49th Tick: Wish Of Salvation

1004 Words
Thomas took a deep breath. He was in a barren land where no other living things were around. He shouted, “WishEarth!” There was a pause before the winds around Thomas started to pick up. The clouds twisted and a floating ball of black flames floated nearby. Thomas was desperate, he needed to do anything he could to save the human realm, to put things back in order. “Hello, hello, hello!” Sounded an enthusiastic voice. A young looking boy, wearing a traditional Chinese JiangShi costume. His costume was a blend of red and black, his eyes brown. His hair was brown and stuck out from beneath his hat, a slip of paper covering the middle portion of his face. His costume sleeve was long, hiding his hands. The boy smiled brightly. “Third of four Myths, WishEarth here.” He announced happily. Thomas clenched his hands into fists. He looked at the carefree Myth, simply floating in the air nonchalantly. Despite having fought a few days prior, Wish had a short attention span, the fight had passed him like it was nothing. He looked at Thomas, a cheeky smile on his face. “Hey, hey, ClockKeeper, why did you call me?” Wish asked, floating closer. “Do you want to make a wish with me? Wish for something? Under a shooting star, maybe?” Wish laughed as Thomas pushed him away. He may have been untouchable by mortals, but other Myths could touch him just fine. WishEarth did not falter, floating away and disappeared, appearing nearby, a stone block raising from the ground. Wish stood on it and lowered his upper body, smiling widely at Thomas. “If I had a choice, I would rather not have called you.” Thomas said. “Oh? A problem?” Wish said gleefully. “What is it? Tell me. It’s the first time I have seen you with a problem you can’t solve.” Wish jumped down, floating near Thomas, lying on his back in midair. “Does it have something to do with that girl you travel around with? Or do you have a problem by yourself? Maybe both?” Wish laughed loudly. “Did you break up?” Thomas sighed and said, “I need you to do something.” “It’s going to cost.” Wish told Thomas, smiling slyly. “You’re the only customer who I will tell it to.” “JoyRide.” Thomas started. Wish’s excitement dropped when he heard the name of the second Myth. He groaned, “He’s soooo boooringggg! I don’t wanna deal with him! No! You and Devil can go fight him, I don’t wanna meet him!” “I figured you would say something like that.” Thomas sighed. “But really, I can’t just let him do anything he wanted.” “Not gonna stop him.” Wish said, covering his face with his hands/sleeve. “Fine, I’ll deal with him somehow.” Thomas gave in. “Then I’ll need you to do something else.” “Hm? What is it?” “A demon.” Thomas calmly said. “A demon named Episode, can you deal with him?” “What do you want me to do?” Wish asked, yawning. “I grant wishes, not do chores. If you want him dead, just say it, if you want him rendered unable to move, just say it.” Thomas hesitated, not sure whether he wanted to strike a wish with WishEarth. Still, no matter how he looked at it, Wish was the only one capable of doing what Thomas had asked of him. “Don’t kill him, just make it so that these cords come off.” Thomas explained. “Do not kill. I repeat, do not kill Episode, I want to interrogate him at a later date.” Wish nodded, hanging in the air upside down. He then said, “You want me to get rid of those cuffs, yes? If you’ve decided, just say the line, any wish will be granted.” “No killing though.” Thomas warned. “Yeah yeah...” Wish said. “You’re no fun.” Wish laid down on the ground, frowning. He let out a loud sigh and said, “Blah, blah, blah. All the wishes I got in the past day has been about changing the world back, this and that. It’s boring, so dull. Cant people be more creative? Come on, even you are talking about it.” Thomas watched as Wish got on his feet, floating around. “It’s so boring...” “Then go and deal with Episode, he’s an interesting fellow.” Thomas recommended. “I will after you make a wish.” Wish waved his recommendation aside. “But ClockKeeper, have you ever thought about what the price would be?” Thomas scowled, he knew Wish, the price was never normal. Wish loved playing with people, so he granted wishes by taking away something about the person. Or he gave the person abilities at a cost. “I could take quite a few things, you know.” Wish said, floating not too far away. “For example, your memories, your pocket watch, your sight, your hearing, or even that girl you travel with.” Thomas remained silent, Wish rubbed his chin. “Wait, why do you travel with a human? If you wanted to fight Devil, it should be easy.” “None of your business.” Thomas told him. “Hm... I’ll figure it out eventually.” Wish said, shrugging. “Are you still going to make a wish?” “I will.” Thomas determined. Wish tapped his chin. “What to take, what to take...” He snapped and pointed at Thomas. “I got it.” “What is it? Spit it out.” “Once your cuffs are off and the world is normal, I want to fight you alone.” “Fine, whatever.” Thomas said. Wish’s face brightened up and he spread both hands above him, cheering. Thomas sighed once more and said, “I wish upon WishEarth, remove my cuffs by confronting Episode without killing him.” Wish smiled widely, his eyes had a glint in them. “I will grant that wish.” Wish disappeared with a gust of wind. Thomas stood in the empty land for some time before he started walking. He went to the closest place he could go to and got a few supplies in the midst of the chaos. He returned to The World Clock soon after, hoping Wish would not mess up.
