Chapter 5

Xavier

“Look Xavier,” Bella implores name with her eyes. “You have to see the light in this. Lia and I need to go find Allyson, distract her while you guys meet up with the others and finish this! Ok.” I know she has a point but all I want to do is protect her. She’s my mate. I can’t watch her leave and maybe never see her again. As I’m stuck in my head Jace is doing something with his hands.

“Fine.” Jace says, “But you wear these” he holds out his hand and there’s 4 ear pieces. Made from wood and leafs but feel hard as steel when I pick one up and put it in my ear. A zing of magic cascades over me and I realize I can hear everything, from mouse scurrying to the monster chuckling about getting two more. We all snap together because I’m sure we all heard that.

“Fine” Lia and Bella say. “But we’re leaving now” both the girls come over and say their goodbyes and leave. It’s just us now.

Jace

I can’t believe I just let her walk out of here. We can communicate with this device and can hear everything that’s going on with them, while they can do the same with us. An added bonus is we can hear everything for 9 mile radius. Bad thing is… we can hear everything for a 9 mile radius.

My mother abdicated her throne but she made sure to teach us to stay vigilant of my surrounding areas. This is where I was better than Jude at, he was more tactical where I was combat. We’re twins, if we ever rule we rule together.

Xavier looks like he’s freaking out on the inside. So am I but we need to keep our head straight.

“Xavier,” he snaps to and looks over. “Remember those drills my mom and dad had Jude and I run?” He looks confused for a second before he says. “The insurance and mind twist ones?” I guess he remembers some of them. “Yeah, those are the ones.” I know the moment it clicks into place “you want to trap them?” Bella and Lia say over comm. I smile knowing they’d get it. “Yes, I want to trap them. There’s a party tonight in the theatre. It’s huge and old and we can do everything below stage. We just need Allyson close enough to break the spell”

One thing beck’s and I know is that a spell like this needs the caster to be present or near to break. The girls will be safe with people around them.

“We’re on it.” I can feel the others pop in behind me so I crank the volume on the comms so they can hear. Oh troublesome me. “Make the plan and make sure the ghouls know too” I can hear Bella giggling at her joke.

“What do you mean let the ghouls know!” Becca screeches behind me, beside me Xavier jumps. I chuckle a bit because I knew they were there the moment they popped in.

“You did that on purpose” Lia grumbles down the comm in my ear.

“I plead the fifth” I respond to her.

“Now that we’re all together, mind explaining?” Becca asks. So that’s what I do. I explain everything to them while they explain everything to me.
