Emmi

Emmi POV Punch…Kick…Jab…Dodge. I was growing impatient with this particular opponent, my days training had been growing more and more tedious as the hours dragged by. Being the next head warrior, there were very few wolves that could actually match my strength and endurance, meaning that if our alpha, beta or gamma were not available to train with, then I would have to waste my time with a considerably weaker challenger, a lot like this one. Unlike others wolves, I had been trained for the position from a very young age. Alpha Aran had once told me that he had noticed my potential when I was still only an infant, so he began training me young, as to give me the best opportunity to become the best warrior I could be. Although, with all of my time being spent focusing on my physical training, my academic studies suffered. I knew the basics, I could read and write, do basic maths, I knew the geography of packs in our area, but other than that I had missed out on an intellectual education. When the rest of the pack children were leaving for school, I had stayed in the pack house, to be home schooled, but I was not being taught the average curriculum. My education concentrated on historical battle strategies and fighting techniques. I wasn’t just capable of fighting in human form either, as soon as I shifted for the first time I was instructed to also train in wolf form. My wolf, Carla was beautiful. She was pure silver, an unusual colour for a wolf, but no one within our pack mentioned it. Her fur was thick and silky, and glimmered whenever the light hit it. Her eyes were the colour of the clearest light blue diamonds, the way the orbs twinkled in the light, they may as well have been freshly polished jewels. The size of her was also astonishing, she was easily twice the size of an average adult wolf, and even stood a foot taller than alpha Aran’s massive wolf.   The contrast between my wolf’s colouring and my own complexion couldn’t have been any different. My hair was not the same, glittering silver as her fur was, but a deep auburn red and my eyes didn’t shine blue, instead they were the colour of hardened amber. The only trait we both truly shared was our irritable temperament and determination, we were not ones to suffer fools gladly. I rolled my eyes as the male beneath me whimpered, he had to be one of the weaker opponents I had faced, how he was even classed as one of our warriors was beyond me, he would be almost useless in an actual assault. “You really need to work on building up your strength, maybe hit the gym for more than an hour a day.” I advised the now, not so cocky warrior as I pulled him up from the ground where he was sprawled. “I do at least three hours a day.” I heard him grumble under his breath before he limped away with his head hung low, due to the shame of losing to a girl. “You know if you want a fair fight, I can be ready in ten minutes?” I smiled to myself as I heard the voice of my best friend. “I wouldn’t want to embarrass the future alpha of the pack…” I mocked, turning to face him. “Not to mention, injuring him would surely be punishable?” “You could always allow me to win.” He smirked. “It wouldn’t be a fair fight then, now would it?” “It would be fairer than taking on feeble little wolf like him.” He said, nodding towards the retreating loser. “Noah, don’t be so mean…” I scolded. “You know I am no match for anyone here. The only ones that can give me a real run for my money is your father and beta Mike.” Although I said the words, I knew deep down they were untrue. No one in this pack, not even the alpha really stood a chance against me in a fight. “And me…” Suddenly, as I attempted to walk away, I was tackled and pinned to the ground. “I have to give it to you, you have improved slightly...” I teased, before flipping us so I was now straddling him. “But only slightly.”    My eyes widened and a squeak left my throat as I felt something begin to harden beneath me, that was the last thing I was expecting. He was my best friend, and that is the only way I had ever seen him, I desperately hoped that it was just the workings of his horny teenage hormones that were the cause of this excitement, but I couldn’t ignore the change in his behaviour recently, the compliments and lusty looks. I jumped up from where I was positioned and ran towards the pack house, hoping that we could ignore this experience.   Noah POV Every part of my body longed for her, she was my best friend, but that would be the perfect contribution for a relationship. I hoped she would be my mate, I had turned sixteen a few months ago and I just wished that, in a fortnight on her birthday we will feel the mate bond. I wanted her more than I had wanted anything in my life, even if it turned out that she was not my true mate, my intention was to take her as my chosen. She would become my Luna, a position that she would be more than qualified for. She already had the full respect of the pack, not that she realised it. She didn’t seem to realise how truly special she was, which was what drew me to her even more. I had never seen beauty like hers before, her red hair gave her an appearance of hot headed danger and her golden eyes gleamed whenever I caught sight of them. She was also modest about her intellect, I don’t think she really knew how smart she was. Although, unlike other she wolves, she wasn’t taught how to keep a home and a family, she didn’t know the first thing about cookery and was absolutely useless at cleaning, but that didn’t matter. She would be my princess and be cared for accordingly. I knew I would never be able to tame her, her training would always come before anything, but if that is what made her happy then I would see to it that she had capable opponents to fight morning, noon and night. “Emmi, wait…” I huffed as I jogged to catch up to her. “You know us men can’t control that sort of thing. You were squirming around on top of me and it felt…” “Don’t even say it…” She cut me off. “It better have happened for that reason, because I don’t want something like that to ruin our friendship Noah.” Ouch. Well that kind of stung. Did she not feel anything for me? Not the slightest bit of attraction? “You know our friendship is what means the most to me…” I lied. “I would never do anything to jeopardise it.” “Good…” She said. “Because that is the one thing I treasure most in this world.” Ouch.
