CHAPTER FIVE U.S. Marshal Kane Wilcox ran a hand through his scrubby hair, which was damp with sweat from the hot desert sun, beating down upon his scalp. Then he climbed into his car and turned up the AC as far as it would go. He’d be happy to get out of this hellhole. The Rising Sun commune was, as far as he was concerned, the pit of hell.
