Time For a Party

Samuel 's POV…..

It had been 4 days since I gave Dean the potion. I hadn't noticed any real changes but my hope hasn't faded.

I walked into Dean's office and he was on the phone.

He waved for me to go sit down and I did.

"Ok , thanks see you there." He said before hanging up.

"What 's up? " I asked.

"Do you have plans for tomorrow night?"

" Well after not finding SilverCloud I thought you'd want to go looking for them. Why?"

" Well forget that, we have a party to go to."

Ok I was beyond weirded out.

"A what?"

" Oh that's where people get together sometimes to celebrate , sometimes just for fun…"

"I know what a party is."

"Good. I was beginning to worry."

"Where's the party?"

"It's Jack's birthday and he's invited us. I thought it would be fun plus he said everyone is going so I'm assuming your witch will be there."

"Wait, you don't want to go searching for SilverCloud and instead want to go to a party?" This sounded very odd.

" Don't worry we'll send the Alpha team to search, just search. If they find them they'll call us and we'll take it from there."

" Ooook sounds good."

"Great! We'll leave at 8 o'clock sharp. You should tell Lucia to come with us. That Girl doesn't go out enough"

“Yeah I’ll tell her and see if she wants to go.”

I walked out still confused, what had just happened?

He has never gone to parties, he hates parties and he wants Luce to go?

Something was definitely off.

Genevive's POV……

On our way to Jack's I was nervous, I felt jittery.

Did Jack really make me so nervous?

The appearance of small houses let us know we had entered the shifter territory. Shifters are very basic and simple beings. They are very comfortable to be around.

When we arrived at Jack's place it had the same simple design but was bigger.

Everyone was outside on the front lawn, the whole house was lit up and people were everywhere. I saw Jack at the big BBQ grill. He was wearing jeans, a dark blue buttoned shirt he wore unbuttoned and a black t-shirt underneath. He looked good as always.

He looked up and saw our SUV arriving, and walked towards where we were parking.

We got off and my sisters greeted him and wished him a happy birthday.

When it was my turn I decided to just act normal.

"Happy birthday Alpha." I told him giving him a hug. He tightened his grip and squeezed me . I pulled away and my sisters began giving him his gifts they had brought him.

" Thanks you guys , umm there's snacks on that table, drinks over there, and at the grill we have beef, shrimp, chicken and other stuff I can't remember." He told us pointing out everything. They looked at me as if asking for permission.

I smile at them, " Go guys have fun." They immediately scattered , Sonya was hesitant to leave , "Sonya go I'll be fine . I'm going to look for a restroom and then I'll join you guys." I assured her.

"Ok master."

She walked away and I turned and bumped into jack. "Umm could you point out the restroom please?" I asked him.

"Sure umm go inside the house all the way in the back past the kitchen."

"Thank you." I told him and quickly walked away.

I found the restroom and took like 15 min in it. I was just sitting on the bench inside the large room trying to remember why I had decided to come. I wasn't feeling any less jittery which was weird because I had already greeted Jack.

I finally decided to face the crowd and exited the bathroom.

It's like no one even noticed I was there so long.

Everyone was dancing , laughing, eating and just enjoying themselves.

I walked out of the house and saw my sister's mingling and I felt proud of them and a little envious. They didn't let our curse get in their way of living. If only I could be so carefree, but everything was always weighing me down. I was the single mother of 500 daughters and I took care of all of them.

Seeing as I wasn't being missed I decided to explore.

I walked behind the house and saw a trail that led into the forest.

I followed it. The path was made with small stones and was only lit by the moonlight. Then the path turned right but something seemed to be pulling me left. The left side wasn't cleared and kept like the right one was but I couldn't help it and turned left anyways.

It was rough getting through the brush. I felt a few scraps on my arms and feet . Of all the days I could have worn sandals it had to be today.

I was about to go back when I stretched my arm out to continue going through and felt an opening.

I used my other arm to help me push through completely.

A few scratches and cuts later I was in an opening in the middle of the forest. The moonlight let me see the leveled green plain of grass. Smack in the middle was a massive oak tree. It looked old because it had so many branches coming out of it. It looked like a spider web of branches. I looked up and the lack of light allowed me to see the stars. Millions of tiny lights decorating the night sky. I could see every detail I could never see before or didn't bother to see.

