Zenobia’s POV
“Zenny? Zenny?”
I let out a strangled breath as my sight cleared.
Several pairs of eyes stared at me with curiosity. I sat upright as I took the towel off my face, looking at my surroundings in shock, my lips parted, and my heart pounded loudly in my chest. My eyes looked around the huge parlor that I was in.
Many familiar faces were staring at me with the same question in my mind.
“What was I doing here? Was this the afterlife? The questions in my head swung like a rollercoaster as I remembered the fatal car accident I was involved in. I touched my arm as I had a flashback of how I was fed with the wolfsbane. I touched every part of my body looking for any injury or cut, but I found none.
“Zenny! It's your big day and the facial treatment has done wonders on your face. I bet Lucian is eagerly waiting to see how you look.”
My vision suddenly revealed Tiffany right in front of me, her eyes staring at mine with concern, in her hands were my clothes. “Zenny, he is waiting for you downstairs.” She said,
My eyes were wide as I stared at one of my worst nightmares right in front of me. My sister had teamed up with my husband and killed me in my previous life.
“Zenny, are you okay? You look angry.” She said as she sat beside me.
“I… I am fine.” I managed to say while still processing the whole thing in my head. I guess the moon goddess answered my prayers and gave me a second chance. I stared at the table clock beside me and as I read inwardly, I realized it was the same date I got mated with Lucian and gave him my Alpha position.
“What in the world?” This day is exactly two years before I was murdered. My eyes fell on the dress lying beside me with Tiffany smiling at me.
“You should hurry up! Everyone is waiting for you downstairs.” Tiffany said as she left the room with everyone except for the pack maids who would dress me up.
All the dots started to connect in my head. My eyes grew wide in shock, shivers traveling down my spine. Everything started to make sense to me. “The Moon Goddess gave me a second chance by taking me back two years before I was murdered,” I said to myself as a drop of tears streamed down my cheek.
“A second chance to correct my mistakes, and this time, I was not going to be the all-forgiving Zenobia that they easily trampled on. This time, I was going to make everyone who harmed me in my last life regret their deeds. Wedding? Love? Scratch that. All that can go to hell for all I care, because this time, I will make them pay for their crimes without remorse." I said as I sat down for my makeover.
“You look beautiful, Alpha Zenobia.” The maid who was dressing me up complimented me.
“Alpha Zenobia,” I repeated, staring at myself in the mirror. That is my right and I won't allow anyone to snatch that away from me this time. The advice Tiffany gave me right before I was murdered flashed through my mind, “In your next life, don't be too welcoming. It's only going to make your life pathetic, and you will end up dying.” I felt a sharp pain in my stomach from the betrayal from my previous life.
“I am not that weak Alpha anymore, I am Alpha Zenobia Moon of the Shadow Moon Pack,” I said as a reaffirmation to myself as I went downstairs to join the family who betrayed me in my previous life.
I walked down to join Lucian Black who was waiting for me at the other end of the hall with all the pack members present to witness our mating. I could not help but look out for Glenn and I saw him standing close to Lucian.
“If only he knew that Lucian would end up killing him for his loyalty towards me and the pack,” I murmured to myself.
As I approached Lucian, I wondered what I had seen in him in my past life that made me fall head over heels for him. For a piece of trash and a selfish bastard like him.
As I halted right in front of him with the crowd cheering and jubilating, anyone would think he was a good person considering the way he was smiling at me. I remembered how he broke our mate bond in my previous life and I knew the first thing to do was to pay him back for that.
“Zenny..” He said as he tried to hold my hands.
“I, Zenobia Moon, Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack, reject you, Lucian Black, as my fated mate,” I said, staring dead into those wicked and bloody eyes of his.
The gasps of the pack members filled the hall with their hands closing around their mouths in shock at the turn of events.
This was my first plan for revenging the son of a b***h. “Zenobia Moon!” A familiar called out with anger and I already knew who it was. It was my Jezebel adopted mother, Mother Ruby.
“Alpha Zenobia Moon.” I corrected her, smiling at her in a mean way, and I could see the shock on her face. She would never have believed that I would talk back to her because I was her puppet who followed every one of her instructions in my previous life.
“Al… Alpha Zenobia.” She stuttered, and I enjoyed the expression on her face.
“What has suddenly gotten over you? You were so excited about this, and you insisted on getting married to him. Do not disgrace this pack, you know you are the Alpha of…”
“Which is exactly why I have the right and power to reject him. I am the Alpha and I call the shots here!” I interrupted her just before she could finish what she was saying. She took a step backward, shocked by my audacious spirit.
I flipped my hair backward with so much sass that the pack members wondered if I was the naive, slow, dumb, and incompetent girl who was chosen by the moon goddess to be their Alpha. I glared at Lucian, my hazel eyes staring into his soul and I could feel the shivers and fear run down his spine.
Zenobia, he knew, would be excited to have him as a mate. I turned to the pack members present, knowing I had to give them an explanation about what had just happened.
“Thank you all for coming, but I am fit enough to be the Alpha of the Shadow Moon pack. Trust me when I tell you all that you would not want a man like Lucian Black to rule over you all.”
“The moon goddess has chosen me to be the Alpha of this great pack and I promise to lead you all into greatness,” I announced confidently, which made everyone stare at me in shock.
“Here, I will give you these,” I said as I handed my bracelet to Lucian. “We are done forever. Our engagement and relationship is over. You can continue your games with the love of your life.” I said as I gave Tiffany a sharp glance before looking at Lucian one more time. That bracelet would remind him of how I have rejected him publicly for the rest of his life.
The whispers of the pack members began. They murmured about how they could not allow me to rule over them without a mate.
“You can't become the Alpha except you have a mate!.” My adopted father, Mr. Ardolf, ordered, followed by a sudden silence in the room.
I knew he was telling the truth. They won't accept me that easily without a mate. I have to do something. I looked at Lucian and Tiffany one more time before exiting the hall. The murmurs and whispers followed till I got back to my room and the tears streamed down my cheeks freely.
I stepped on an envelope on the floor and I picked it up, wondering where it came from. As I read through the content, I could tell that it fell from Tiffany’s hand.
I smiled as I picked up my car keys and exited the room. The moon goddess has just shown me the way forward.
