Aria Hale had grown up believing in destiny. From the moment she was old enough to understand the whispers of the Moon Goddess, she carried with her a fragile hope—that somewhere out there, her fated mate was waiting for her. Someone who would see her, protect her, and love her beyond reason.

But destiny can be cruel.

The night her bond was revealed, the air was alive with anticipation. Her heart raced, her breath caught in her chest, and her wolf howled with joy when his name burned inside her soul. Alpha Kael Nightbane. The strongest, most feared Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack. The man every woman envied, the leader every wolf respected.

For one breathtaking moment, Aria thought the Goddess had finally blessed her.

But instead of acceptance, instead of the warmth she craved, Kael’s cold eyes pierced through her. His lips curled in disdain, and with a voice sharp enough to cut her in half, he said the word that would haunt her forever:

“Rejected.”

The world shattered around her. The murmurs of the pack became laughter, judgment, scorn. She was nothing more than an omega, a shadow in the background, and he had just confirmed her worthlessness in front of them all.

Aria wanted to scream, to beg the Goddess to undo this cruel twist of fate. But even through the wreckage of her heart, she forced herself to stand tall, swallowing her tears as Kael turned his back on her.

He rejected her—but the bond refused to break.

Every night, her body still burned for him. Every day, her wolf howled for the mate who had denied them. And as much as she hated him, as much as she longed to tear his memory from her heart, she could never escape the way his scent lingered in her veins.

Kael thought rejecting her would erase his desire, but fate is not so easily defied.

No matter how hard he tried, Kael couldn’t silence the bond. Aria’s presence unsettled him. Her scent drove him mad, her strength—hidden beneath years of suffering—pulled him in like a moth to flame. The more he tried to push her away, the more he ached to claim her.

But Kael carried his own scars. A past betrayal had hardened him, teaching him that love was weakness. He chose power over passion, control over surrender. Accepting Aria meant exposing his heart again, and that was a risk he swore never to take.

What Kael didn’t know was that rejecting Aria didn’t destroy her—it awakened her.

Within her blood stirred a power older than the packs themselves. The Eternal Howl, a gift passed down from the first Lunas, destined only for the true mate of an Alpha. A power that could bind or break, heal or destroy. A power the Crescent Moon Pack desperately needed in the face of rising enemies.

Aria, once cast aside as weak, begins to rise. The whispers of the Moon Goddess grow louder, her wolf grows stronger, and her heart—though scarred—learns to fight again. She is no longer the omega who begged for scraps of affection. She is the Luna fate intended her to be.

But the road to claiming her place is paved in heartbreak and temptation.

Kael’s control begins to fracture. He can no longer deny the heat between them, the electric pull of a bond written in the stars. Each stolen glance leaves him raw. Each accidental touch sets him aflame. And each night, when Aria’s power calls to his own, he finds himself caught between duty and desire.

Can passion heal the wounds of rejection? Can trust be rebuilt when the first bond was shattered? Or will the Alpha’s pride and the Luna’s pain consume them both before they ever find the love the Moon Goddess destined for them?

Aria must decide if she can forgive the man who broke her heart, and Kael must learn if he has the courage to love the woman who was always meant to be his.

