Chapter Twenty-two A Calling A sense of urgency quickened Jae-sun’s steps. He finished preparing and serving the 6:00 p.m. meal, and hurried to be inside his Block before 8:00 p.m. Just before the horn announced curfew, Jae-sun stepped through the door. A truck arrived at the gate. Jae-sun walked inside to the end of the barracks to watch the truck through the cracks between the boards. The truck parked where it did when he’d arrived in this hell. The guards ordered the nine souls in the truck to disembark and line up in front of the administration building. Six men and three women complied.
