Chapter 4

RYAN

'Good morning, Alpha Ryan.’ I hear, only to see Alex walking into my office with a smug looking face.

'I see you are in the mood to joke around early in morning ‘.  I say still staring down at my documents.

'So much work… and it’s only your first day on the job. That must be hectic man.’ Alex says and invites himself to sit on my chair.

I ignore his forwardness and sigh from my newfound life problems, ‘That’s not the only thing, that’s going to keep me busy. I’ve actually been thinking about my soon to be Luna.’

'Ryan, last night was hectic. You know we all heard her talk, and some people actually find her hot yet very rude.’ Alex says cautiously waiting to see my reaction. 

'That doesn't really matter now does it. She was just emotional. What people need to understand she is my mate, and she is going to be your Luna, and she deserves respect.’ I say looking annoyed at his stupid outburst.

Alex coughs and stares at me, 'Calm down Ryan, I’m sorry it wasn’t my intention to offend you or the Luna. I must say she was looking sexy.’

'Were you looking at my woman Alex?' I ask him, with my lifted right eyebrow.

'Whoa hold on now, that was before you both called each other mates and looked like you were about to pounce on her.’ Alex says while laughing. 'Okay Ryan I'll head out to train with the guys. Come join us I’m sure it will get your mind off things for a while.’

Alex stands and walks out of my office, and I am left with only my thoughts and Riana’s image in my head.

'Sure.’ I say and Alex nods at me and walks out of my office and I am left with only my thoughts and Riana’s image in my head. I cannot focus on anything right now, but I think training with the boys will help get my mind off things. So, I stand up from my desk and head out to the training field.

A couple of hours later I feel alive because training with the boys was good, I broke a sweat and it really felt great. I just do not understand how last night’s event keeps tormenting me. It is not like I can really avoid the situation because the news has already spread that I have found my mate, so the pack members are excited to meet their Luna. From what I experienced last night I think their joy will be short lived, Riana did not even bother taking to me last night after she walked away from me. Why then will she treat my pack as her own when she moves here?

'Ryan! Oh, I mean Alpha Ryan.’  I did not need to turn my head to know that Bianca was the one calling out to me. Her high-pitched voice has always been a problem for me.

'Hi Bianca.’ I say finally stopping and slightly turning my head to look at her.

'How does it feel to be Alpha?' Bianca says, smiling brightly.

'It’s barely been a day. 'I'd like to get a hug from you.’  She says while trying to look cute and falling miserably.

'You still haven’t learnt about boundaries Bianca? I am your Alpha now and I cannot just go around hugging everyone. I hardly ever did even before I became Alpha.’ I tell her sternly.

'It's because of her, isn't it?' her sweet face suddenly turning red with anger or jealously I am not even sure at this point.

'Excuse me?' I look strangely because she is acting like we were together at some point.

'Your mate, that’s who I’m talking about, I've liked you Ryan since we were children and you never looked at me once yet come one night you see her, and you drool like a dog in front of her and everyone.’ At this point she is shouting and draws unnecessary attention towards us.

'Bianca lower your tone, I am your Alpha, so you need to show respect, we aren’t children anymore and even when we were, I never tolerated bullshit from you or anyone else.’ She lowers her gaze and whimpers as she steps back from my scary gaze.

'I'm sorry.’ Bianca says about to cry.

'Leave from my sight before I do something I'll end up regretting Bianca.’ She takes along with her the last courage is has a walk away from me.

'Well done son.’ I hear my dad from behind me.

'Dad, how long have you been watching me?' I look at him as he comes to stand beside me.

'I have been watching you long enough. She needs to know her place, after all these years she still runs after you like a lost puppy.’ My dad scoffs.

'I know it's crazy, what brings you here? Are you missing Alpha duties already?' I laugh.

'You wish I am preparing to enjoy quality time with my wife.’ Dad says.

'Okay I hear you.’ I look at how my dad managed to still look this good after leading a pack for so many years.

'Ryan, I didn't come here for a small chat, walk with me to my study.’ Dad and I walk towards our house and go into his study, where we are seated opposite each other.  

'Is there something wrong?' I ask worried.

'No, but I got a call from the Blood Moon Alpha Max. He called to inform me that they will be coming by tomorrow.’ Dad says seriously, I was waiting for him to say I am just pulling your leg but nothing of that sort came out from his mouth.

‘What! Is this not too soon for us to meet?’ I ask this because I feel extremely nervous suddenly.

'Yes, it is soon but we need to join both packs together as soon as possible.’ Dad says seriously.

'Wow I'm nervous.’ I say feeling my forehead sweat a little.

'Ryan hold your position you are an Alpha, don't turn into a fool because of the pull you will feel towards her. Her scent will suffocate you because you haven't had her, but you will need to hold on until it's time.’ Dad says, clearly talking to me as a former Alpha with experience

'Of course, dad I'll remember that.’ I highly doubt that because I am already falling to deep, overnight.

'Okay that would be all.’ Dad says, so I stand up from the chair and walk out of his study, on my way to my bedroom I hear two voices giggling and laughing in the kitchen, upon entering the kitchen I see my mom laughing at Alex's jokes.

'Whoa mom I didn't know you replaced me with Alex.’ I say as I walk behind the island in the kitchen.

'Ryan don't be jealous I just asked him to try out the cookies I baked.’ Mom says while smiling sweetly at me.

'Man, these cookies are out of this world I tell you. You need to try one.’ Alex chirps in happily as I walk towards him and smack him on the head.

'Who's your man’?’ I ask him seriously but with a hint of playfulness.

'My apologies Alpha.' He laughs and my mom joins in on the joke that I do not remember telling.

'Alex I'm counting to three, I'll close my eyes when I open them you better be gone. I close my eyes and I hear his legs quickly taking him out of the kitchen. I open them and laugh at him as he runs out.

'Ryan, why are you teasing your best friend like that?’ Mom says playfully.

'We wouldn’t be us if I don’t tease him.’ I speak.

'I hear you, Ryan. You looked stressed a while ago, I am glad you laughed a little with us.’ Mom says sadly.

'Dad told me that Riana and her family are coming tomorrow.’ I speak.

'Oh, I see, that’s why you feeling nervous? I’m sure Riana will behave tomorrow you probably have nothing to worry about.’ Mom says smiling at me.

'That's not the problem mom. She looks like she will reject me. I don't want to start dying from the pain and not being connected with her.’ I say absolutely disturbed.

'So that is what your worried about, I don't think she's that bad. She looks like she loves herself and her life too much to just die from heart ache. I don’t think she will reject you; she might give you a tough time though.’ Mom says

'I hope your right. At least I hope she's civil with me tomorrow unlike last night.’ My stomach drop from the thought of us fighting.

‘I’m sure she will be.’ Mom says.

'I thought meeting her too soon would make me look pushy, but her father reached out instead so I’m a little relieved.’

'Well, it's always wise to get these things done quickly you know. You never know what might happen.’ Mom continues.

'Mom did you like dad when you met him?' I ask her curiously.

'Oh yes I did, and he liked me just as much. All mates have different stories, just do not compare it with your life or you will just end up making terrible mistakes.’ Mom says.

'Okay thanks for the pep talk. I have got to draw up the list for the patrol. I won't be around for dinner.’ I kiss my mom on the cheek and start to walk away from her.

Mom rolls her eyes, 'I hate when you do that.’

'Love you too Sandra.' I laugh and continue to walk out the kitchen to go finish my paperwork.
