We finished our food and paid the bill. We got up and were going to walk out the dinner when a really tall man walked in. He looked to be almost 2 meters tall, had broad shoulders and a 3 day beard. He wore a plaid shirt and jeans. Even looking p****d, he was the most handsome man I've ever seen. I felt hot just by looking at him, like at that moment all my hormones turned on.
Suddenly I hear Cece say "Hi Jack!" And he replies "Hi Cece."
Cece continues introducing me "This is Mary, she is new in town. She moved in today, I'm going to take her to her new place."
"Hello, nice to meet you." I say shyly.
Then he faces me and says "Hmmm. See you later Cece." And walks past us.
Hmmm? What kind of hello is hmmm? Did I stare too much? Was he offended by my staring?
Cece pulls me out of my thoughts "Never mind my brother. He can be an a** sometimes."
"He is your brother?" I ask, surprised.
"Yes. What? Do you find him attractive?"
"No at all" I lie "I think he is really not that much".
Cece bursts out laughing. "Sure. Let 's go!".
We leave the dinner, I get into my car and Cece in hers. I followed her to my new place. The drive took us 10 minutes. When we arrived, I got really excited. The house is just like in the pictures. It's white with blue windows and a small garden. We enter the house and we are in the living room/kitchen, and on the other side of the room there are two doors. One for the bathroom and another for the bedroom. I start to walk around. It's perfect and I love it! Fortunately I was able to rent the house with some furniture: there is a sofa and a small table next to it and in the bedroom there is a bed. I start making mental notes of the things I need to get: I need a desk, a chair and some shelves. I also need a couple of bedside tables and a table and a couple of chairs for the kitchen. And some rungs. And lamps. I need to find a furniture shop.
After a while Cece speaks "So this is it. I need the deposit money and your signature in these" she hands me some papers for me to sign.
I sign the papers and hand her the deposit money. "Where can I find a furniture shop?" I ask her.
"There is one just outside town. It's a 20 minute ride." She answers "Here, let me draw you a map. Also this is my number if you need anything in these first days." She writes her number on the corner of the map. Then she opens her bag and takes out a business card. "Here. Take this also. If you have any trouble with the house or you need anything fixed call this guy. You can tell him that I gave you his number. He will probably give you a discount."
"Thank you so much!"
After Cece left, I started unpacking my car. Luckily there is a small closet in the bedroom, so I was able to hang all my clothes right away. I also put away all the cooking supplies and groceries in the kitchen cabinets. Later, when I was sorting my crochet materials, I remembered that I had 3 new orders and that I needed to start working on that. I searched for the ordered items in my pile of things that are finished and ready to sell.
Once I finished all that, I looked through the window and saw that it was already dark outside. I felt tired but at least most of my things were already straightened and my orders were packed and ready to be shipped.
I went to the bedroom, made the bed and lied down hoping to get some sleep but as soon as I turned off the lights all of the emotions that I had been suppressing caught up to me and I couldn't hold back my tears.
I cried of a broken heart, I cried because the people I thought were my friends were not, I cried out of frustration and sorrow for myself.
I honestly thought that Greg was the one. I thought that we would get married someday and have kids and do everything together. But I was really really wrong.
After what it felt like hours crying,I thought to myself that this was the last time I cried about the past. I will not allow myself to cry over Greg ever again. And then I let sleep take me.
