i could feel his tension. Maybe shes a witch? I tried to come up with something that made sense. Fernin seemed to agree with me, all tension leaving my wolf.
