CHAPTER 13
VARELA'S POV
I woke from a loud thud. I ended up groaning and rolling over, only to hear the thud strike again, putting me on alert.
I got out of bed and looked around the room to try and hear anything out of the ordinary, to hear if the thud will come back.
My head snapped when I heard the loud thud come again, but this time I knew where it was coming from. The window.
I walked over towards the window only to see another pebble being thrown at my window, I then opened the window to see the culprit. Only for a smirking Michael to stand down near the garden, waving.
"Morning, sleepy-head." He smiled but I only narrowed my eyes, not feeling in the mood to play he's games. I was about to shut the window but Michael kept telling me not to. So, instead I gave him the bird before shutting the window.
"Varela!" He shouted as I shut the windows and walked back towards my bed. Feeling too tired and drained for anything besides sleeping.
That's when a loud knock came to my door, I only groaned as I got up and opened the door.
"I'm not in the mood, Michael." I snapped only to open my eyes and see Lucas standing there instead.
"Too bad, and here I thought you were in the mood for anything." he winked as he walked in rudely and sat on one of my chairs.
"What do you want." I said coldly as I glared at him. Although he didn't do anything wrong, it's just being surrounded by people is starting to piss me off.
"I just want my buddy out there to focus back on he's work, back on what's really important." He replied as he put he's arms behind he's head and slouched on the chair.
"Nice to know you care, but why not tell someone who has mutual feeling." I replied sarcasticly as I leaned on the door frame with my arms crossed, glaring at him.
"Because I'm the only one who sees clearly, everyone else is blinded by their problems." He spoke up lazily as he opened one eye and smirked at me.
"Michael, he's my friend since day one. He believes in power and loyalty. And as he's friend I will make sure he gets that." I only rolled my eyes.
"What is this? Do I look like a therapist to you?Get your ass out of my room. Now." I gritted out as I formed my hand into a fist, contemplating whether or not to punch him.
"Feisty, now I know why you got Michael wrapped around your finger. Although he's the only one who cares for you." I un-fisted my hand as I felt taken back, as if something pierced my heart.
"No one else cares for you, no one." He then sat up and walked over towards me. "And if you keep pushing Michael away he won't care about you either. Then who will you have." He smirked as he closed the door behind him.
What the actual f**k.
I felt hurt from he's words, but I knew it was true. And that hurt more. No one cares for me besides that i***t, even now I don't know why he does. I sat on the edge of my bed as I was busy with my thoughts.
"How come you closed the window, I was going to surprise you." Michael groaned as he walked into my room, only to halt and stare at me.
"How you feeling?" He asked after a minute of choosing the right words.
"I don't know." I replied as I looked up at him and gave him a weak smile.
He then walked towards me and knelt in front of me.
"I'm here, you know that right." he smiled, but I only shook my head as I smiled weakly back.
"I know." I whispered as I looked down at my hands, then all of a sudden I felt surprised.
Michael had he's strong arms around me as the feeling came to me. I felt cared for, protected.
Is this what a hug really feels like? How come I never felt this way before?
"Good, because if you said you didn't know, then I would have to prove to you that I do." He mumbled as he then looked up and smiled.
Right now we were just staring at each other in complete silence, comforting silence.
"I'll go get you something to eat, you go back to sleep if you want. I know you're tired." Before Michael could stand up I grabbed he's forearm.
"What was the surprise?" I asked, as I quickly let go of Michael's arm and started to fiddle with the large shirt Michael gave me to wear.
He smirked as he looked down at me. "You wanna see?"
"I don't know, I don't think I'm ready to leave my room yet." I whispered ashamed, but he only smiled as he's eyes went soft.
"Who said anything about leaving." He replied as he took my hands gently and leaded me to my window.
There outside the window was the garden, but this time it looked more beautiful.
The flowers that were there were all replaced with white roses, covering the whole garden. It looked beautiful, and it went well with the statues Michael had placed around the garden.
"Look down there." Michael's voice tickled my neck as he was standing behind me, pointing down towards the garden where sat a bench. It had vines and roses growing around it.
"It's a beautiful." I smiled excitedly as I gave the bench my full attention.
"You wanna go out there? It's probably a better thinking spot then this place." Michael explained persuasively.
I turned to him with excitement in my eyes but then covered it up as I looked away from he's gaze.
"Maybe another day." I replied as I walked back over to my bed.
"That's fine, we can take it slow. But just know I'm not giving up until I see the strong headed Varela from before." He replied with a smile as he walked out of the room.
"I'll be back with your breakfast, and this time I'm not leaving until you've eaten all of it."
I only smiled to myself as I looked down at my hands.
Maybe Lucas was right, maybe Michael is the only person on Earth who cares for me. But maybe that's all I need right now.
