Lovers Guilt- Episode 1: The chance encounter
Amelia Hart had always believed her life was predictable. She worked at a small bookstore in town, sipped her caramel lattes every morning, and read her way through every love story she could find. Yet she never imagined her own would begin in the most ordinary place—a crowded coffee shop on a rainy Tuesday.
The bell above the door jingled, and in walked Daniel Cross. He wasn’t like anyone else in that room. Tall, broad-shouldered, with storm-grey eyes that seemed both troubled and captivating, he carried himself with the kind of quiet confidence that drew glances. Amelia noticed him immediately, though she tried to hide it behind her book.
When Daniel ordered, his voice was deep, smooth. She hadn’t realized she was staring until he caught her eye. He smiled, just faintly, and something inside her shifted. Her cheeks flushed as she buried herself deeper in the novel, pretending to read.
Moments later, the chair across from her scraped. “Mind if I sit?” he asked, holding his cup.
She stammered. “Um—sure.”
Their conversation started awkwardly—about the weather, the long line, the book in her hand—but soon flowed with surprising ease. Daniel was witty, attentive, and carried a sadness behind his words, like shadows clinging to light. Amelia wanted to know more.
When she finally left the café, her heart raced. She didn’t even know his last name, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that she’d just met someone who could change her life forever.
