Chapter 16

"Oh, that is one big ball of ugly." I said. Looking around me, all of the people are bowing to the demon. The leader of the cult stood up and walked towards the demon. "My Lord, we bestow upon you the flesh of a human male, to possess here, during your time on Earth. We bestow upon you, just as the prophecy said, a human bride for this life and the next."     "James, I'm going to die." Harry whimpered.     "No, you aren't." I assured him firmly.     Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Jackson holding up the Bible I had taken. I looked at him fully and he pointed at the Bible again and gave me a thumbs up. "Jackson tricked them. He tricked all of us. Faking his own death was their plans. Joining our side was his plan. He knows he won't make it out alive though. Sneaky bastard." Harry looked at me in confusion. "Look, things are going to change a little. Fire is still in my plan though. Do you still have the compass?" Harry held the compass up. "Brilliant." I snatched the compass.     "Hey!" Harry shouted. He paused when the demon looked at us. He looked at me in annoyance and fear. "What do I do?"     "Well, he can't touch you do to the holy water. He can't touch me because the holy water, unless it no longer has any affect on us anymore." I said. He paled and pointed behind me. I turned and saw that the demon had moved to stand behind me. I eyed the ugly beast. The demon gave a toothy grin behind touching my face and giving me a look of approval.      "That confirms it. Holy water is done." Harry panicked.      "I feel icky now." I declared as I backed away from the demon.     "James!" Harry shouted.         "Go with the plan!" I hissed at him.     "I don't know what the plan is!" He hissed back.     "The plan is to do as I say and I play hero until we find a way to get to the river. Am I clear?" I asked.     "Hero? Seriously? Is that the best you can come up with? If that is the case, then I might as well jump into the fire and kill myself before demon dude here takes control of my body!" Harry ranted.     "Please don't. You have a strong will, Harry. All you have to do is fight the demon off. I know it won't be easy, but we will get through this. Am I clear?" Harry looked at me, unsure. "Harry."     "Fine, but just in case we don't make it out." Harry grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. He kissed my cheek and smiled at me. "You better win."     "I will." I whispered. Harry gave a nod and then sprinted. The demon growled and went after Harry. I took off in the opposite direction and headed towards Jackson.         I grabbed the Bible. "Good luck little sis." He whispered. I looked into his eyes and then glared at him. I raised my fist and threw a good punch. "I deserved that one." He held his nose, blood running between his fingers.     "Damn straight!" I snarled at him. One of the girls that forced me into the dress reached out to me. I kicked her in the stomach, knocking her to the ground. "Not today, b***h!" I ducked under Susan's arm and ran. I picked up the skirts of the dress and sprinted towards the line of trees.      In all honesty, I didn't have a plan. All I know is that it involves fire. I ran towards the west and pulled out a thing of matches from the pocket of the Bible. I dropped three matches and lit the fourth one. I ran to the east side and did the same thing.      I reached into my boot, I pulled a pouch of gun powder out. I looked at the fire that is now spreading on the east and west side, and then ran to the fire that the cult is surrounding. I was tackled to the ground by the cult leader. "You will not ruin this for us! We have waited so long for this!" She shouted. "Your friend has already been lost to the demon. You have lost!"     "That's what you think, witch." I laughed as she looked at me in confusion. I pulled the knife out of my boot and stabbed her in the stomach. Her eyes widen in pain as I pulled the knife out. I pushed her off and sat up. Looking around, I saw Harry walking towards me, only, it isn't Harry, if the look on his face says anything.     "My lord, what do you wish us to do?" A young female shouted.      "The ritual must be complete." He spoke smoothly. I looked around unsure. I met Jackson's eyes, who is being babied by my sister.      "Okay, what do I do now?" I muttered. The demon, or Harry, paused and let out a strangled cry. My eyes widen. "Harry?"     "Run, James, run!" He shouted.     "Not without you!" I shouted back. I took the knife and cut the front of the dress off. There were a few gasp, showing that I insulted a few people by cutting the dress. Adeline pumped through me as I picked the Bible up once more.      I flicked through the pages of the Bible and then paused. A section in the middle of the pages had been cut out. Big enough for a small vile that laid in the middle of the pages. I grabbed the small vile and turned it over in my hands. "Holy water." I whispered to myself.     I got knocked to the ground once again. Looming over me with a predatory grin. "Did you really think you could get out of this?" He hissed in my ear.      "Not right away at least. Did you think I would willingly let you claim me?" I snarled. He gave another toothy grin, which doesn't look right on Harry's face. Well, it's now or never. I punched demon, hearing the nose c***k. I cringed. Harry is so not going to be happy with me later. "Sorry, Harry."     I sprinted towards the trees, running faster as I heard the inhuman scream of anger come from Harry. "Sweet mother Mary, if I don't die tonight, Uncle Jim better pay for a good therapist for the both of us." I huffed as I jumped over a log. I didn't jump high enough. My foot caught on it, knocking me to the ground.
