“Philip!” Adam’s voice was filled with fear as he shook him, trying to see if he was dead or alive. “Please, Philip, move, say something, anything.” The car had plummeted down the slope, miraculously managing not to hit any of the few trees on the way. It had stopped sharply with its front tires just inches from the river, and the airbags had deployed, saving them from going through the windshield. Philip moaned and opened his eyes, trying to remember what had happened. The second he did he turned to make certain Adam was all right. They both sighed in relief to see the other was alive and apparently uninjured even though they were badly shaken.
