A Secret Meeting

Genevive's POV.......

I walked over to my desk and signaled the beta to sit in the chair in front of my desk.

I sat in my chair and crossed my legs waiting for him to speak.

"Well? What can I do for you?"

He stayed silent for a minute before he spoke.

"It's about ...my brother." He hesitated. I guess he was trying to form his words in his head. "He's disappearing and I can't stop it."

I scrunch my eyes in confusion, "What? Who's your brother and how is he disappearing?"

" The Alpha King..."

" He's your brother?"

"Yes."

"I didn't know he had a brother....and he's... disappearing?" I asked without understanding.

Samuel took a deep breath , " What do you know about him?"

I shook my head, "Not much, I didn't even know he had a brother. I mean I know you were an average size pack until you took over for werewolves." I shrugged, " Not much as you can see."

"Can I tell you a story? I know you're busy tonight, but you have to know everything if you're going to understand."

He was right. I was busy,but I was interested and I didn’t even know why.

"I'm done for the night so take your time." He seemed relieved to hear that and sat back in the chair a little more relaxed.

I waited patiently for him to begin,whatever it was I could tell it affected him and I know for a fact he doesn't trust witches so this must be hard for him.

" When my brother and I were kids there were 2 things my brother knew as infallible facts. 1, he would become alpha and 2, he would have his one true love and mate by his side.

He grew up training and being groomed into an Alpha and he grew up idolizing and craving the love and bond our parents had. When he turned 18 he started going to mating parties. Those are gatherings were unmated wolves and lycans get together to.."

"I know what they are." I interrupted. Samuel nodded and continued.

"He went to these parties for a while and found nothing. After our parents died the need to find his mate became even more dire. We needed our Luna. But she didn't show , one year at one of these parties he finally found her.

He found her , met her and she rejected him all in less than 10 minutes. After all those years wanting her, waiting for her, being loyal in body and soul to her, searching for her, hoping she was just around the corner she simply rejected him. I took him home that night. The strong confident Alpha I knew wasn't there. A scared confused Alpha took his place, he was crying and couldn't understand why. Then something happened. He said his insides were on fire and he felt like his beast was dying. I could see a light in his eyes fade out and I knew what was happening. His mate was being marked by someone else and he felt all of it. I convinced him to accept the rejection to stop the pain he was in and when he did the person I had before me was not my brother. The man, the Lycan I knew, has never come back. That's when the wars started. He knew his mate's name and searched everywhere for her and her pack until he found it. It was a small pack and even though lycans and werewolves always saw eye to eye and lived in peace Dean destroyed that pack. Thank the Goddess he didn't find her there or I don't even want to know what he would have done to her.

He was cold, calculating , always wanting more. The once 30 yr old virgin became a man w***e overnight, always a new girl, a new fight he never has enough."

"So what's the problem? I mean I don't want to be mean but your pack grew. Your power grew and your Alpha is now an alpha King. How is that bad?" I asked him.

"The problem is he doesn't know friend from foe, he doesn't know the difference between his pack that love him ,his ranking lycans and the people that are willing to stab him in the back. His Delta has left him and he's changed gammas three times. If he continues this way he'll lose his pack."

" If that happens doesn't that mean you become Alpha?" I asked.

" I'd never do that to him."

I could tell he hadn't even considered it but I wanted to make sure what intentions he actually had.

"Ok. So what exactly do you want from me?" I asked. I mean really his brother sounded complicated. What could I do for him?

"When he was rejected something happened to him."

"Damn right something happened to him, his heart was broken."

Samuel shook his head, "It's more than that, I know something bad happened to him. It's like something in him broke, I mean literally broke. If anyone can figure out what happened to him I know it's you."

" How do you know that?"

"Because I've asked around, only you can figure out what's wrong with him." For some odd reason it didn't take me 2 seconds to decide.

" Fine . I'll help." I don't know why I agreed to help , they meant nothing to me. I didn't even know the alpha King, but I felt compelled to help him.

"Really?!" Samuel's eyes widened and relief washed over his face. "Thank You so much. Of course I'll pay whatever you want."

" Slow down beta first things first. How are we gonna get him here to evaluate him? I doubt he knows you're here talking to me about this."

"Gods no! He'd kill me, this meeting has to stay a secret."

" Then how do we do this?"

Samuel thought in silence for a moment then smirked.

" SilverCloud , his ex-mates pack is planning something to attack us. I was just informed of this and I haven't had the time to tell him."

"Ok?"

"You'll call him tomorrow and tell him to come discuss something important. If he doesn't want to come I'll convince him . What do you think?"

I nodded slowly, "It could work."

"It has to."

"Fine. It's settled, I'll call him tomorrow."

"There's still the question of payment." He told me .

I don't need this guy's money , plus I wasn't doing it for the money.

"Beta, let's first see if there's something to be done. Let's see if there's something really wrong with your Alpha and make sure this isn't just a case of a guy turning into a jerk just because he can. Then we'll discuss payment. Deal?"

He stood up and stretched out his hand Infront of me. "Deal."

I stood up and shook his hand and we were accomplices.

He turned around and left after saying goodbye to my sister's outside.

They immediately rushed in as soon as he left.

"What did he want?" Sonya asked.

I sighed , "We have a job to do. Gather the council for tomorrow morning, I'll inform you all there." Sonya nodded and I walked out going back to the party that was still going on. I looked around for Beta Samuel but I guess he had left already .

" He just left." A voice behind me informed me like he was reading my thoughts.

I turned around and found Jack looking at me like a panther eye balling his prey.

"Alpha. Who left?" I asked, trying to sound oblivious. Jack just huffed and rolled his eyes. "Your Beta."

I raised my eyebrow, " Excuse me ? My Beta?"

"Well you left him for a while I just assumed...."

" Do yourself a favor Alpha...do not assume anything with me."

He leaned in closer to me, eyeing me from head to toe.

"I'm so glad to hear that." His voice sounded smooth and deep. His face was inches from mine. His Aqua blue eyes seemed to glow and looked beautiful. " When are you going to let me sweep you off your feet? Just a chance, just one , that's all I'm asking for Genevieve."

I took a step back , "You know I don't do that Alpha."

"Would it kill you to call me Jack?"

"It just might Alpha." I gave him a small smile and walked away.

I heard him call out my name but I wasn't going to turn back. Like I said I was not going down that road.
