Chapter 10 -

Sarah POV

I don’t know how but shorty after he carried me like a sack of potatoes, I fell asleep.

It could be exhaustion from not having any decent food or sleep for days or it could be his jacket that’s saturated with his scent that I was wrapped in like a cozy baby.

I only woke up to the sound of screaming men in what felt like bag and to my surprise it really was a bag, he stuffed me in a f*****g bag!

A real charming prince that one.

I don’t know how I slept through all that, it’s like I was drugged… did he drug me too?

I’d expect anything from such a horrible person.

He got me out of the bag and just grunted, gave some instructions to his men not to let me out of their sight this time.

Was there any another time?

He gave me one last angry look and left.

The asshole has the audacity to give me an angry look after what he did to me.

Anyways, they were on me like a hawk since he left a day ago.

Can’t deny though, feeling warm and having three full meals a day is pretty great considering I was eating from the trash the last couple of days.

We are at the dead of night when finally he comes back.

My wolf perks up and I can’t deny that for a fraction of a second I was excited as well.

He is the most gorgeously handsome man I ever saw.

“Let’s go” he says coldly.

“Where?” I ask anxiously.

“Just move” he orders.

“I’m not going anywhere with you” I say and that grants me a growl.

“What other choice do you have? Would you rather go back to the rogues?” he says in the most condescending way.

Well, f**k him.

“I wouldn’t mind it” I honestly answer, it’s better than wherever he is going to send me.

“Really, because I remember you I found you naked being chased by one, who was about to rape you” he says … his angry self coming back.

As if he cares, but if it rails him up. I’m all for it.

“Who sad he was? Didn’t he tell you it was consensual” I say crossing my arms.

He balls his hands and with a growl punches the brick wall next to him.

I jump back with fear but a part of me is enojoing getting to him.

He slowly walks towards me, his eyes flickering black.

“You are coming with me either you like it or not. You can come quietly and by your own will or you can kick and scream and be caught by the queen , and most definitely be killed… your choice because I don’t really care either ways” he says through greeted teeth.

Of course he doesn’t care, do I really expect anything more from him?

But I’d rather live another day, maybe I’ll figure up something and escape.

I stomp out of the room with him right on my tail.

Gabriel POV

Couple of days ago

“I.. I don’t know.. Gabriel” Maxima says out of breath before she loses her balance.

I run to her, and catch her just before she hit the ground.

“No, no, what’s happening?” I say to myself trying to wake her up.

What the hell is going on?

I have to take her to the hospital.

“She will kill us if anyone knew” phoenix stops me.

“What should I do then, look at her” I say panicking.

“the next best thing”

“This reminds me of the time she first shifted but a little different, not as severe. I can’t really tell you what would cause this now your majesty but for now, she just needs some rest, and hopefully she’ll be fine” Doctor Martin says.

He has been the pack’s main doctor and in charge of the hospital for more than 25 years now, according to Maxima.

He is trusted to keep this secret even from her parents.

“I’ll come and check on her again in few hours, please inform me if anything changed” doctor Martin says and all I can do is nod.

It’s been a couple of days now sense the incident.

Maxima woke up the next morning as if nothing had happened at all.

She said her goodbyes to her parents before they leave and avoided talking about what happened.

Anxious can’t begin to describe what me and my wolf are feeling.

Apparently, he can’t get much from Aleka as well, she was not the one to say much anyways.

She finds excuses not to shift and go for a run with me like we usually do 3 times a day, Aleka is a very powerful wolf who needs her relief and phoenix is more than happy to accompany her, so it became our thing, but not anymore apparently.

I know why she won’t go for a run, she is scared to shift and lose control again.

But that means that Aleka could snap at any minute now.

“Maxima” I call for her as we are taking a walk, not a run, just a walk.

We are near the border when she drifted away in her mind not even noticing that I stopped and she kept walking.

“Hm” she answers finally noticing that I’m not by her side.

“we need to talk, baby”.

“About what?” she asks like she have no idea what i'm talking about.

“you know what Maxima, you can’t ignore what happened forever, you won’t even shift” i confront her.

“I didn’t have the time to shift, that’s it. Don’t make a big deal out of it” she says dismissively.

“then shift now, we have nothing to do” I tell here.

“I don’t feel like it” she answers irritated.

“I’m your mate, I can feel you, I know you, I’d die for you… if you can’t trust me with what’s going on with you, who will you trust?”I plead with ther.

“seriously, there is no-… do you hear that?” she says on high alert.

“What are you talking about?” I ask trying to listen.

“It’s like chanting…a spell” she adds.

“I hear it too. Witches!” f**k!

“How the hell did they come that close to the border?” I wonder.

Without answering me, her eyes glow red and she shifts and run toward the sound.

“WAIT!” I tell her but she's already gone.

“WE ARE UNDER ATTACK” I link Zander, the royal beta as I shift and follow my mate.

In what felt like seconds we are a couple of miles away from the borders, I didn’t need to follow Aleka, just the trail of dead witches she slaughtered in seconds was enough to find the fight.

Without hesitation I join the m******e.

These assholes are no match for us. Their spells doesn’t work on us and without the magic they are just a bunch of weak humans.

So why the hell would they attack us?

It’s not like the few rogues they brough with them can do anything either to protect them.

I finish off my last victim as the rest run away and then I search for Aleka.

She is standing there in the middle of dead bodies, looking drained all of a sudden.

“Aleka” Pheonix links her.

No response.

She shifts back to Maxima who looks at me with her blue eyes before she faints.

I shift and shout for her “MAXIMA”.

I run to her not aware of what’s happening around me, or if the threat is really over, I need to have my mate in my arms now.

“Maxima. Wake up. Wake up”.

I’m so distracted by my mate I didn’t even notice the blooded witch that’s about to stab me.

As I turn all I see is the tip of her dagger.

Before I do anything, a hand comes from around her back and slit her throat.

She immediately drops to the ground, and I see someone I never expected to see again.

“Dad?!!” what the f**k!

“Hello, son” he says with full smile.

that's the second time he came back from the dead to save me!

“What? How? Why?” Is all I could say.

“Long story. What is happening here? is she okay?” Da.. Max asks as worried as I am , leaning down to check on her.

Maxima’s eyes suddenly flew open glowing red, which warrant Max to take few steps back.

“Maxima?” I ask not really sure who is in control now.

She notices Max and in a blink of an eye , she shifts and snarls at him.

“Hey hey, it’s your uncle Max” he says taking a step back but for some reason that infuriates Aleka more.

She let’s out an angry growl stepping forward so I step between them.

“Aleka, stop. He is my father. He is no danger” I try but it’s like she is not listening.

Zander , finally shows up with our warriors and that seems to snap Aleka from whatever state she is in.

“Looks like we are too late” Zander says looking at all the dead bodies.

Aleka looks back at me and walks away.

I’m about to follow her but phoenix stops me.

“Don’t. they don’t want us”

What?!

I’m about to ignore my wolf when my attention is pulled to a more pressing situation.

“Is that… is that” Zander too stunned to form a sentence, says pointing to Max.

“Dylan and Sophia’s boy right? I used to babysit you” Max says with a cheerful chuckle, his dagger still dripping with blood.

Okay, he is … different.
