Eva’s POV
As I enter the tent I am greeted by a middle age woman, she is a vampire I note due to how pale her skin is , she ushers me to sit on the bed as she starts to examine me, she smiles at me and asks me my name, I tell her it is Eva, okay Eva, we going to run a few tests to make sure you healthy in order for you to go back with us, she says, as she starts to draw blood from me, she takes the blood and puts it in a ,machine, she see me watching her, she goes on to explain that the machine is checking to make sure that I do not have any medical conditions, she takes my weight and height, you underweight she remarks, soon the machine starts making a noise, the woman turns to attend to it, I see that she is reading something on a screen, she nods her head a few times, than leaves the tent. I sit there unsure of what’s going on, hoping that I passed the tests so that at least my family will be taken care off, I also can’t help but wonder how the woman manages her job as she needs to handle blood.
The woman soon reappears, she looks a bit shaken up, dread fills me as I think that I did not pass, but she must have noticed the worry on my face because than she gives me a small smile, there is no need to worry you have passed, now it is just for you to wash up and dress, she points to a corner where there is water filled in a bucket and to cloths set beside it. I jump of the bed hesitantly not sure why I must change, you should move along soon we will be leaving and you need to be dressed she states before exiting the tent leaving me alone once again.
Once she leaves I do as I am told, not long after the woman reappears telling me to follow her, we move towards the large train, I look around trying to see my family, I see my mother with tears in her eyes as she waves at me, I want to turn and run towards her, but the lady is pulling me forward.
She makes me join a line with the others, soon there is another group moving towards us, I notice my friend Nick, he is our next door neighbor and we have known each other since before we could walk and I can’t help but smile at least I won’t be alone I think to myself, Nick makes his way over to me and engulfs me in a hug at least we will have each other he whispers, as he is being ripped from me and a growling noise is coming from the man that currently is holding Nick by his shirt, do not touch her he says or more like growls dropping him down, he steps towards me and I step back you are coming with me he pulls me towards the front of the train, hy let go of me I scream while trying to push his hand of me, I have never come into contact with another creature before this, he must be a werewolf , due to his large body and the growling noise he keeps on making.
We soon reach the front door of the train, he picks me up placing me inside the train, he follows me and pushes me down into a seat and then he sit across from me, his eyes never leaving me, I glare at him, they may have paid money for us but they didn’t have the right to just push us around.
A while later others start to enter the train I recognize doctor, she is carrying the baby that the mother gave up, she making cooing noises to the baby, I never thought vampire could be so nice.
Another man, not as big as the one across from me sits down next to him, I was wondering where you ran off to the new guy remarks, the big one doesn’t even respond.
The smaller looking man turns to me, and smiles, hi I am Evan what’s your name he asks me, uhm, my name is Eva I respond trying not to be rude but why is he speaking to me, well that’s a very nice name, how old are you he asks, before I can respond the man next to him growls, he turns his head towards Evan and tells him to shut up, Evan holds up his hands, as if he is serenading sorry Kaden but what’s up with you I am only trying to be friendly he says, well stop it go be friendly elsewhere Kaden tells him.
I am baffled by this strange man named Kaden but I turn away from them and look out the window.
Kadens POV
Ever since I laid eyes on her I have become possessive the minute any one looks at her I want to kill them I have never had this kind of reaction towards any other woman and she is under 16 years of age, what is wrong with me I am 4 years older than her, she is practically still a child, but still I feel the need to protect, I want take care of her so she will never need to come back to these ruins.
The train starts up and we head back home, we will give all those who came with us a good home, we need the humans to live at least what’s left of them, soon I hear the gates open and the train come to a stop at the general center here everyone we took will get assigned to their camps or homes and given their schedules, everyone must contribute in some way this will only ensure our survival
Me and Evan get up to descend the train and help the others, I look at Eva and she is still looking out the window, she notices us standing and attempts to stand up, no, I stop her, wait here I will come and get you I tell her, she looks uncertain but nods her head and sits back down.
Brother, what is wrong with you since when do you take such interest in the outsiders Evan asks,
I am not taking an interest its best if we separate them I respond, but what is the need for that he asks. Uhm well because they can plan to escape I tell him, he starts to laugh alright Kade I’ll drop the questioning for now but the next time I ask I expect a serious answer he says and walks of.
Yeah brother I am not sure that’s going to happen I think to myself because I am not sure what is happening myself, I follow him and head to the assignment desk, what can I help you guys with Erika the head on the assignment department asks, there is a girl named Eva I want her assigned to my house I tell her.
You know we do not take any special requests Kaden, everyone goes through the line and then get put into camps according to their test results very few go into houses , I cannot change the rules, where is this girl anyway, she tries looking for her, she is still in the train and she will be staying at my house I tell her, Erika takes Eva’s file and starts going through it, make her join the line and let’s see what happens she says, NO I growl out she will only leave the train when it is time for me to take her home.
Erika takes a step back, I will go and check on the process so far and see what I can do, she tells me and walks off, and I instantly feel bad she is my friend but the thought that Eva will be at a camp or another’s house kills me.
