“What’s your name?” “Name?” “Yeah, name.” “What’s a name?” “I... I don’t know... what is a name? Do you have one? Do you know mine?” “No.” “Weird... what are our names?” “I don’t know.” “Are names important?” “I don’t know.” That was the first conversation between the two twins at the age of nine years old. Back then, a female demon was pregnant with twins. For demons, having twins was simply weird and it was unlikely for the children to survive. The female demon, one of the wives of the head of the house of Pride, was determined to let both her children survive. She looked around while pregnant, looking for any known methods of demons giving birth to twins. Nine months passed, and sadly, there were no records of twins being birthed. It was a common problem between every case. The weather in Hell was too strong for them. Since they were born as each being half an actual demon, it was unlikely that they could withstand the harsh conditions in Hell. Knowing that, the pregnant demon decided there was on only one way for her to save her children. She knew her husband would not allow her to do what she wanted, not that he cared about her to begin with. He was a heartless demon who was part of the demon generals back then. They were preparing for a war, so the security was quite slack. She found a way to escape from Hell, and enter the human world. She was in a cave, not a single doctor, assistant, maid or any form of help with her. She withstood the pain and with much effort, her children were born in the human world. She had held the children. They were young and had come out holding each other. Their connection with each other was strong since birth, and she was certain that they would eventually have to rely on each other to survive. She tried her best to raise her children in the human world, unable to return to the demon realm. She could not return to Hell since her children might die, so she had to run away from her husband. She hid in forests and caves, far away from any and all humans. She did not care much for herself, going to hunt and gather food to feed the children, hoping they grew up strong. Everything went well, nothing was wrong. The children started to grow up together with her. She loved them dearly with all her heart. She patted them on their heads on their first birthday. Her children were a pair of twins, and at their age, they were unable to speak or walk. “Gumi... and... Mimi.” She laughed to herself. She was bad at names, but was still able to give them names after much thought. She whispered into their ears, “Grow up strong, okay? Work together, mother will always be there for you.” When she closed her eyes, she had a peaceful dream, something told her that they would be fine. She awoke from the noise. She opened her eyes, hiding her children in the corner and hiding in the shadows. A group had found and entered the cave she was hiding in. She did not understand their tongue, but when one of them had pointed a flashlight at her, she took it as an aggressive act. She lunged, attacking and killing the humans. She stood there, blood all around her. She knew she was in trouble from that moment, so she ran away with her children. She was not so idiotic as to remain in such a place. She may have been able to take care of most humans, but there were a few of them amongst the humans who frightened even her husband, a demon general. Back in the human villages, they were informed of the murder. To them, there was little evidence or explanation as to how and why the travellers had died. They were discussing whether it be because of a wild beast or a rogue human. In the middle of the discussion, one man had stood up. “What’s wrong?” Someone and asked. “Feeling tired.” The man replied, yawning. He was a young man with braids pulled back into a ponytail. He had tan skin and a lean yet muscular build. He was human, very much so, but his eyes would occasionally turn red. He wore a pair of sunglasses even when indoors. He wore a baggy shirt with splashes of colour, and a gold chain around his neck. He walked out, saying, “Call me back when you guys are done.” “Shouldn’t you discuss such things with us?” One of the humans spoke up. The room was filled with a tense atmosphere, an absolute silence. The younger man with the braids turned to glare at the man who had spoken up. The air in the room trembled slightly, no one daring to move. “Did I stutter?” The man who had spoken back straightened himself, sweating. “N-No.” “Good. Then inform me of the suspect later on.” He said, walking out of the conference room. The young man jumped and climbed up the building, looking at the forest where the murder had occurred. He tilted his head, his sunglasses Low as he looked at the forest. There was a disturbing force coming from the forest, but he was hesitant to go there without being told to. He enjoyed the breeze, ruffling his loose shirt. Who exactly was the young man? The first hero, the strongest hero of the human race. The hope of humanity, the bringer of salvation. The One, The Free, The Unrestricted. He had proven himself again and again, taking care of stray demons that appeared in the human world, even having killed two demon generals himself. He may be proud, but he can have anyone’s back. The one who holds the fate of humanity on his shoulders. There was no other human quote like him, the only one of his kind. His magic was free and limitless, and he was the reason for the creation of heroes. No one could control him. Blessed by the Heavens. The one truly free human. His name was Angelo.
