Genevive's POV........

I opened my eyes, blinking them several times trying to adjust them to the light pouring in from the balcony doors and windows. I laid there trying to enjoy the nothingness of the morning. I looked at the clock on the wall moving slowly. I followed the small hand with my eyes and it marked 7:30, I decided to wait 5 more minutes. I felt like my eyes shut for a microsecond when I opened them and the clock read 10:30. Holy crap! I jumped up and rushed into my walk-in closet rubbing my eyes trying to wake completely up. I walked in and immediately noticed the long sleeve white flowy dress carefully placed on the closet island. I solved the mystery quickly, Sonya. Sonya is my 50yr old assistant and second in command. I am Coven leader of my coven, Hecate coven. Along with that I'm Grand Master of all other covens, if witches had royalty I'd be Queen. Sonya is always trying to dress me in dresses and attire she thinks is "appropriate" for a grandmaster but with our age difference we sometimes clash in that aspect. I looked around my closet and saw a long pants jumper, it was champagne color, satin and had a very low neckline. I smile and grab it along with some heels to match. I walked into the bathroom and started my shower I know Sonya is gonna arrive any time now so I have to hurry. I got out of the shower and started getting ready, after I'm done I looked into the mirror and liked the result. My ebony hair and olive skin tone make my violet eyes stand out. My eyes ,that's why I'm Grand Master. There is a violet eyed witch every 500 yrs and her reign is an era of change and prosperity. The last Grand Master made Hecate coven what it is today. Hecate is the capital of the northern lands. The capital is surrounded by smaller villages, they each have a watcher. Not everyone living in the villages or the city are coven members but they are under coven laws and protection. Each village has a Watcher, the Watcher of each village is in charge of making sure everyone has what they need and everyone pitches in to help the village succeed. They also are in charge of recognizing people in their village who have the magic Gene and train them and send them to the city to continue their training until one day become part of the coven. The families of these women are rewarded when their daughters become coven members. They're social status is elevated and one wish is granted. This wish can be anything they want and over the years I've heard almost everything . Even revenge for some wronging, although it has been asked several times only once have I granted it. I heard a knock on the door , I'd recognize that crazy knock anywhere. "Come in Sonya." I shouted from the bathroom while I added my finishing touches.

"Genevieve? Oh good you're up" she sighed in relief.

"Up and ready." I said exiting the bathroom. I looked at her and her face had disappointment written all over it.

" You could of at least worn the dress for the ceremony, the Alphas will be here."

I rolled my eyes as I walked to my vanity to apply my perfume.

"I don't dress for the Alphas Sonya."

I turned around to face her, "What do you think?"

She looked at me from head to toe and stopped at my cleavage . " Ummm maybe something here." She said pointing to her chest. I turned around and looked into the full length mirror. "Oh my goodness you're right!"

Sonya smiled victoriously, she saw me grab my long charoite necklace and put it on. My mother gave me this pendant and I always wear it. "Not that!" She shouted as I exited the room.

"Come on Sony there's bunch to do and it's getting late!" I shouted from the hallway.My living quarters in the Manor is like a small house. It had my master bedroom and a guest room. A kitchen, dining room , living room, 3 bathrooms and a laundry room. Yes I do my own laundry and most of my chores , we do have help in the Manor because it's a big place but I take care of my living quarters. I don't like people waiting on me, so I try to do my personal chores myself. I walked into the kitchen and heard a" Uuuu Master you seriously wanna drive the alphas mad huh?"

"Good morning Talia, are those for me?" I asked, pointing at the pile of files on her lap.

"Oh yes, sorry." She handed them over and I exited the kitchen signaling her to follow me and Sonya that had already made it to the kitchen.

We walked to my office where the rest of the council were waiting for us. My council was made up of 6 of my most trusted and strongest sisters, James, Row, Ash, Camila, Talia and Sonya.

"Hello ladies." I greeted them. They all smiled and bowed.

"Is everything ready? I asked them . They smiled and started informing me of the arrangements they had made.

Everything was ready ,today we would welcome 20 new members.

Around 1 pm guests started arriving and with them the Alphas. If you're wondering what my problem is with the Alphas the truth is I have none really. They pretty much stay in their territory and we stay in ours. But they're hypocrites. They shake my hand and play nice but I Know deep down they hate that a woman is in charge of the northern lands.

Our continent is divided in 5 .

The north belongs to us, the east to the Lycans, the west to the Vampires and the south is divided between the werewolves and the shifters.

Well that was before the Lycan Alpha went power crazy and conquered the werewolves . The now Alpha King reigns over the east an half of the south, Goddess only knows if he's going to stop there.

