CHAPTER 14
MICHAEL'S POV
I rubbed my temples trying to think of a solution for all of this. I mean, it couldn't be possible, right? Maybe they got the source wrong and the information is not real.
But then again I know my men never give me false information, especially ones like this.
"Be careful, you might hurt yourself from thinking to hard." Lucas's smart ass tone spoke up, as he was leaning on my office door frame.
"What is it now?" I asked as I glared at Lucas. Right now I wasn't in the mood. I finally got Varela to eat dinner in the dining room. Which wasn't easy, but now sh'es sleeping.
Which helps me settle a bit knowing she's getting better little by little.
"Heard the men out there in the training room spreading some rumours." He replied as he leaned off the door frame and walked in.
"Although I'm not one to believe rumours so easily, but this one caught my attention." He continued as he gave me a serious look.
"Why does it matter to you? It's not like I can't handle it. But if you must know, the rumours are true." I replied as I clicked away at my laptop, trying to get some of my work done.
"Thought so." He replied as he grabbed my photo frame on my desk.
"I remember this." He said after a while of looking at it.
"That was the day you were told you were going to be the number one killer out of the top 5 under 25 years old. I remember you were happy then."
"I still am." I snapped as I snatched the photo away from him and placing it back where it was.
It was a photo of me, Lucas and Rebekah. We were training because of our parents to be the most dangerous criminal. But we didn't know what that meant, we were to young. But we wanted to make our parents happy, so we obliged.
I was announced top of the rank, Lucas came third and Rebekah came fourth. We didn't know who came second, they said whoever cam second wasn't allowed to reveal themselves. But we didn't take much notice. Although their was a fifth person as well, but he left straight away after being informed he's rank out of all the people.
"How silly of me to mistake the cheery face with an arrogant one." He smirked as he took a sit on the arm chair.
I closed my laptop as I folded my arms over my chest, while narrowing my eyes at Lucas.
"What is it that you really want, Lucas?" I asked with a serious tone as I pushed all he's jokes aside. He only chuckled as he placed a smirk on he's face.
"They say there are people trying to locate all the top 5 killers, something about making an army." Lucas explained as he slouched on the couch.
"What's your point?" I asked, trying to know where he's motives stood.
"I'm leaving, Mike."
I felt shocked after what Lucas just admitted and I knew he wasn't joking. He only ever called me Mike when we were kids. This meant it had to be serious.
Lucas then sighed as he stood up from the chair.
"These people aren't like the people you dealt with before. Their smart and manipulative, they'll show your weaknesses they you didn't even know existed. And if they do end up finding us, it's better if we split up." He then gave a sad smile as he pushed he's back before chuckling.
"I've already told Rebekah the news, as for the second and fourth. I still don't know who they are. For all we know they could already be caught."
"You're really going to leave?" I asked, but he only hid he's sad expression as he plastered a wide smile.
"I've always wanted to visit other countries, maybe this problem will be a good excuse for me to finally get off my ass." He chuckled.
VARELA'S POV
I wanted to ask Michael something after I woke up, but I couldn't find him anywhere. That's when I was informed he would be in he's office, but before I knocked I heard him and Lucas talking.
So, instead I eavesdropped, which isn't the best idea but after hearing what they were discussing I couldn't help but continue to listen.
That's when I heard them walking for the door, so I quickly stood up straight and walked back to the top of the stairs at the end of the hallway. So, it would make it look like I only just arrived.
"You're awake, how are you feeling?" Michael asked as he gave me a smile.
"I'm fine." I responded as my full attention was still what him and Lucas were discussing.
"Well, why don't we get something to eat? I heard the cooks are making stir fry."
I only nodded and followed Michael down the hallway to the kitchen, but I looked back and saw Lucas still standing near the office as he was staring at us.
I might be wrong, but I have a feeling Lucas is hiding more then he's revealing to Michael right now.
But then again, so am I.
