Chapter 2

The ride took me 6 hours and it was pretty uneventful, just a kick stop for gas and a bathroom break.
When I arrived at my new town, I went straight to the Sunshine diner, where my mother's friend Rhonda works. She was the one who helped me find my new place and I need to get my keys in order to move in. Also I need to know where it is.
As soon as I entered the dinner I spotted Rhonda behind the counter. A chubby middle aged woman with short black hair, blue eyes and a small nose. I went to her. " Hi! I'm Mary, Eve's daughter. Are you Rhonda?"
"Ah yes honey! I've been expecting you! How are you? Did you have a nice ride?"
" Yes, I'm fine and the ride was ok, thank you." I said as I sat down in one of the stools by the counter.
"Are you hungry?" She asked "It 's lunch time. I'm sure you haven't eaten anything yet."
"Yes, I'm actually a bit hungry," I answered "What 's good here?"
"Honey! Everything is good here!" She chuckled while handing me a menu.
I looked over the menu and said "I'll have the fried chicken breast with rice and asparagus"
"Great, and what do you wanna drink?"
"Just water, thanks."
"OK, just rest a bit and the food will be ready in no time. In the meantime, I'm going to call Cece." She stated. "She is the real estate agent who found you your new place. I am going to ask her to meet you here so that she can give you the keys and show you where the place is."
I thanked her and took out my phone. I had some messages from my fake friends. I didn't even bother reading them and deleted them right away. Then I went to check my online store and found out that 3 new orders were placed. I need to unpack my things as soon as possible and prepare the new orders. Fortunately I still have the whole afternoon, assuming that Cece gets here fast.
As I'm writing my new orders in my notebook, my food arrives and I dig in.
After I finish, I ask Rhonda for a piece of chocolate cake and as I'm about to start eating it, a tall brunette dressed with a black pencil skirt and a white blouse sits in the stool next to me.
"Jeez! I'm tired! Rhonda, can you get me a glass of water please? And a turkey sandwich?" The brunette says.
"Sure Cece" Rhonda replies. "By the way, this is Mary," she says pointing at me.
"Hello" I say shyly.
"Hello Mary! Mary: small house, one bedroom. Nice to meet you!" She takes a breath and then continues "I just need to eat something really quick and then I will show you your new place."
"Take your time" I say "I still have the cake to finish"
"OMG! That looks so good! Rhonda! I want one slice of chocolate cake too!" Cece says really loud.
