Chapter 16

We get back in time to eat a quick dinner and get ourselves to the meeting room. I didn't really want Sean to come, but he insisted that he be there to listen. He had that determination about him, I figured that if we said no he would figure out some way to listen in anyway.  We walk to the front and everyone quiets when I release my peace aura.  "My people, I am sure that by now you all know but if you do not, there was indeed a demon in our territory early this morning. To my knowledge, nobody saw it. I don't believe that it had time to create any mischief or damage, but if you have seen otherwise, please come speak to me."  I stopped and looked at the faces in the room. Some were angry, others worried and terrified. I motion for Walter to share his part.  "I unfortunately have more news concerning the demons. There is an unknown demon who is building an army, recruiting more and more supernaturals to the evil and darkness. Their desire is to rule over all of the species and you all can imagine what that might be like. I will be reaching out to other supernatural leaders and ask for their help in spreading the word and the fight that we will inevitably be participating in. Before you ask, I do not know if the angels will be fighting with us. I hope that since this threat also includes the human race that they will help us." He pauses and we take in the feelings in the room. Everyone is nervous, and rightly so. "I will be helping with your training so you can spar with angel."  He looked to me and smiled a little.  I turned out to me people and felt their anxiety. Alex, stronger than before, pushed out our peaceful aura. "This Friday will be my mate's coronation and the day after I will be hosting an alpha meeting to bring them all up to speed. As our warriors learn to fight angels, I will be sending some out to the packs to help them learn as well. Walter and I had a meeting with the centaur king and queen this afternoon and they will fight with us. If we were not allies before, we certainly are now. Are there any questions?" Nobody did, so I dismissed them and the three of us walked to the Alpha's living room. Abrham and Austin followed us so we could catch each other up on our afternoon.  "The messages all went out to the alphas."  "Thank you, Abrham."  We filled them in on our meeting and how it went as well as we could have hoped.  I looked to Austin, "We can talk about the company tomorrow. I think it's time to call it a day."  Everyone nodded and as I tucked Sean into bed he seemed a little off. "Sean, is everything okay?" "Yeah mom, I'm just thinking about the meeting. They looked worried." I nodded slowly, "Yes, but when we are able to train our warriors in fighting demons, they will gain more confidence. When they understand how to defend themselves, they will feel ready for whatever the future holds."  He nodded and I leaned down to kiss his forehead and give him one last hug.  When I go into the room I share with Walter, I didn't even get to say "hi" before he literally swept me off my feet. We spent the next several hours on us and had no more discussion about demons or fighting or planning.  I woke the next morning to kisses on my back, his lips getting closer to my neck. I turn my head to look at my mate with sleepy eyes.  "I'm going to the angel realm this morning, but I'll be back by lunch."  I nod, I knew he would need to go back at some point. I fully turn so I can give him a hug and kiss goodbye.  "Be safe, okay?" He scoffed. "Safe is my middle name." I just rolled my eyes and playfully smacked his arm. He chuckles and leaves.  I check the time and realize that I needed to get moving too, although a little more sleep actually sounded good. I take a nice long, hot shower and then make sure Sean is getting ready. To my surprise, I find him dressed and ready for the day, already working on his reading.  "You've started your studies early today." He looks at me when I speak and smiles.  "Just excited about being able to read." I raise a brow, but don't comment.  "Ready for some breakfast?" "Yep." He gets up and brings his book with him. I have to tell him to put it down so he doesn't trip on the stairs. I shake my head and chuckle.  We go down and Sean gets teased a little for reading through breakfast, but he takes it well. He smiles at them and then goes back to his book. I just shrug, I'll have a talk him later about not reading during meals.  I feel antsy with Walter away, but I try to focus on my work. Walter: I feel you, my angel. I'm alright.  Me: Thank you, I needed your voice. Walter: My love, all you need is ask. He pours love through our bond and I do the same.  I try to stay busy, but the anxiety doesn't leave leave me. Although, his voice helped. I end up checking on Sean a few times until he and I meet up for lunch. We were halfway through lunch when Walter came through the walkway. I couldn't help it, I jumped up and pretty much launched myself at him.  He chuckled, but held me tight. I didn't want to let go, but I did so could finish eating. He didn't let go of me as he led me back to the table. He sat in my seat and pulled me down on his lap. I know I blushed, but I didn't fight it. Everyone smirked and Sean laughed at my red face.  We don't talk about the angel realm visit. Sean was still engrossed in his book and everyone seemed to understand I didn't want to discuss it yet. When we were done, Sean went back to his tutor and Walter, Abrham, Austin, and I went to my office. I again sat on Walter's lap and the other boys snickers. "You just wait until you find your mates. I'm going to remember this moment."  They didn't take my threat seriously and all three of them chuckled.  I rolled my eyes and then got down to business. "So, tell us how your time in the angel realm?" "It was better than I originally thought. Some of the angels are not okay with my being mated to a wolf, even if she is the queen. I was able to have a short conversation with the angel who sent me on this mission in the first place. He said that he has been trying to discreetly recruit angels He indicated that he also believes some of our high angels may be compromised. He thinks that they haven't made a decision yet on which side they plan to be on. Several warriors came to me before I left and expressed a desire to help us build our army. They also will help train your wolves and anyone else who wishes to train with us." "Why do you think the high angels haven't made a decision yet" Austin asked. "I think they are waiting for something to tip the scales. I also think they have forgotten why they were created, that they were meant to be guardians, protectors. They need to be reminded of their purpose in this life." Walter sounded so defeated.  "Then that's what we'll give them. A reminder. We'll brainstorm on how to do just that." I snuggled into him and tried to reassure him.
