Chapter 5

The rest of the day was uneventful until Larze asked to go out for another walk before we turned in.  I agreed, so he grabbed my hand and we headed outside.  "Beautiful, I'm so sorry it was such a difficult day for you but I am so glad that it brought us together."  I gave him a genuine smile then and he put his arm around me to pull me closer as we walked.  "I'm glad too. I know that I may have seemed distant today, it's hard to not let the grief take over. I have a kingdom counting on me to lead and keep us strong, but right now I don't feel very strong." He stopped and pulled me into hug, "I can help you if you let me." It would be nice to share it, to have a partner. I nod and we keep walking. We reach the area we were at earlier and again I feel pulled. I'll come back out later, I promised myself.  We started walking back slowly and when we got to the front door he leaned down to kiss my cheek. "I'll see you in the morning, Beautiful." "Have sweet dreams." He heads back in and I wait a minute before walking back to that tree. When I'm there, I no longer feel the pull. What the hell? Maybe it's just the stress of all that's going on right now. I get back to the mansion and detour to the library, I want to read before bed tonight.  As I'm going past some bedrooms, I here my mate's voice. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but being werewolf I could hear him easily.  "She is such a bore, dad! If she wasn't next in line for the throne, I swear I'd reject her." Alex is whimpering in my mind. -Alex, hide out scent. I see her nod and she quickly hides it.  "Son, we can rule this kingdom if you put up with her until after your official ceremonies. We'll kill her and then you can choose whatever mate you want." Well, s**t.  "You're right, and if I can convince her to have the double ceremony on Friday we can get rid of he the next day." The go on discussing how to kill me, but I stopped listening. I quietly make my way past and to my bedroom.  Me: Boys, I need you. Austin: One my way. Abrham: Me too By the time they got to my room, I was crying. I couldn't even tell them what was wrong. They just held me and told me that everything was going to be okay.  I must have cried myself to sleep again because when I open my eyes, daylight is streaming through my windows. The guys were still sleeping next to me I got up to shower.  -Alex, are you okay? -No, Honey. -You know what I have to do, right? -I know, and you have my blessing. -I'm so sorry, Alex. -Honey, this isn't your fault. This was all his choice.  -Did you feel anything off yesterday? -Sort of, but I chalked it up to our grief. -Yeah, so did I. I get out and get dressed in some black jeans, pretty blue button down, and my combat boots. The boys are still sleeping so I go over to them and lay a hand on each of their shoulders.  "Boys." The groan, but open their eyes and turn to me.  Austin speaks first, Abrham is even less of a morning person that I am. "Babe, ready to tell us what happened?" I close my eyes and nod. "Last night after I went for that walk with Larze, I stayed outside for a few more minutes and then was on my way to the library for a book to read before bed. As I passed some bedrooms, I overheard Larze and Alpha Billy talking. Basically it all comes down to Larze would reject me if I we not the the next kingdom leader and they want to kill me after I allow Larze to be the Alpha King."  When I'm done explaining, their faces are red and their auras explode with anger. It doesn't affect me, of course, but I can feel it. They begin pacing.  Abrham finally speaks, "What are we going to do about them?" "I'm obviously rejecting Larze and both he and his father will be banished from the Royal territory." "That's all?" Austin looks at me like I've lost my mind. "That's all for now, if they make any move to disrespect me or or the other packs, they are to be treated as hostile and we will put an end to their pack." They nod and we head down to breakfast, I purposely waited until after all of the visiting alphas that stayed last night were sitting at the long table. I walk to my seat, now at the head of the table. I stand behind my seat and wait for everyone to be silent.  "I have a couple announcements for everyone this morning. Yesterday, I discovered that Young Alpha Larze Pierce is my mate." Everyone starts clapping, but I put my hand up to quiet them. "However, due to me overhearing a conversation between him and his father last night, I will be rejecting him. I, Princess Adeera Joy Francis, future Alpha Queen, reject you Larze Pierce as my mate." He grabs his chest because of the pain from breaking the bond, but I feel nothing. "Furthermore, I hereby banish Alpha Billy Pierce and his son Larze Pierce from the Royal pack territory. The only reason I don't kill you both for plotting my death is because you are needed by your pack. However, if you ever disrespect me or any of my packs we will attack and disband your pack. Do I make myself clear?" Father and son stand from their seats, but are obviously angry. Alpha Billy speaks first, "You tramp! How dare you reject my son! You can't banish us from this territory!" "Actually, I can. I'm a Royal. I have every authority to do so. As for rejecting your son, I don't allow people to treat me with disrespect. Now, I suggest you gather your things before I through you off my territory myself." They look at me with anger in their eyes, but I just look them in the eyes. Four of my Royal guards come into the room, I'm glad someone thought to call them here. Eventually they turn and go gather their things with the guards watching them.  After I watch them drive away, I feel like a weight has just been lifted.  I head to my dad's office to get started on some work. I was about to start on the coronation invitations when the Beta and Beta female, Gamma and Gamma female, Abrham, and Austin all filed in. I get up and walk around the desk as the two ladies come over to hug me.  Camilla, the Beta female, speaks first, "We are so proud of you for your strength. That must have been very difficult for you." Sheila, the Gamma female, spoke next, "You did the right thing. If he had been your true mate, he would have gone to you at the funeral because of your pain. I think the Moon Goddess paired you with him was to make you stronger, tougher. Although, I did ask her why he had to come when he did." She rolls her eyes and I laugh at her.  The Beta and Gamma also hug me. Beta Ben tells me to take a break and go clear my head for a while, so I go sit on the front porch.  And this is where I find myself letting the darkness seep into my mind. I look out at my kingdom and I can't bring myself to care that I'm now their leader.  -Honey, it will get better. I promise.  -I hope your right.
