I woke up to a thin jet of light streaming though the bedroom window the next morning. Moaning at the unwelcome intrusion, I roll over, my arm draped over the considerably bulky form of Alexander lying next to me. “Good morning little mate.” His sleepy voice came from beside me. Still too asleep to form words, I simply grunt a morning and close my eyes once more. But any hope of returning to the land of sleep was destroyed when moments later, my stomach rolled uncomfortably in my gut, and a burning sensation rising up my throat. Opening my eyes in alarm, I scramble from the bed, tripping over Alexander and the sheets as I try to make my way to the chamber pot. I just made it in time, before the contents of my stomach emptied itself from everything that I had eaten the day before.
