The Snake Princess

Chapter 5

"How long do you think she is going to stay like this? She hasn't moved an inch from the way she was placed on this bed. I see my child after sixteen long years and she is unconscious." I hear a woman speak. I do not recognize her voice, but she has an authoritative tone in her voice even though she sounds like she is on the verge of crying.

"I am not sure why her highness is not conscious yet, but I have administered more herbs. We should start seeing the effects in a couple of hours." The man replied.

"Just make sure she is comfortable and that we are notified as soon as she wakes up. I cannot see my baby like this anymore." The woman from before instructs.

"Yes your majesty." I hear some shuffling and the darkness takes over again.

I feel nothing. It's like floating in space. There is just darkness, no sound, no feelings. Just the nothingness surrounding me. But when I am out of the darkness, I sometimes hear people talking or moving around me. I wanted to cry but couldn't when I heard my mom and dad's voices. They are here with me but I still cannot open my eyes and the darkness still takes over. I do not know how long I have spent in this in and out of darkness phase, but I hope it ends soon. I want to see my parents and the others whom I hear when I am conscious. I try fighting the darkness but it does not go away.

When I wake up again, I hear the woman from before talking.

"It has been two days now and she is still unconscious. Call Melissa now, she is the only one who can fix this."

"But your majesty......" the man tries speaking.

"You did all you could, Micheal, and I appreciate your help greatly, but I need your sister. Now."

"Yes your majesty." The man didn't sound very happy but I heard everyone leaving the room.

This is the first time that I am conscious and alone in the room. There is always someone whispering or talking or moving, but it's completely silent now. All I could hear was leaves rustling in a light breeze, my breathing and there is another person present. I can hear them breathing but I didn't hear them move even an inch. Suddenly, I hear footsteps approaching me and the side of my mattress dips from the pressure. Someone lightly touches my cheeks with their finger and an electrical current runs through my body. They release a deep sigh and say "I have waited so long for you princess, please come back to me." He has deep voice. I want him to touch me again or talk more but he quickly gets up and moves back. I hear the doors opening and people walking in.

"Harper." A lady speaks as she enters the room. So the guy who touched me is named Harper.

"Melissa."

"So it is true then, our princess has finally returned."

"Yes she has. But when Frank brought her she was unconscious and hasn't even moved an inch. I gave her some herbs but it didn't work so the queen had me call you." The man who I now know is called Micheal informs her.

"Of course she did. You see, I am the best baby brother." she lightly teases. Micheal just huffs in return.

"Okay then, let's get to work." she holds my wrist to check the pulse but I feel the darkness coming again and I am gone.
