CHAPTER 1
Cathy's POV The moment I stepped through the school gate, high pitched screams immediately echoed across the entire school ground from the noisy students. I was already used to this kind of welcome every time I arrived at school. It was a good thing I had grown accustomed to their noise because otherwise my eardrums would have been shattered a long time ago. I took a heavy breath and continued walking as if I were the only person there. Ignoring the noise, I just kept moving forward. "Notice me!" "I'm Jella!" "Hi, I'm your fan!" Those were just a few of the things I could hear them shouting. When I noticed that my friend was joining in on the squealing, I immediately approached her and pulled her away. "Ouch! Go easy, frenny!" she said with a frown as I dragged her along. "What on earth are you doing?" "Duh! Can't you see? I'm one of his fans!" she said dramatically. She was about to head back to the crowd to join them again, but I quickly grabbed her hair. "Ouch! You've been at it for a while now!" she complained and immediately removed my hand. "Are you crazy? You are seriously going to join that chaotic mess?" I asked in disbelief. "Yes, so bye for now! Lovelots!" She kissed my cheek and immediately ran off, screaming at the top of her lungs toward the person they were all crowding around. "JASEN, MY LOVES! NOTICE MEEE!" I rolled my eyes at the sight. They were causing an uproar over just one person. Seriously? I just shook my head and breathed deeply. I really could not understand why some people would scream like that just to get noticed by someone they admired. Sometimes, they even got into fights. Immature people. I turned my back and started walking toward my classroom. I really could not comprehend why they looked like they wanted to collapse on the floor just to be noticed by those guys. I mean, yes, they are handsome, talented, intelligent, and rich, but those guys are still human beings. Can't they just admire them from afar? Do they really need to shout and scream to be noticed? It really hurts the ears. When I reached our building, my face immediately twisted into a scowl. This was one of my daily struggles. I had to climb the stairs just to get to my classroom. Why did this design ever become a thing? It was pure torture. I took a deep breath and started stepping up the stairs. It was a good thing my room was on the third floor and not the seventh. I would definitely lose all motivation to attend class if that were the case. But I also felt sorry for the other students who had to walk such a long way just to reach their floor. Hasn't the school been informed that elevators have been invented? They were making us suffer. It was exhausting. It drained my energy. Upon entering the room, I immediately went to my desk and plopped my bag onto the chair. I pulled out my phone right after sitting down. Since I was bored, I decided to watch a Korean movie. I was smiling while watching when someone suddenly snatched my cellphone away. "What the f--" I said out of irritation, but I stopped mid sentence when I saw the furious face of our teacher. "In the Detention Room! Now!" she said angrily. I quickly stood up, grabbed my bag, and hurried toward the door. Frustrated, I stopped in my tracks and walked back to the desk where Ma'am was standing, still glaring at me. Swallowing hard, I approached her before speaking. "Ma'am, can I please have my phone back?" I asked hesitantly. To my surprise, I caught my phone just in time as she suddenly threw it back to me. "Out. Now!" I immediately turned around and rushed out of the room. I almost tripped in my haste, but luckily, I managed to grab onto a nearby armchair desk. I could hear my classmates laughing, but I ignored them because I could still feel our teacher's harsh glare on my back. How annoying! I am dead meat with Mom and Dad if they find out I got detention again. Ms. P was just too much, getting high blood pressure so early in the morning. I did not even know it was already class time. How was I supposed to know, when time flew by so fast? Haysttt... While walking toward the detention room, I crossed paths with some students heading to the field. They were wearing their PE uniforms, so I knew right away where they were going. Before they even passed me, I overheard their conversation. I wasn't planning to pay any attention and ignore them, but what they said really caught my attention 'I'm super duper excited! This is a dream come true! Ihhhhhh!' 'I wish it were Monday already so I could see the loves of my life!' 'It's a good thing I bought a VIP ticket right away.' 'Good for you having VIP, mine is just regular. The slots ran out, huhuhu!' 'That's fine. You'll still see them live.' 'Yesssss! And I really hope I can take a photo with them. But I might faint from nervousness. They are just so handsome!' 'If that happens, there's a chance one of the VYRUS members might catch you! Aaahhckkkkkk!' 'Oh my god! Yes! Ihhhhhh!' I stopped walking and followed them with my gaze as they passed by me. My face twisted into a grimace while watching them squeal. A VYRUS concert? VYRUS was a WPop group famous in various countries. Both girls and guys admired them. The group consisted of five men, and every music album they released spread like a literal virus across different nations. Almost everyone was affected by it. Sometimes, their songs would even trend on social media for years. Both kids and adults could keep up with their music. They weren't just great singers, they were amazing dancers, too. That was why people went absolutely crazy over them. I could not blame the others because their physical appearance was truly a jaw dropping sight. They were heartthrobs. Everyone's fantasy... And of course, my fantasy, too. If there were free hugs and kisses from them, I would definitely be at the front of the line. Of course I wasn't made of stone to be immune to their good looks. Kidding aside... Wow, I was judging those girls so harshly earlier, yet I turned out to be just like them. Tsk. But then again, that guy they were crowding around earlier hadn't even proven anything yet. He was so