Chapter Twenty-one New Reality The evening of Thursday, May 16th, 1996, Jae-sun arrived at Prison Camp 15, Section 9. He missed the 6:00 p.m. meal line, but learned the next day not much was missed. He was assigned to Block One, the name they’d tattooed on his forearm. Block One was on the end of the first building next to the fence. The section of the building named Block One was a long narrow room with one door in the middle of the long wall facing the courtyard. Thirty-five two-man bunks filled the far wall—one man up, one man down. Thirty-four more bunks filled the door-side wall, seventeen to the right of the door and seventeen to the left.
