A force of nature, one brought over by the demons from the demon realm’s waters. A fun as tall as Thomas, a body meters long. Eyes red, two rows of teeth that looked like that could be used to saw the boat in half. It was grey, with scars across its body. Thomas thought about fishing the human out of the sea and stopping the shark in place. However, he found it a good opportunity to see what the human, a previously renowned hero of legends could do.
“Is he going to be alright?” Thomas asked.
“Yes.” The sailor replied confidently, even a hint of pride in his voice.
The shark opened its jaw and threatened to bite the captain’s body into bits and pieces. The captain had a smile on his face as the beast approached him. When the shark snapped his jaw closed, the captain held the mouth open, his left hand grabbing the lower set of teeth, his right the top. With a grunt, he leaned backwards.
Thomas noted something. The human did not have an extraordinary amount of strength, stronger than average, but not strong enough to do what he had done. Thomas wanted to know what kind of magic the captain had used. The shark flew out of the water, over the captain, its tail reaching way above where Thomas stood. He leaned back as the shark splashed into the water again. The captain held up both hands, the broken teeth of the shark in each. He threw them aside and spread his arms again, the shark attacking faster than before.
The human dived under, the shark following, but stopped before the dive. The captain exploded out of the water and landed on the shark, punching downwards. The middle of the shark concave inwards, killing the beast. Thomas had seen all of it in action, the captain jumping and landing gracefully on the deck of the ship. Thomas could understand why he would be considered a hero among humans. It just made Thomas more curious as to how Angelo, the hero the sailor claimed to be the strongest, had lost.
“Great weather today, aye?” The captain laughed.
“Wash up already! You smell old!” Thomas heard someone shout.
The captain laughed heartily and shook his head. “As fellow seamen, how dare you disgrace another because of my stench? I smell like a man!”
“An old man most likely!” The person shouted back.
The crew broke into laughter as the captain, grinned widely, walking into the rooms towards the shower. Thomas did not follow after him, he just waited at the deck of the ship.
“Zeroth Hour.”
He stretched and walked forward, eventually towards the rooms. He went back to the room where Rose was in, she was comfortably sleeping, Truth was also sleeping. Thomas went over to the captain’s room and waited inside, saying, “First Hour.”
A clock appeared over the ship as time skipped. To others, it was normal, everything was normal, just that Thomas had jumped forward in time. The captain walked in, seeing Thomas.
“Can I help you?” He asked.
“I need to talk with you.” Thomas stated. “There’s a lot I want to know.”
“Sure, I don’t mind.” The captain shrugged. “But there are a few things I won’t be talking about.”
“What’s your magic?” Thomas asked directly.
“Not telling.”
Thomas sighed. “Well, can you at least tell me who you are?”
“Captain Wave of the Wave Marine Crew. Been in the job for about fifteen to twenty years, you can call me a classic. The men on board are my crew that stuck with me for the longest time, some newer, others older.” the captain said, leaning against the frame of the door.
The captain was a mature person. His blonde hair was swept to either side, his face looked quite young despite his claim of being old. His eyes had a tinge of blue, the side of his eyes had wrinkles that became obvious when he smiled. And he smiled a lot. He wore a captain’s jacket clasped together with a belt. The jacket had long sleeves and his pants were long with high leather boots as shoes. The most noticeable feature was the exposed chest and torso as he refused to wear anything under the jacket or to even wear the jacket properly, leaving the buttons unbuttoned.
“Who killed you guys?” Thomas decided to get to the point.
“A demon general, or so to say, two actually.” Captain Wave scratched the back of his head. “I remember fighting a female demon who was quite angry, but another demon general appeared. I lost afterwards because they teamed up.”
“You were attacked by two?”
“Yes... it is odd, when I was about to defeat the first demon general, the other one appeared. It is not because she was weak, I had a tough time with the first demon, so when the second one came, I was overpowered.”
“Do you know the names of the demons?”
Captain Wave shook his head. “I haven’t the faintest idea.”
Thomas sighed.
“But I can recall a few things.” Captain Wave said. “The first demon general, she was quite crazy to say the least, like an animal, extremely hard to deal with. The second one came in with such calmness that I almost couldn’t feel his presence.”
“Two... it would be a problem if the demon general we are facing were the same.” Thomas commented.
“With you, we might have a chance.”
Thomas shook his head. “Don’t count on me, I’m pretty weak in combat.”
“Maybe if Angelo was here...”
“That brings me to the second point.” Thomas walked towards the captain and whispered, “It’s been a hundred years since the demons attacked. I don’t know who this Angelo guy is.”
Captain Wave’s eyes widened, his body slumped. Thomas caught him and saw a fairy floating behind the captain. Thomas was about to ask what Truth had done when she explained, “He was panicking and was about to go berserk, so I put him to sleep for awhile.”
“Fairies can do that?”
“I can.”
