NEW BEGINNING
A DIARY OF ME (AFRICAN GIRL STORY).
Psalm 44:21
Would not God search this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
Everyone wants to live a normal life….well everyone deserves it.
Someone ones told me that never hide your secrets from the person who can read your eyes, because the one who reads your eyes is also an expert in reading your heart.
89.9% of women have gotten their hearts broken, they tend to develop unbearable characters but then do not judge them when you do not know their stories. The stories behind every broken heart is more than one can ever imagine.
I’m Winter Jones Adedayo, I‘ve been afraid of talking for a very long time but right now I’m not afraid of talking I’m just afraid of not being heard. What I’ve ever wanted desperately is to forget the past and begin a new life. So I decided to run away……………..
Chapter 1
Mr Segun Jones Adedayo gripped his car’s steering wheel and read the road sign aloud as he cruised past it.’’ Surulere, three miles.’’
The summer breeze whipped through the open window and danced with the ends of his shoulder-length, dark wavy hair.
This is it,’’Segun murmured as the Lagos road brought him to the brink of his new life with his lovely wife and daughter. For months he had planned this step into coming back to his fathers land and gaining back his root. Then yesterday, on the eve of his nineteenth wedding anniversary with his wife, he had hit the road with the trunk of a used station wagon full of boxes from the Lagos international airport and his heart full of dreams for this new life of his that is about to start.
Segun Jones has been married to Kate for eighteen years, they have a beautiful 17 years old daughter who is a mixed race. Winter which is her name, can be described as a half-cast because of her caramel skin color, she was loved by so many people because of her reserved nature and beauty. Starting a new life in Nigeria wasn’t what she wanted, she wanted to stay back in London and plan for college with her friends Stacy and Zoey. Things had to change because Mr Segun lost his job and they had to leave London hoping things will be better here in Nigeria, meanwhile Winter thinks life is already worse here.
Winter Mrs jones called out, Winter answered’’ yes mum. Look out this city is so beautiful and big full with people, don’t you like it here already oh my God that’s the mainland bridge right in front of us I’ve heard so much about it. No I hate it here already ‘’Winter mummurs’’ ,I’m sure you will make lots of friends here darling her mum said out loud with her little English ascent.
Getting a house here in Lagos wasn’t a problem since Segun had a brother leaving in Lagos, Segun had planned everything a month before now making sure every single thing was set like the house his younger brother Bayo helped him purchase at lekki phase 1 which was quiet affordable. Now the only problem he has is getting Winter to adjust to the new environment quickly and getting her to apply to colleges here in lagos and not far, he knows she’s not happy about moving here and she wouldn’t want to school close to them. But looking at the brighter side his wife is so comfortable already and excited to meet his whole family knowing they can’t wait to see her also.
