That One Night Stand

Chapter 3

Alicia stared in disbelief, her heart clenched. “Please sir…please am sorry, it won't happen again,” Alicia begged. She felt her world crumbling right in front of her. She wanted to climb out of bed to kneel down and beg, but she was n***d.

Oh no, she can't lose this job, her only source of income. How will she survive? Her scalp tingles as blood drains from my head. Fear steals through her like a ghost, leaving goosebumps in its wake.

Paul left the room, slamming the door hard without looking back.

Stella stood at the door, smirking at her. She took out her phone and took more pictures of her before leaving the room and Alicia was stunned. She quietly gathered her stuff and left the hotel immediately.

Before she got home, her phone was already buzzing with notifications of messages and missed calls, and she knew Stella must've posted her pictures all over the Internet. She ignored it.

She doesn't want anything to make her feel more uncomfortable than she already felt.

“Girl, where the hell have you been?... "I have been calling you like forever,” Nora asked as Alicia stepped inside their apartment. Nora felt bad for her when she saw her photos and videos trending online and had been waiting for her all night, but unfortunately she didn't come home.

“Sorry I didn't want to take any calls,” Nora is Alicia's cousin and roommate.

Alicia's handbag slips from her hand and clatters on the floor as she slumps to the bed. Tears well up in her eyes, and her choked sob surprises Nora as tears start rolling down her face.

It had not been up to 24hrs and she had experienced all these tragedies. This was her worst day ever, just like the day she lost both her parents.

Nora was holding her, stroking her hair while consoling her. Alicia couldn't believe she lost everything she once held dear in just one day. Her best friend, her fiancée and her f*****g job. Her world was shattered.

One month later

Alicia stared with tears at the pregnancy test strips in front of her with two bold red lines staring at her, her hair was piled up into an impossible topknot perched precariously on her head, tendrils falling around her face.

She had been feeling sick lately and, having missed her period for some days, she decided to take a home test.

And behold, she was pregnant.

How is she going to survive this? How can she bring up a baby without a job? She had not been able to secure another job since Paul fired her, and she was not going to do any abortions.

How is she going to tell Jackson Adams that she's carrying his child? He is married…like married probably with kids.

Alicia weakened as her tears dripped nonstop from her eyes.

She remembered his cold but handsome face and her heart shuddered.

Nora noticed her tears and stared warily at her, “ What happened again, Alicia? "When are you ever going to stop crying over spilled milk?” Nora snapped. She was already fed up with seeing her crying all the time.

“ Am pregnant,” Alicia blurted out, and Nora stared at her in disbelief.

“ Oh..on Alicia, the one-night stand, I thought you used protection? "You should have known better…,” Nora laments.

“I know…,” her voice rasped, “ W..we didn't think of protection at the time and even after that, it slipped my mind, you know how everything has been on my neck lately,” Alicia's voice hoarse.

“ You have to go and confront him, he must pay for forcing himself and taking advantage of you,” Nora hissed.

Alicia’s face turned cold. “Stopped it already, Nora, how many times do I have to tell you that he didn't force himself on me. "It was consensual, he never took advantage of me,” Alicia snapped.

“ Because you have had a crush on him, that's why you are blinded between consensual s*x and r**e. You are trying to protect him,” she yelled, and Alicia was stunned.

“You know what, screw you, I am not having this conversation ... .I will go to his office to know if I can get the opportunity to talk to him but not because of this nonsense you're saying….is because he deserves to know the truth,” Alicia snapped.

“Oh really….,” Nora raised her brows. “So tell me, what are you going to say to him when you meet him ... .wait, let me guess. Hi there, am Alicia your one-night stand when you were drugged and now, am carrying your child?..... girl, wise up, he is married”, Nora sneered and Alicia was stunned.

‘Nora was right…..it doesn't make sense’.

“What will you have me do?” Alicia weakened as her heart pounded.

“Find a good lawyer and frame him for r****g you. Demand like 10 million dollars

Compensation from him…. With him being the reason why you lost your job, you will win in court and become a millionaire. You can keep the child if you want but never tell him about the pregnancy, just make him pay for what he did to you. After all, he is a billionaire. "He wouldn't feel a thing,” Nora said, and Alicia was speechless.

As much as it is really tempting, Alicia can never do that to him. There must be another way. She is not going to frame an innocent man. She got fired because of her own stupidity, not him. She decided to visit Jackson the next day.
