Night Out

The next day I sat in class trying so hard to stay concentrated and focus on passing my exam. It was only 45 min class but it seemed to last forever. I felt neutral about my results. I was unsure if I had passed but felt like I may not have failed either. After my class, I went to go get some coffee with Liam.

"How did it go," Liam asked.

"As good as to be expected, I guess," I answered.

"You babysitting tonight?" I asked Liam.

"No, Melody asked me to go out with you guys tonight," he said.

"Oh, okay cool," I responded. I was screaming on the inside. I really had no idea why he was going but I knew the girls really wanted to help me get Liam to notice me. Well unlike Liam I did have to babysit so I got up and went to the bus stop.

The minute I arrived I noticed Mr. Richardson pacing around the living room.

"Hello," I whispered. I was hoping he didn't notice me because I didn't want to disturb him but he did hear me.

"Hey, come in," he said. "I was just looking over some of my work." I went into Lily's room and noticed she was still asleep. I went back to the living room and sat on the couch. I took out my laptop and began to work on some assignments for my classes. I was having a hard time concentrating and began to nervously bite my lower lip. I looked up from my laptop and saw Mr. Richards staring at me. I immediately stopped biting my lip and got back to work. His eyes were so focused on me. His light blue eyes that held no emotion. His thick arched eyebrows adding to his intense gaze. His plumped lips that hardly ever held a smile. This man was truly a man. His full neat beard and his slick black hair combed to the side. He had looked to have a nice body that was always hiding behind a white button-up shirt. When he rolled up the sleeve, you could see his arm muscles a bit more clearly. He was definitely something to stare at but he was 35 and I never once thought he would look at me as more than just his babysitter. And I would be such a fool to ever dream of falling for him. I looked at him as a boss and maybe a friend but nothing more. Mr. Richards quickly returned to looking at his papers.

"How's school?" he asked me.

"As good as it can be," I laughed. "I am working really hard."

"For law school?" he asked.

"Yeah, you remembered," I said.

"Of course," I said. "You will do fine and make a fine lawyer one day."

"Thank you," I answered. He left no expression on his face even though I was smiling at him. He headed to his office and came back with his bag and told me he would be back in a couple of hours. Somehow I was hoping he would be gone till night but even so, I would still have to go out with the girls either way. An hour later Lily finally woke up. I fed her and then gave her a bath. I made sure to put her favorite pjs on. She loved the doggies on them. She would run around with them like it was a blanket. I knew she wouldn't sleep until late so I played with her for a bit and then put on a movie she enjoyed. You know the ones with music that caused babies to try and dance for the first time. She was a very happy baby. Soon Mr. Richards finally arrived. I told him I would put Lily in her playpen as she was still not showing signs of sleepiness. Then I asked him if I could change before I headed out. I got changed into skinny black jeans and my silky bodysuit that was a bit low cut. I put on my leather jacket and walked into the living room. I noticed Mr. Richards staring and I could not read his face.

"Don't judge me," I laughed.

"No, you look," he couldn't find the last word.

"Don't say cute, please," I joked.

"No, I wasn't going to say cute," he said so seriously. I got quite nervous at that moment. I looked away from those intense eyes of his.

"Take care of yourself Sky," Mr. Richards said to me. I nodded and grabbed my stuff and headed out not before saying bye to Lily of course. I headed home and just went into my room to do my hair. My black hair is usually straight but I wanted to add a bit more waviness to it. I added some of my favorite perfume and then we headed out. We decided to go eat first since it was still kind of early. We went to a local bar and had some wings and beers. Liam stopped by twenty minutes later, upset we had eaten most of the wings already. We got another round of wings and beers and as the time went by we then headed to a club. It was nearly packed and it was stuffy and filled with drunken fools. We ordered a round of drinks before we went off to dance. We were all dancing together but the girls grinned from ear to ear when they noticed Liam standing way too close to me. I didn't make much of it. We were friends and we were all dancing. I felt Liam come up behind me and I got nervous but I didn't want to start acting weird. The music was too good and I loved dancing. I began to remember how we often went to a lot of parties in high school. I was on the dance team all four years too. I practically danced every day of my life back then. I felt the music awaken something inside of me. I knew Liam was getting closer to me but I didn't let throw me off. At one point we were all smiling and laughing. We were all having a great time. I think this was exactly what I needed. I have done nothing but work and go to school for so long I didn't remember what I was missing out on.

"Hey," Liam shouted.

"Hey," I laughed.

"I forgot how good of a dancer you are," he said.

"Yeah me too," I added.

"Want another drink?" he asked.

"No, I'm good," I said. I could feel Kim tugging on my sleeve.

"I need to pee," she said.

"Okay," I said as I was about to walk with her.

"Don't worry, I'll go with her," Melody said. I nodded and continued dancing. I felt Liam's arms snake around my waist.

"We should do this again sometime," he suggested.

"I'm not sure, you know I have to stay focused," I said thinking he was talking about us going out as a group but his face turned somber as I rejected his proposal. The girls finally came back and we spent a few more hours dancing and drinking until we headed back to our apartment.
