80th Tick: To The Island

Rose blinked, staring at the black circle in front of her. She walked around it and looked from behind, seeing nothing. She scratched her head and asked Truth, “Are you sure this is safe?” “Very.” Truth assured. “How ‘very’ are we talking about?” Rose asked again. “About as safe as you drinking water.” “I could choke, so there’s still a possibility of me dying, yeah?” “You’re an Angel, I don’t think you can even die.” Truth joked. “You never know, I might end up in Hell next time.” Truth sighed and flew into the portal and returned back from it a few seconds later, holding a blade of grass. She pointed it at Rose and said, “Here, is that enough proof?” “Are you sure I can even pass through it? It might only be for someone as small as you.” Rose said, checking the height of the portal. “Why are you acting so paranoid?” Truth asked. “You were the one who agreed to follow me.” “But you said it was only for one person, with this, can’t we have the whole crew go through?” Rose asked. “It consumes magic on how many people pass through it. My Magic is already strained after one trip, when we both go in next, I won’t have enough magic to allow anyone else to go through.” Truth stated, matter of factly. “Got it, got it.” Rose said before taking a step forward. “Hope I don’t die.” She stepped through the black circle and her surroundings changed. The circle closed behind her, Truth not far behind. She was in a forest, for the fiftieth time. She sighed, she seemed to always be involved with forests. Granted, ever since the demons invaded the human world, many parts were left wild, so most of the land was covered in forests. She kicked a tree lightly, saying, “I don’t like forests anymore.” Truth floated beside her, the fairy’s wings buzzing like a mosquito. “We should be on the island where the demon general is.” Rose thought about it, how could Truth know where the island was? Unless she had been at the island before. However, she was the one who led them to the demon general in the first place, so it was expected that she would know where they lived. There was rustling not too far away, and Rose instinctively hid behind a tree. She peered from the side and saw a demon patrolling the area. She noticed something odd, the land not too far away was completely wrecked, the trees fallen, the ground looked like it went through a grinder before getting massacred. There was no doubt that a battle had occurred there. Rose snuck around, using her sixth sense magic to guide her through the forest with great precision. She was headed in a path where she was unlikely to be spotted among the trees while making her way to wherever the demon general was. Unfortunately, just like the last time, something odd happened. Her sixth sense, at some point, just shut down. Rose was left standing there, staring blankly at the ground, unable to use her magic. She looked around, afraid of being spotted. Without Thomas, she might as well have died if she was captured and killed. “What’s wrong?” Truth whispered. “Nothing.” Rose whispered back. She had been heading in a general direction previously, so she continued on that path, looking left and right for any patrolling demons. She would hide behind trees when she saw demons and make her way onwards. “Elizabeth! Elizabeth!” Truth called, whispering aggressively. “What?” Rose whispered aggressively back. “Yeah, you’re not too good at that camouflage thing.” Someone else said. Rose jumped, looking at where the voice came from. Above them, were two demons. A woman sat on a branch, wearing a red dress. She had two dagger sheathed behind her waist, and she was silent as she watched them. Another one was a male, crouched on a lower branch, looking at them. He wore white black robes which were quite loose. They both had a similar slim frame and light tan skin. They both had horns, a similar face, red eyes and sharp teeth. Their hair were white, except the female had a red blotch on her hair. The male demon’s voice was soothing, calm and relaxing. He radiated calmness, to the point where Rose did not feel threatened by him, either that or it was because her sixth sense wasn’t working. “May we know why you are here?” He asked Rose. She was unable to reply. They looked at her from a higher angle, and honestly, she had no idea how to reply to that question. Rose could not simply say she was there to free Thomas and defeat them, nor could she say she had ill-intent towards them. “We’re here to kick your a-” Truth started to say. They gave Truth a look, a dark look in their eyes. Before Truth could even finish the sentence, a red s***h separated her head from her body. The fairy fell onto the ground, the two demons looking down on her. Rose had her sixth sense back not too long after, but it was no use, her feeling of fear was obvious. The male demon said, “We dislike unfilial creatures, begone fairy.” The male demon hopped onto the ground, landing with grace. “Can I have your name?” “What?” “Your name.” He repeated. “Rose Gold...” He nodded and walked in a direction. He said behind him, “Follow me, we’ll take you to our place to have a chat. There is no need to be afraid, we may despise humans, but we have nothing personal against Angels.” The female demon followed them, hopping from tree to tree. “Apologies for the late introduction, my name is Gira and my sister over there is Mini.” Gira said, pointing at Mini. Mini waved from the trees. The mood had changed, Rose no longer felt afraid, nor did she feel the need to fight them. At least, until his next line. “If you plan to do something to the both of us, I’ll let you know that any attempt you make is futile. We will not allow you to free the ClockKeeper, nor the human.” Rose thought to herself, he knew.
