Chapter 1
Crystal Pov
A bright smile made its way out of my face as I looked at the decorations in the sitting room. One balloon was about to fall so I rushed to grab it. I placed it back where it's supposed to be and looked at it again, I felt proud of myself seeing how beautiful I made it look.
While feeling proud of myself I remembered the present I prepared for him, I rushed upstairs and brought it out of my shelf, the gift is something I know he would cherish a lot because he's always wanted to get it for himself.
At this point I started feeling nervous. I checked the time and sighed.
“Why isn't he back yet?” I asked. On every normal day he should be back already and talk more about his special day.
I tried not to let anything bother me and just think about the reason for the day and why I'm preparing everything.
Today is Lyon’s birthday and today I got the best news of my life which is the only birthday present I prepared for him. I could imagine the big smile on his face already, finally we will be having our own child, which is something we've been praying for.
“Hello Amber.” I hugged her warmly, some guests were already present but the birthday boy is yet to return from work.
“This is beautiful Crystal.” One of them said to me, I let out a huge grin though I was nervous.
I tried calling Lyon several times but he wasn't picking my calls.
“What's going on? This is very unlike him.” I muttered.
I tried not to make it obvious that I was worried so the guests wouldn't notice, so I kept smiling and welcoming them warmly.
While at it I receive a message from an unknown number.
“Please excuse me.” I said to a guest I was talking to.
I checked the number again and it's a number I didn't recognize. “Who could it be?” I asked as I was opening the message.
The moment I opened the message I froze on the spot, my legs became numb, I looked around and I could hear the echoes of their voices.
“Crystal, Crystal.” I snapped out immediately and looked at Amber. “Are you okay?” She asked.
I nodded my head and slowly walked to my room. The moment I got into the room I checked the message again to confirm if I was seeing correctly or I was mistaking.
“No, Lyon would never do such to me, he would never betray me like this.” I muttered several times trying to reassure myself.
It felt like my world was crumbling. Not only is the love of my life in the picture, my best friend is also there.
“They won't hurt me this way.” I said to myself again trying not to lose my mind.
I sat on the bed, I was scared. Even though I tried to stop myself from believing what I saw in the picture, I was scared of losing my husband.
Few minutes later Lyon returned, he opened the good gently and walked into the room.
“You didn't tell me you had plans to surprise me.” He said to me with a grin on his face. I looked at his face trying to analyze the content of the image that was sent to me.
He had the same smile while on the bed with another woman.
“Well, that's why it's a surprise.” I scoffed and stood up from the bed. I kept thinking of the best way to ask the question, but I couldn't think of any.
I was losing my mind already. “Lyon, are you having an affair.” He froze on the spot looking me in the eyes. He didn't reply to me.
“Just deny it and I will trust you.” I said to him with tears struggling to come out of my eyes. Even though I could already tell from the look on his face and the picture evidence, I still hoped he would say no.
“Say something Lyon!” I yelled at the top of my voice. I sighted his phone and grabbed onto it, I decided to go through his phone and I saw everything, my heart sank.
“It's over Crystal.” My heartbeat stopped for a moment, my head was blank. No. This can't be happening. There was no way this was possible. how? When? I mean how did it all start and why did they even think of doing this in the first place.
My legs were numb, there was nothing else going through my head at the moment.
Blood rushed up my ears as a wave of dizzy spells hit me square in the jaw. I staggered back but Lyon didn't make a move to help me. My heart thundered in my chest, the vital organ threatening to tear through my skin. I looked at Lyon’s face again.
“Why!” I asked him angrily at the top of my voice. Lyon looked me in the eyes, the man standing in front of me was a stranger, his eyes were different from a few minutes ago when he first arrived.
“What was I supposed to do with a barren woman? Crystal, stop making it look like I'm the bad guy here, I couldn't be patient with you anymore, it's been over six years already.” The world around me swirled, threatening to knock me off balance. My vision blurred and my stomach churned.
I still couldn't wrap my head around the reality of what was going on.
“You were patient for so long, why did you ruin the beauty we shared?” I asked him with tears gushing out of my eyes. “And Ria? You could have gone for someone else, not my best friend!” I yelled angrily in pain.
“She wanted me as much as I wanted her.” Nothing prepared me for the reply Lyon gave me.
There's no way Ria would decide to betray me this way. “No, you're lying.” I said to him, still finding it hard to believe that Ria will intentionally give herself to him when she knows he's my husband.
“Stop it Crystal, Ria and I fell in love and chose to be with each other, you're more delusional than I thought.” He kept hurting me with his words, not minding how I would feel about what he was saying.
While we were still talking his phone rang, I realized it was still in my possession. I picked the call and just as I thought it was Ria.
“Lyon, it's true, I'm pregnant. Just got back from the hospital, I'm so happy, Lyon.” My childhood best friend was having an affair with my husband and I never knew.
“Are you there Lyon?” She asked. Lyon collected the phone from me and ended the call.
“You see why I said it's over? There's no point fighting over spilled milk.” Lyon said and walked out of the room.
I stood up and followed behind him. “Come back here Lyon!” I screamed at the top of my voice but he never turned back. “Lyon!” I kept screaming.
Everyone turned to look at me, I sat on the stairs crying like a whipped baby. Everyone present at the birthday party knew the party was over so they found their way out.
I snuck a glance at the room. The decorations that I was once proud of looked hideous in my eyes, each piece mocking me. Call me crazy, but I could swear I saw each item laughing and pointing fingers on me. I couldn't stand seeing them so I destroyed everything while screaming at the top of my voice.
When everything was already calm I was seated on the dining while In deep thought.
“What makes you think you have the right to embarrass my son like that?” I raised my head to look at the person talking to me
“Crystal!” She yelled my voice angrily.
