“Meet my friends.” Duncan says casually, pointing at two men standing in the room with us.
Their suits look expensive, but their eyes that are measuring me from head to toe, are the cheapest I have ever seen. It doesn’t seem like they are here for Duncan and that terrifies me.
“Well done, Dunc. You said you'd deliver, and you did.” They speak as if I am not even here. Every single alarm in my body is blaring at maximum volume when I watch them exchanging approving looks while rubbing their hands over their chins like perfect villains.
“Duncan?” My voice breaks their moment, and all eyes are on me once again, burning holes in my confidence to speak again.
“I told you, you’ll make all the difference,” he smirks at me, showing teeth that somehow, at this moment, should probably belong to a shark, not a human.
Again, that talk about difference. The riddle, that horrifies me now more than it did before, because at this very moment, I can feel the danger as their gruesome ogling is making me want to run as far as I can.
“Duncan,” I plead again, eyes filling with tears and a lump forming in my throat. “Don’t do this.” I don’t even know what ‘this’ is, but I know that it’s not going to be anything good. The iciness in him says more than words he is keeping unspoken.
“Let’s get started. Shall we?” One of the men said.
My eyes are begging with Duncan, who avoids looking at me, but from the corner of my eye I can see the men taking their coats off. Ready to get started with something I don’t want to think about.
Tears are now heavily running down my face. Fear is cutting itself through me with a blade that hurts both, physically and emotionally.
“I need to see the transfer coming through. After that, she is all yours.”
The scream that rips through me and frees itself, filling the room with my cries, marks the beginning of the end of my life.
Everything is stuck. I can’t utter a word, I can’t take a breath, I can’t stand on my own feet. My cries full of panic are the only things I can produce after I hear his ominous words.
He sold me. He sold me like I am merchandise instead of a person.
I want him to look at me. I want him to see that I love him. I want to plead for my life.
But I can’t speak.
I can’t save myself. Not this time.
Most of my chess pieces have fallen now.
After that thought, everything moves in slow motion. Duncan shaking their hands, walking out leaving me behind like he never even knew me, like I was gush of wind that blew over him once and was forgotten as soon as the air calmed. Like I was nothing.
I felt my weak body being yanked from the floor to the bed by my arm. The pain that shot through my body was nothing compared to the pain in my heart.
One of the men slapped me across the face and then squeezed it with his hand and pushed it to the side. His lips were making a trail from my collarbone to the ear, his sickening breath lingering on my skin. “You just have to enjoy,” his words are the same that Duncan spoke.
I am so stupid.
I close my eyes to breathe because I can’t do that while seeing them, seeing the chaos unraveling around me.
“Good little lamb.” The other one speaks, and I can feel them both moving on the bed, untying my robe and groping me at the same time.
‘Not without a fight’ I tell myself. I ain’t no lamb. I might be stupid, but I am not going to be an easy prey for these bastards. I know it is going to be like I am entering a knife fight with only my bare hands, but I would rather be butchered than give up.
No plan in mind, no real expectations of getting out of this mess I am in, I start kicking and screaming. For a second, I can tell they are surprised at my sudden outburst and at that moment I bolt out of bed running toward the door, not even worrying about being almost naked except the robe that might fall any second.
I am about to grab the handle, but before I manage to open the door, my body slams against that very same door with such force, I can hear something break. I don’t feel the pain yet. Just the crack coming from inside of my body.
One of them takes a handful of my hair and pulls me back and with a swift movement I am again on the bed, facing them.
“Hold that b***h down, Tyler,” says the one who stopped my escape. He is angry now.
I try to fight off Tyler, who tries to tie my arms together and then the pain rushes in. My fingers, my fingers are broken and with every movement, the pain becomes more and more unbearable.
I scream out as loud as I possibly can. Someone has to hear me. Someone has to save me. And then another strike hits my face, blurring my vision, making me nauseous, fading my consciousness until everything is dark, cold and lonely.
With that, they took my king. I was defeated and my chessboard was knocked over.
“Welcome back princess.” Voice that brings chills is the first thing I hear when I try to move myself, but I can’t.
I am stretched out on the bed, and I have no control over my body. I am tied down.
The scream I want to let out scratches my dry throat and dies before even a single sound comes out. I try again, but everything hurts. Continuous pain overwhelms my body as I try to shift it. I turn my head to look around and seems like my left eye is swollen shut, I can feel the dried-up blood covering my face.
“Don’t worry Marco and I are not done yet,” one of them says while laughing. “We are just getting started, little lamb.”
Tears that gather, sting my eyes. I wish I could black out again. I can feel what they have already done. I feel the burning, the pain and wet sheets. But the physical pain is nothing compared to what I feel in my heart. There is no point in listing the feelings 'cause it’s not going to take them away, not going to make it easier to bear.
They are constantly talking, talking about what they did, what they are about to do. Their words are meant to mock me, taunt me. Their compliments are not praising, they are demeaning. I am just a piece of flesh to them. And after they are done, I am garbage. Garbage to them and to me.
I feel the bed tilt under me and crying intensifies, but I don’t let them see that. I press my eyes shut and swallow the sobs that seek for a release.
This time I don’t black out. I feel every horrible thing they do to me. I hear all the nasty comments they make. I endure through all the pain, from slaps to hits, from twisting my arms to breaking the bones in them, from biting to penetration. I am present for all of it, dying inside from the humiliation, pain and devastation.
I have heard people can exit their bodies during traumatic experiences or even shut down their minds. I would give anything to do that right now. To let my mind wonder freely and not to know what they are doing to my physical body, what they have been doing for hours.
It’s hard to tell how much time has passed when they take another break.
I have come accustomed to the pain now. It’s all I feel actually. Pain and emptiness.
And then I hear it. I hear them say her name. I hear them brag about how this setting was more convenient. How they had to rush with Yasmine and couldn’t enjoy it like today. How this, today, was money well spent.
My Yasmine. My sweet Yasmine. Duncan sold his own family member to these creatures. And I gave myself to him, making me the next in line.
Yas must’ve known who did this. That’s why she didn’t go to the police, didn’t fight.
How can you fight with the devil itself without getting destroyed in the process? Now I understand why she chose the easy way out. Why she left me.
My thoughts were cut short as round three or four or five was about to begin. Who is counting, right?
Everything started all over again, only this time, my mind was occupied with Yasmine and probably many other girls who were before us or would come after. So many shattered lives. So many killed childhoods.
Anger was starting to build up inside me. Anger for Yasmine, for whoever suffered because of them, anger for me. If only I was strong enough to vow a revenge. To make a promise to myself to make them suffer just as much. To make sure they never hurt anyone again. If only I was powerful enough to do this.
What I can make, is a pledge to try to become strong and powerful to stop them. And even if I don’t, I will haunt them for the rest of their miserable lives.
It is hard to tell how long I have been tied up in here. How long they took their sweet time with me or how much of me is even left?
What I know is that they finally took off, leaving me here as a bloody lump.
Like I said, I was stupid, but so were they. Assholes referred to each other by their names.
If I survive, I will come for you, Duncan.
Marco and Tyler, you will see me again as well.
