Chapter 8

Eamonn There was a knock at the door. The person on the other end knocked just once. But that single knock could ruin my morning that had just begun. I knew who it was, that's why I'm not asking who it was. “Come in,” I readjusted myself on my bed. The last place I wanted to be was at the throne room. My head was bowed when the person fated to dent the peace of my morning stepped in. “Good morning, Alpha Eamonn.” A park maiden greeted me, it wasn't who I was expecting but… I smelled camomile tea just as she entered. Like another day, I would have wanted to drink that tea, but today was a lot more different. The scent of the tea did nothing to erase the strong scent that was laced on Ellie's fur. How could I erase my senses? My bed reeks of her smell. The sweet scent of her flawless skin. It was hard to sleep knowing that I wouldn't be able to envelop myself in her sweetness. My mind is clouded. Nothing feels alright, not after I was left without a choice but to show her out of my life, and out of the Park. I had to reject her for the good of my Park which in turn, hurts me deep down. It's hard to handle such betrayal. “Take it away. I do not want it,” I demanded, my eyes on the sheets that harboured Ellie's scent. “But master, you…” “If you don't leave my chamber this instance, you will be standing before your maker instead of your Alpha.” With that sweet threat, she bowed slightly and took off. The scent of my favorite tea was out with her. I was able to drag myself out of my bed into the shower, hot water rolled from my head to my spine. I leaned on the porcelain wall with my eyes closed. My mind is set ablaze and I can't help but think as to why things would happen how it did. I felt like I was the architect of my own problems. I turned up the heat of the water, maybe a little burn could get my mind right on track. The warm water grew hot with every second. Yes, this was what I wanted. The hurt. But was it erasing my mind of her? No. f*****g no. More like it made it worse. I stepped out of the shower and dry and my skin, there were burns on my skin from the boiling water. But that was the least of my worries, it will probably heal up in no time. At least I got a bit of what I wanted, hurt. I stepped into my dresser, I'm going for something casual. I do not want any cloth weighing me down more than I already am. Just a pair of blue jeans short with a gray tank top and a black leather boot to go with it. A simple wear. A knock came at the door as I checked out my horrible reflection in full size. “Come in,” I didn't care who it was this time. It wouldn't be the maiden that I scared away with a threat thought. “Morning, Alpha.” “What do you want, Brant?” “You have a meeting at the throne room with a couple of traders. I could reschedule it if you're not in a good mood, sire.” His eyes reflected on my reflection in the mirror as he spoke. I drew out a long breath, “Well, Brant. You don't always need me to be at a meeting you, yourself could handle on your own. But, as you can see, I'm dressed already. They will be there shortly, this Park needs to be governed by a devoted Alpha, isn't that right, Brant?” I asked with a facade smile to hide the restlessness in my heart. “You are right, Alpha,” he affirmed, “we will be at the throne room m, waiting for your arrival.” He said with a slight now and exited my room. His footsteps receded and I was back to drowning in my thoughts. Maybe I will really need to leave the throne room if I have to escape the image of her swimming through my mind. I made my way to the throne room, passing several guards in the hallway, each greeting me with a bow. On reaching my private door to the throne room, I tapped on a red button which signifies the occupants of the throne of my arrival. The buzzer at the top of the door on the other side sounded and the door opened automatically, allowing me access into the throne room. “All hail the Alpha of Black Park!” A guard chanted. The rest of my subjects, including Brant, bowed to show their loyalty. A small part of me feels unworthy of their loyalty. My subjects shouldn't hear of my deeds. “Morning, subjects.” I said in an uplifting voice, I feel a strange sense of paranoia that someone might know something relating to what they have done. They all straightened up and resumed their seats just immediately. These were tillers of the soil that keeps the agricultural sector of Shirlon strong and growing, they are the reason we all, the royalties included, I'm the areas where they needed blood from animals, were never left to starve. We had divided ourselves into four groups; the tillers, the builders, the miners, and the ones at the topest ranks, the protectors. In all, we were known as the soldiers and we all carried out our tasks respectfully. We came today to one park to celebrate ourselves for our hard work. “Tillers, I'm glad to be in your midst this morning. What is it that you seek?” An old man who was known to be there stood to speak but was cut short when the general door to the throne room swung open. There she was, the person I have been expecting since last night. She was struggling to get out of the firm grip of two guards. She's just as powerful as her sister. “Let her go!” I called the guards that held her. The guards let go of her and she headed towards me, her boot thumping loudly on the floor of the throne room like the little brave protector she was. “Morning to you, too, Isla.” I said as I watched her stride towards me angrily. “I demand to know why you banished my sister from this park, or you will get it right with me.” I said hesitantly as she halts a few feet from the throne area. She stood five stairs below the throne area, and I'm looking down at her like the little ant she is. A smile formed on my lips at her bravery, it's the same with her sister, maybe even more. “I will get it right with you, how?” She drew out a gun strapped around her thighs in the blue dress she had on. Pulling the trigger just immediately to point it at me, “This how,” she says
