Obsession

I was just a regular student in my last year of college. I was 21 and looking forward to graduating next year. I had been working as a babysitter for Mr. Richards for half a year now. I didn't know much about him besides him being a single father to a one-year-old little girl named Lily. She was so sweet and cute. I loved taking care of her. I didn't know much about her mother. There were no photos of her in the house. All I knew was that she had died in a car accident three months after Lily was born. I never wanted to ask about her or bring her up so I just did my job and kept it moving. Mr. Richards was a software engineer who later became a professor in software engineering at an Ivy League college. He now is the CEO  of a tech company he founded five years ago. He sometimes works from home, most of the time he works in his office downtown. He was a very hard working man but also a very wonderful and devoted father. All the women in his neighborhood had crushed on him for he was a very handsome man especially his front door neighbor Meredith Winter. She had two sons and was a single mother. My best friend Liam babysits for her. He was my childhood crush and we have been very close while growing up together. We have been going to the same schools even now. He was a great guy but my crush faded away a bit and I try not to look desperate even if I wish he would notice me as more than a friend.  My typical day is basically going over to Mr. Richards's house and watch Lily until 4 pm and then go to my evening classes. Somedays I have morning lectures but not always. I have one morning class on Saturday but I usually spend my free time watching Lily. I never realized I had no life of my own but I didn't mind. Lily and Mr. Richards have become like family to me. I knew he felt the same way too. I had a key to the house and slept in the guest bedroom from time to time. My life was normal and easy-going but soon it would be dramatic, horrifying, and simply the best thing I have ever felt. "Coffee?" Kim asked. Kim was my good friend and classmate. We bonded over our ability to procrastinate and have huge meltdowns over finals. "Thank you," I told her. "SKY!!," Liam called. "Hey," I said back. He was so adorable and hot all at the same time. He had a simple goofy smile that made your heart melt. His brown wavy hair was always messy but perfect. He had light stubble on his jawline but he still looked like a boy, not a man. He was gorgeous though. His thin pink lips made me swoon and I always wanted to kiss him ever since I was a freshman in high school. His blue greyish eyes that had a sparkle to them. "So, you guys done with your papers," Liam asked. I was brought out of my daydreaming with his words. "Ugh, yes but it took forever," I answered. "Seriously, this year couldn't be hard if it tried," Kim whined. I looked at my watch and noticed I had to be at Mr. Richards in ten minutes. "Tell Melody good luck," I said as I picked up my things and ran towards the bus area. I didn't have a car but everywhere I needed to go was either walking distance or okay enough to catch a bus. I mean I could walk to Mr. Richards's house but sometimes I was lazy and not in the mood.    I finally made it to Mr. Richards's house and he was gathering his things to head out. "I'm here," I shouted. He smiled and continued to gather his things. I saw Lily playing in her playpen. I picked her up and she started to laugh. I was so glad she took a liking to me. Obviously, I would be out of a job if she didn't. Mr. Richards at this point didn't bother to leave instructions or directions. I knew what needed to be done and I knew Lily's schedule. I practically created it. Mr. Richard soon left and I got Lily ready for her bath. After her bath, she has lunch, we play for a bit and then she chills on her own until she falls asleep. Her nap only lasts 30mins or so, if she sleeps any longer she won't sleep at night. Then she has another meal and we watch some of her favorite shows. Sometimes she pays attention, sometimes she just wanders off and I go after her. Mr. Richards never asked me to clean. He and Lily are very neat but I clean a bit. Depending on Lily and her mood. I also don't need to cook because the same women who crush on Mr. Richards often stop by to leave a dish they wish to share with him but he politely takes it and closes the door soon after and eats alone. I use to wonder why he never dated again or even flirts with any of the women who throw themselves at him. Mr. Richards goes to work, comes home and does that every day. I wondered if he was lonely but I knew he would say Lily is the only girl he needed. Mr. RIchards finally came home around seven and I headed off to my apartment I shared with Melody and Kim. Melody was studying sports medicine and Kim and I were majoring in History. We were going to go to law school after we graduate but it is very strenuous. I was very hardworking and determined, so was Kim. I was glad to have a friend going through the same thing as me. Even though like I said we are both very unskilled at staying on track.  I walked back to the apartment going over my notes and getting ready for my exam tomorrow. "Ready to eat," Melody said. "Of course," I answered as I closed the apartment door behind me. "How was the rest of your day?" Kim asked. "Fine, like usual," I answered. I took off my shoes and relaxed on the couch. "We should go out tomorrow night," Melody announced. I sighed because the last thing I wanted to do was go out. I wasn't dull or boring but school and my job had become my main priorities my social life just faded away but the minute I heard Kim cheer I knew I would be dragged anyways.