My nerves were suddenly eased. I felt in Peace I felt…home.

"Beautiful isn't it?" I was so startled. I jumped and gasped.

“ I'm so sorry I didn't mean to scare you." I heard the voice half laugh.

I turned around and recognized the face I was with.

"Alpha Aldren! How long have you been here?"

"A while ago , I watched you come out of nowhere and not even notice me standing here . But I can't blame you, who can see anything but all of that?" He said signaling to the sky.

" Yeah I guess some things just leave you mesmerized."

I continued to walk until I made it to the center of the field.

I looked up at the huge oak. The wind hit it just right and allowed me to inhale its scent.

I sat down on the grass and continued to look up. Then I noticed Dean was still beside me.

"Are you here for the party?" I asked him.

"Yeah." He answered as he sat down beside me.

" I didn't think I'd see you here." I said while still looking up.

" Why is that?"

" Well I've invited you to several parties and only your Beta has ever shown up. I figured you didn't like parties. Or Is it a witch thing?"

"Well there’s that.” He smirked.

“But mainly it's a me thing, the last party I went to ended in disaster so I avoid them. But I felt good about this one so I thought I'd give it a try. Turns out I was right, I should have stayed home."

I wondered if that was when he got rejected? I don't blame him for hating parties. I looked at him for what I thought was a second. He had a clean shave and his eyes looked like they glowed with the moonlight. He was beyond gorgeous.

"You're going to make me blush if you keep staring at me like that." He said with a cocky smile without looking at me.

'Crap he caught me.' I thought to myself.

I quickly turned away , " I wasn't staring at you." I assured him.

"Sure thing princess whatever you say."

" I'm not a princess." I snapped back.

"Are you not a direct descendant of Circe mother or queen of all witches and Castors?"

" Yes..but…"

" Then that makes you a princess."

I rolled my eyes and continued my star gazing.

" Where's your Beta? I thought he was glued to your hip." I teased.

He chuckled the sexiest chuckle ever, I didn’t think he ever laughed.

" Well tonight he seems to be glued to your sisters. I'm glad he's getting interested in someone."

I didn't answer him and he noticed my concern.

" You don't like the idea of my brother and your sister?"

I shook my head," It's nothing against your brother I just worry about my sister. She wouldn't be the first to fall in love then dumped when the other finds their mate."

He grew silent and I could only imagine what he was remembering.

"I could stay here forever." I said trying to bring him back from wherever he went.

He snapped out of the trance he was in and looked up back at the sky.

"Right? No problems, no expectations,no responsibilities. Hey, maybe we should." He laid on his back with one arm under his head and the over over his chest.

" Just lay here and wait for a friendly reaper to come looking for us."

" What about your pack ? They need you."

" I don't think so, I'm sure they're better off without me." There was hurt in his voice and I could tell he really meant it.

" I doubt that. Every pack needs their Alpha, they lack stability without him. I'm sure they care deeply about you and I'm sure you haven't noticed."

"What makes you so sure?" he asked almost like a snap.

"I've met your Beta and it's obvious he loves you."

"He's my brother so that's not saying much."

"It's not the siblings obligation to love you. That love and trust is earned. And it's obvious he loves and respects you."

He supported himself on his elbows and looked at me inquisitively.

" You seem to know what you're talking about."

" I'm a witch, remember?" I smiled flirty.

Oh my Goodness was I flirting with him?

I stopped looking at him before he noticed and I looked back up at the night view.

"I should really go." I said. Standing up and dusting off my bottom.

I began to walk away when Dean called out to me.

“Hey, when are you gonna tell me what favor you want?”

I looked back and shrugged, “When I need one.”

I walked away feeling the need to go back. I felt like walking away was wrong. I think I was intrigued by Dean. I wanted to know if the potion was working. I wanted to know how he felt, what he was thinking. I just shook my head and kept walking back to Jack’s house. I was giving this guy way too much importance. But I did notice he was less defensive than before. So that was progress.