Chapter 1
The moon rose high and heavy in the midnight sky, a silver crown casting its glow upon the clearing where the Crescent Moon Pack had gathered. Fire torches lined the circle of stones, their flames snapping with energy as if the Goddess herself breathed into them. Shadows danced across the trees at the edge of the field, and the air carried the mingled scents of pine, burning wood, and the nervous anticipation of hundreds of wolves. It was the night of the bond ceremony. Once every season, under the full moon, the Moon Goddess revealed mates. For some, this was the night they had been waiting for all their lives. For others, it was nothing but a formality—a reminder of the Goddess’s will. But for Aria Dawn, tonight was a knife hovering above her fragile chest. She stood at the edge of the gathering, half-hidden in shadow, her plain white dress clinging to her slim frame. It was the same dress all omegas wore for ceremonies—simple linen, unadorned. No jewelry glimmered at her throat, no delicate braids decorated her hair like the higher-ranked girls. Her dark curls fell loose, stubbornly untamed no matter how she had tried to smooth them. She tugged nervously at the hem, wishing she could shrink away and disappear into the trees. But she couldn’t. Every member of the pack was required to attend. Around her, elegant she-wolves whispered and laughed, their silks shimmering like rivers in the torchlight. Omegas like her stood in clusters at the fringes, their gazes lowered, their voices hushed. The unspoken rule was clear: stay out of the way. This night belonged to the Alphas, Betas, and warriors. Omegas were allowed only to witness, never to shine. Still, Aria’s wolf stirred inside her, restless. “Don’t hide,” her wolf whispered, the voice soft but steady. “Tonight, everything could change. The Moon Goddess sees us.” Aria pressed a hand to her chest, feeling her heart pounding beneath her ribs. She wanted to believe that voice. She wanted to believe that the Goddess hadn’t forgotten her. That maybe, just maybe, she was destined for more than a life of servitude in the pack kitchens. Her gaze strayed across the clearing, where laughter bubbled and voices rose. Pairs of hopeful young wolves exchanged glances, some already leaning closer to each other as if daring to imagine a future together. Love, belonging, a place by someone’s side—that was what this night promised. For everyone but her. At least, that’s what she thought. A sudden hush fell across the gathering. Aria’s breath caught as a tall figure emerged from the shadows at the far side of the clearing. The Alpha had arrived. Kael Blackthorn moved like a storm, each step measured, powerful, radiating command. His presence alone silenced the crowd, his aura pressing down on the pack until not a single voice dared to rise. The torchlight played across his broad shoulders and strong jaw, glinting in his storm-grey eyes. He was every inch the warrior his reputation declared him to be—ruthless in battle, unyielding in authority, respected and feared by all. Gasps and murmurs rippled through the crowd as Kael’s gaze swept the gathering. She-wolves straightened, their hands smoothing skirts, their eyes shining with hope that he might look their way. Many dreamed of being chosen by him, though they knew the chances were almost nonexistent. Aria told herself she was not one of them. She had no right to dream. And yet, when his eyes moved across the clearing and landed on her, the world seemed to stop. The air thickened, heavy and charged. Heat rushed through her veins, every nerve tingling as if the moonlight itself had poured into her blood. Her wolf surged forward, howling inside her with a voice of triumph. Mate. The word slammed into her mind with undeniable force. Her knees weakened, her breath hitched, and for a single shining moment, hope burst alive in her chest. The Moon Goddess had chosen her. Her. The overlooked omega. The one no one wanted. And not just any mate—her soul had been tied to Kael Blackthorn, Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack. Her heart soared. This was impossible, yet it was true. She belonged. But then Kael’s expression shifted. His eyes, stormy and piercing, narrowed as he stared at her. The heat in her chest turned cold. Confusion clouded his features, followed swiftly by something darker. Disbelief. Disgust. His lips curled into a snarl. “Her?” The single word carried across the clearing like a whipcrack. Aria’s breath stuttered. Murmurs spread among the pack, whispers of disbelief swelling into gasps. Kael took a step closer, his voice sharp enough to cut flesh. “This has to be a mistake.” Her wolf whimpered inside her, but Aria shook her head, desperate. “No… the Goddess—she chose—” But Kael’s glare froze her words. His presence bore down on her like crushing weight. “I will not accept this,” he declared, his tone as cold and final as death. His words carried easily over the crowd, leaving no room for doubt. “I, Kael Blackthorn, Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, reject you, Aria Dawn, as my mate.” The world shattered. The rejection hit like claws tearing into her soul. A searing pain ripped through her chest, so deep and violent she gasped as if the air itself had been ripped from her lungs. Her wolf screamed, the sound echoing through her mind, a cry of anguish that made her stumble backward. Tears blurred her vision. The pack erupted. “An omega? The Alpha’s mate?” someone scoffed. “How pathetic.” “Of course he rejected her. Who would want her?” Laughter rippled like knives through the air. Aria’s face burned with humiliation, her cheeks wet with tears she couldn’t stop. She tried to stand tall, to hold on to pride, but the agony inside her was unbearable. Her chest felt hollow, her soul shredded. She looked at Kael one last time, silently pleading for even a shred of mercy. But his eyes were hard as stone, unyielding, his jaw set with disdain. He hadn’t just rejected her—he had condemned her. Her heart cracked. And then she ran. She fled through the crowd, pushing past sneers and whispers, her bare feet pounding against the cold earth. She didn’t stop when the torches dimmed behind her, didn’t stop when branches whipped at her arms, didn’t stop until the clearing was far away and the forest swallowed her whole. Her chest ached with every step, the rejection tearing at her from the inside out. Her wolf whimpered brokenly, the bond ripped from them both, leaving nothing but pain. She stumbled over roots, scraped her knees, but she didn’t care. Finally, her strength gave way, and she collapsed at the base of a tree, curling in on herself. Sobs racked her body, shaking her shoulders. She pressed her hands to her chest, as if she could hold the broken pieces of her soul together. “Why?” she cried to the silent forest. “Why would the Goddess do this? Why give me hope only to take it away?” No answer came. Only the sound of the wind stirring the leaves, the distant call of an owl. And yet… beneath her grief, something stirred. It was faint at first, like the distant echo of a howl carried on the wind. Not sorrowful, not weak. Powerful. Resonant. Her sobs quieted as she lifted her head, listening. The sound wasn’t outside—it was inside her, humming through her blood, vibrating in her bones. Her wolf, broken moments ago, shivered and raised her head. The Eternal Howl had awakened. Aria didn’t understand it yet, but deep within her, something ancient w as rising. Her rejection wasn’t the end. It was only the beginning. Her howl would shake the world.
