Chapter 2: Soul For Sale (2) *** ‘Tsk…’ The man headed towards the beggar and pulled out a five dollar bill from his pocket. “Here you go.” He said with a gentle smile on his face. “Thank you young man… you have no idea what this means to me!” The beggar said as he held the money in his hands. It seemed like nobody had given him anything that day, so the gesture seemed endlessly kind to him. “God bless you, young man!” He said with a loud voice as he looked up to see the man that gave him the money. He simply nodded his head and walked away, once again showing that gentle smile of his. ‘I know what it’s like to struggle buddy…’ He thought to himself. The reason he helped the beggar was simple, he was sympathetic to the man that wasn’t able to eat for several days. He too as a small time actor had days where he couldn’t afford to put food on the table. It wasn’t like he was rich now or anything, quite the opposite he was barely getting by himself, those five dollars he left were supposed to pay for his ticket back home but now that he’d given them to the beggar, he would have to walk back. ‘Most people would look at what I just did and think it’s a good gesture out of the goodness of my heart… but that’s wrong… I only gave him that money because he looks just as pathetic as I did when I was in the same situation…’ He thought to himself, he was no saint and he didn’t care to imagine himself as one. He knew full well that he wasn’t a good person, that’s why he acted kind towards others… he was an actor and it was the perfect opportunity to train his acting capabilities… If he could fool others into thinking of him as a kind natured person when he was really not. Then someday he would certainly be able to reach his goal of becoming an actor and making a name for himself… His name was Felix Monroe, a twenty five year old aspiring actor whom had no luck in his endeavors despite his name. The name ‘Felix’ meant ‘lucky’ or ‘fortunate’ in Spanish. Which didn’t seem to actually have much influence on the man’s life, since it had been a constant let down ever since he was young. From a broken household he went to live with his Aunt and Uncle when he was about fourteen. They treated him well but only for a short while, soon enough their luck seemed to have ran out as well and they became tight for money. Eventually forcing Felix into working for himself and helping to support them as well. Due to which circumstance he didn’t have much income to begin with, since he’d give all of it away to his Aunt and Uncle. He was a child with no ambition nor anything he wanted to do in life… up until the day he saw a certain movie… The title of the movie was ‘Impress Me’ and the main character was an actor by the name of Conan Carson, or CC for short. The second Felix laid his eyes on the man’s exquisite acting, he was captivated, completely and utterly captivated. He could barely move, staring at the screen with his eyes wide open, his mouth agape, at that moment he had one thought in his head… ‘I want to be an actor!’ However the second he introduced that idea to his Aunt and Uncle, it was harshly rejected. They had no intention of allowing the child to pursue a career in acting. Their harsh words brought the boy’s spirit down… but after rewatching the movie again he had no doubt in his mind… It was what he truly wanted to become. So he worked harder and saved up what little money he could and finally several years later he moved out and began chasing after his dream of becoming an actor capable of standing on the same stage as Conan Carson… And this was it… the moment he’d been waiting for, his thirty first audition. Felix had worked tirelessly to get to here, his appearance was flawless, his expressions were prepared in advance and he was well aware of the questions he might be asked during the audition. It was finally his moment to shine… Even though there were plenty of other men in the room that came to audition for the same role, Felix had no doubt about his abilities. He knew he was the best amongst them all… * * * “Next! Number 52 Felix Monroe!” The man shouted, calling out the young man into the room. Felix walked in confidently and introduced himself with a gentle smile. The judges were Harriet Benet the script writer for the movie, Gorge Armstrong the executive producer and finally… Giovanni Austin the main male lead in the movie. The role that Felix was attempting to get was that of Giovanni’s partner, the second male lead. It was the biggest role he’s encountered in his life but it was one he would easily be able to play… “Now if you can start from the very first scene.” Harriet said as she looked at the script with excitement. ‘Let’s see if this boy will be any better than the others we saw today…’ She wondered to herself, even though they met so many actors none of them had what she had been looking for, but the boy in front of her seemed different somehow. So she began having high hopes for him. “Haha~ That’s the hardest part Harriet! Wouldn’t you want him to start from scene 15 instead?” Gorge asked as he turned to the script writer. “I said the beginning and that’s final.” Harriet said with a smile on her face, she was obviously not planning on giving the actor an easy time…
