Chapter 9

655 Words
Adeline P.O.V: I stared at Maverick. I was lost in his scent and his just very being; stuck in a trance. My heart was beating fast, but my body was relaxed at the very sight of him. ‘Mate’ a voice inside my head said, loudly. What.. no. I’m human. What kind of sick joke is this? Before I could say or react, Maverick used his wolf speed, grabbed Makalia’s mother by her throat, and slammed her and held her against the wall. “SPEAK, Sherrie!” An animalistic voice came from Maverick. Her face turned beet red as his wolf’s claws dug into her neck, choking off here air supply and the words in the vocal cords. My eyes were glued on Maverick’s biceps, not on Makalia’s mother. I was practically eye-f*cking him. ‘Don’t worry about it, he’s ours to look at.’ The voice in my head told me. Why do I keep talking to myself? I’m going crazy. I need to get out of here. I completely forgot how sore I was feeling and stood up, only to fall to the ground, whimpering as my body made impact to the ground. “Sh*t!” I whimpered. Pain shooting through my body. I held my upper body up with my arms the best I could. Surprisingly, my strength was coming back slowly. “STAY!” Maverick ordered, using his alpha aura. My whole body froze as I stared at the ground. His order and aura hitting me and making me stuck in my place on the ground. Maverick quickly let go of Sherrie. She was gasping for air as she held onto her neck. Her wounds from the claws digging into her skin were already healing. Maverick walked up, picked me up bridal-style, held me close to him for a bit. Everywhere he was touching me was tingling and his scent was enticing, smelled like warm chocolate chip cookies. I wiggled slightly, my cheeks flushing from embarrassment. I stared at him, my eyes glued on his eyes, making my stomach clench as my lower region started to ache. I looked away, utterly and completely embarrassed. Maverick playful growls in approval, as I know he smelled my arousal. He set me down, just as the door slammed open again and a panicked looking Kyle and behind him was my parents and his parents along with a couple of warriors. They all walked into the room,my mom glanced at me and then when she saw Sherrie her eyes changed, telling me her wolf, Raven took control. My mom stalked up to Sherrie and slapped her so hard in the face her head slumped to the side. Father grabbed mom with both hands around her waist and guided her towards the bed where I was sitting. My mom was back in control. She grabbed my face, “My sweet baby girl! What happened?” “Momma, I’m fine!” I assured her, “I just forgot how weak I was since I haven’t fully healed and I stood up and fell to the ground. Sherrie didn’t hurt me, but she wants revenge for Makalia being in prison. But clearly she’s as crazy as her daughter if she thinks her daughter is innocent along with Jaxon. Never mind the fact her wolf did not agree with her decisions, because just before she tried to hit me, and right before Maverick barged in the room, her wolf was trying to reason with her, but she pushed her wolf back. So she was doing this on her own militia.” Everyone in the room, growled as they turned to glare at Sherrie. Sherrie was shaking like a leaf and her face was white as a ghost. Pretty sure, she was going to piss herself with all the auras that were clashing together. Sherrie stood pinned in place, not moving as she was still under the order to stay put.