arrogant. He did nothing but show off to everyone how high and mighty he was. Unlike VYRUS, who had already done so much to help others. They had numerous charities and organizations. That was why I was a genuine fan of theirs. But it wouldn't reach the point where I'd start fights with other people. I wasn't a die hard fan anyway. I don't like to be one. I feel like I'll end up becoming toxic after a while. Just a happy fan, that's it. Someone who was content just seeing them from afar. But of course, screaming loudly enough to shatter plates while cheering for them was still part of the package. Ever since their group was formed, I always watched their live streams on social media. I just could not attend their concerts because tickets always sold out, or the venues were too far away, so I wasn't allowed to go. But it was fine, I just focused my attention on my studies instead. Besides, there would be plenty of other chances to attend their concerts. I'm disappointed, but there was nothing I could do. What happened, happened, so I would just make up for it next time. And speaking of the next concert, their live performance was scheduled for Monday. I had already bought a ticket, so I was incredibly excited. It would be my first time attending their concert. Even before the event, I was already a mix of nervous and thrilled. A Mixed emotions. The venue was almost a one hour travel from our place, but it was fine because I would be going with Eiysha, and Drea, my friend who was an ultimate VYRUS fan. "I know I'm handsome, Ali. Admit it. Stop spacing out in front of me." "W-what?" I blurted out. "I said, just admit that you have a crush on me." he said with a smirk. It was the guy who had suddenly popped up right in front of me. "What are you talking about?" Why did this guy suddenly pop up in front of me? Tshh.... "Don't deny it, Ali. You’ve been staring blankly at me for a while now." "You are so thick skinned. As thick as the encyclopedia I own." I said out of irritation. "Get out of my way!" I added, brushing past him. I was about to shove him aside to get through, but I noticed many pairs of eyes watching us, so I walked past him instead. I was already on my way to the detention room, so my offenses might increase even more if I engaged with him. Annoyed, I continued walking toward the detention room. My face was completely scowled. Confused looks from the other students I passed who were still outside their classrooms. I ignored them and kept walking. That annoying guy! Did he really think I was spacing out because of him? The nerve of that guy. But then again, why did I have to space out right in the middle of the hallway? My god! It was all those girls fault earlier. Now even I can't help but start wondering about those incredibly handsome guys. Hysttt... I kept walking until I finally reached the detention room. The supervisor looked up at me and shook her head, to which I could only offer a weak, awkward smile. It seemed she was already used to seeing me here often. She was probably thinking I was nothing but a headache. Quite true... Hehe. I just wrote down my name and signed the logbook. I went inside and took a seat on one of the chairs. Since I had nothing else to do, I decided to finish watching my K-drama. I was certain I would not be let out of here anytime soon anyway because I had to complete a punishment before being set free. Set free... Gezzz... It's giving a prisoner vibes... ******* "Villiana." I looked up from watching when my name was suddenly called. "Ms. Precy is calling you into her office," said Ms. Kelly, the detention room supervisor. "Okay, Ms. Kelly." "Follow me." she said bluntly. "Okay." I said while smiling. She raised her eyebrows at me, which made me confused. Is there something wrong? Why did she look like she wanted to eat me alive? "Ms? Is there something wrong?" "Fix yourself." "Huh?" I said, confused. She did not reply, she just turned her back on me and walked out. I looked down at myself. I really did need to fix myself. Two buttons of my uniform were undone, and my hair was a complete mess. I looked awful. I looked like I had just been in a catfight. No wonder Ms. Kelly looked at me with her eyebrows raised so high. I quickly fixed myself up and finally stepped out of the Detention Room. I would have celebrated my freedom if I hadn't suddenly remembered that there was still a punishment waiting for me. I hoped it wouldn't be too hard. I was already so tired. "Faster, time is running." Ms. Kelly suddenly popped up beside me and started walking ahead. I bit my lip to stop myself from cursing out loud. My heart almost jumped out of my chest from the scare. How annoying! I calmed myself down before walking faster to catch up with her. I did not know exactly where we were going, but I figured it was Ms. P's office. It looked like she was making sure I wouldn't escape after leaving the Detention Room. So Clever. "We're here." she said as she entered the faculty office first. I immediately followed behind. Otherwise, she might raise her eyebrows at me again. I actually had the intrusive thought to shave them off. She approached the desk of Ms. P, who was busy checking papers. "Good afternoon, Ms." I said in a sweet tone, matching it with a bright smile. I hoped this expression wouldn't turn into a grimace. I might just look stupid. But hang in there, Cathy, if this pays off, it might result in a light punishment or maybe just a warning. "Stop smiling. It's not funny." she said strictly, without stopping what she was doing. Because of what she said, I cupped my cheeks with one hand. I pouted and pretended to stretch out my mouth. Well, that was embarrassing. I just wanted the ground to swallow me whole. How humiliating! So embarassing! "As for your punishment. You will be our assistant for 5 hours. You will follow their orders, and you have no rights to complain." She didn't even look up when she delivered the news. Her focus remained entirely on the papers. "Po?" What did she just say? An assistant? For a whole 5 hours? "I do not repeat what I said." I quickly shut my mouth at her words. Assistant it is. Fvck!