We used to have the biggest territory until now. Now we and the Lycans are equal in land.

My sister's and I walked to the auditorium where everyone was gathered. The large wooden pillars at the entrance were covered with green vines and flowers of every color.

We walked in and everyone quieted down and focussed on us.

I've never quite gotten used to being the center of attention. It makes me nervous.

The ceremony went smoothly, the new members were welcome and introduced into the coven.

Now the annoying part, mingling.

I walked up to the new members that were surrounded by my council sisters and the rest of the coven.

I greeted them more personally and talked to each one. I knew Sonya would walk up any moment wanting to go greet the Alphas and I was trying my best to stall.

I was feeling accomplished with my ability to stall when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Gen you have to go say hi" Sonya said to me, lifting her eyebrow.

I rolled my eyes and huffed out in frustration, " Argh ! Fine, let's just get this over with."

We turned and walked to the first Alpha, Alpha Henry Carver.

Alpha Carver is the Vampire Alpha he was easily 6'1, medium built, pale skin, golden eyes and dark black hair.

Gorgeous but very full of himself.

"Alpha Carver thank you for coming." I stretched out my hand and be took it and shook it. His coldness made a shiver go down my spine.

"Wouldn't miss it, my coven loves your parties and I wanted to see your new members first hand. They look promising."

"They do , don't they? We pick our members very carefully." I answer.

"All though I'm not sure why you would need so many members ? I mean you've never seen a war . I don’t think they’d know what to do if that happened"He said half laughing.

Sonya saw my reaction and she gently placed her arm on my back telling me to relax. She’s right, now is not the place or time.

I exhaled and smiled.

"Well although war has been avoided in my reign it has happened before and believe me when I tell you we are efficient and capable of defending ourselves against any kind that may think to go against us. We are always prepared."

Henry gave me a mischievous grin and nodded in agreement.

"Now excuse me, I have more people to greet. Enjoy yourselves."

I smile at him and walk away.

The next one is Alpha Jack Enlund ,the shifter Alpha.

Jack wasn't as tall as Henry but taller than me , he has a slim frame but you could see he worked out. His arms were well shaped and looked amazing for cuddling. He had aqua blue eyes and dark black hair.

"Alpha Enlund ."

He quickly took my hand and placed a kiss on the top of it.

" Gen gorgeous as ever and I've told you before it's just Jack."

"How are you Alpha?" I tease accentuating the Alpha part.

"Ouch cold as ever."

"I didn't think I'd see you here tonight."

"Why is that?"

"I heard you found your mate, I figured you'd be in a honeymoon phase."

"What!? No no no. My Beta found his mate, that must be what you heard."

"Hmmm maybe." I shrugged.

Still holding my hand he pulled in close to me . "So ...are we gonna have that dance this time?"

I wiggle my hand free and step back, " I'm sorry Alpha tonight I have to focus on my guests. Have fun."

I quickly turn around and walk away not letting him answer.

I've thought about Jack before I know he has feelings for me and sometimes I feel like giving in. But I quickly get these thoughts out of my head. I will not risk going down that road.

Finally I make my way to Beta Samuel, Beta to Lycaon pack . Samuel is 6'1, chiseled face, long nose, green eyes with medium length hair. The Alpha King has never attended one of our gatherings. I've never met him.

"Beta, nice to see you again."

He shook my hand and quickly let go, I always knew the Lycans don't trust me or my kind.

" Grand Master , always a pleasure."

Hypocrite I think to myself.

"I'm truly sorry my Alpha couldn't attend, he had important matters to attend to. But he sends his regards ."

"Don't worry we all know how busy the King can get. Well we're glad to have you, enjoy."

I started walking away when I felt him pull my forearm.

Sonya quickly grabbed his hand trying to free me from his grip.

I quickly turned to Sonya to defuse her.

"Something on your mind Beta?" I asked, bearing my now glowing eyes into him.

He quickly let go , " May I have a word with you, in private?..please."

I looked into his eyes and tried to decipher his intentions. He seemed desperate, he has never asked to meet in private so beyond anything else I was curious to see what he wanted.

"Sonya, please escort Beta Samuel to my office. I'll be there in a minute."

"Thank You."

Was all he said and followed Sonya to my office.

I searched for Row and James and had them follow me as back up.

When we reached my hallway Samuel and Sonya were standing in silence. We reached them and I opened the door and let Samuel in.

"Please stay outside but on alert." I whispered to my sister.

I walked into the office and closed the door behind me.
