Iron Rose is a romantic thriller set within the glamorous but dangerous world of New York’s wealthy elite. Beneath the luxurious parties, influential families, powerful corporations, and carefully maintained reputations lies a decades-old rivalry between two of New York’s most prominent families: the Mercers and the Holloways. At the center of the story is Giselle Mercer, a brilliant, composed, and fiercely independent young woman born into the Mercer dynasty. She has grown up surrounded by wealth, expectations, and the knowledge that her family has been locked in a bitter rivalry with the Holloways for generations. Yet Giselle has never been content to simply inherit her family’s name. Intelligent, ambitious, and observant, she wants to prove that she deserves her position because of her own abilities rather than because she is a Mercer. On the other side is Edmund Holloway, heir to the Holloway family empire. Edmund is equally intelligent, controlled, and ambitious. He has been raised to regard the Mercers as enemies and to protect his family’s interests at all costs. He has spent years believing that the conflict between the two families is rooted in betrayal and that peace between them is impossible.Neither Giselle nor Edmund expects that their lives will become connected by the very rivalry that has kept their families apart.Their first significant encounter takes place at an important business conference attended by some of New York’s most influential figures. Giselle initially expects the event to be another gathering where wealthy families exchange polite words while secretly competing for influence. Edmund, however, quickly discovers that Giselle is far more formidable than he expected.During the conference, a question is raised that requires someone with a strong understanding of business strategy and market development to respond. Although several influential people hesitate, Giselle confidently contributes her perspective. Her answer reveals not only her intelligence but also her ability to think beyond conventional strategies. The room takes notice. So does Edmund. For the first time, Edmund begins to question the image of Giselle he has inherited from his family. She is not merely a Mercer heiress protected by her family's wealth. She is capable, articulate, and unwilling to be underestimated.Giselle, meanwhile, notices Edmund's attention but refuses to allow it to affect her. She knows exactly who he is and what his family represents. The Holloways are not people her family trusts, and she has no intention of forgetting that simply because Edmund happens to respect her intelligence.Their relationship begins with rivalry rather than affection.Neither of them realizes that their families' conflict is about to become much more complicated. As the story progresses, Giselle becomes increasingly involved in her family's business affairs. She begins noticing inconsistencies in certain company records and decisions that do not make sense. Some financial movements appear unusual, while information that should have remained confidential seems to be reaching competitors. At first, Giselle assumes that someone within the Mercer organization is responsible. Then the Holloways become involved. The discovery of leaked information creates fresh tension between the families. Each side immediately suspects the other. The old rivalry is reignited, and what initially appears to be an ordinary corporate dispute begins threatening both family empires.Giselle's mother attempts to maintain the Mercer family's public image by organizing a prestigious charity event at a luxury hotel in New York. The event attracts business leaders, socialites, politicians, celebrities, and members of the city's most powerful families. The charity event is intended to demonstrate the Mercer family's influence and generosity.Instead, it becomes another turning point in the story.Edmund attends the event with his family, and his presence immediately draws attention. Among the guests is Lily Parker, a beautiful and socially ambitious young woman who has been openly infatuated with Edmund for some time.Lily makes little effort to hide her interest in him.Throughout the evening, she stays close to Edmund, constantly seeking his attention and attempting to create the impression that they share a special relationship. Her behavior irritates Giselle more than she wants to admit.Giselle tries to remain indifferent.Edmund notices. The tension between them becomes increasingly difficult to ignore.

Chapter one - The Rivals
New York City had always belonged to people who knew how to take what they wanted. Money made doors open. Power made people move aside. And reputation made people afraid to ask questions. At twenty-six, Giselle Mercer possessed all three. She stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows of her Manhattan penthouse, watching the city wake beneath a pale morning sky. Her reflection stared back at her from the glass—long dark hair falling neatly over her shoulders, striking features, and a flawless complexion that made her look almost too composed for someone who had barely slept. Her phone rang. She glanced at the screen. Amelia. Giselle answered. "You're awake." "Unfortunately," Amelia said. "And I'm married to a man who thinks six in the morning is an acceptable time to discuss investments." Giselle smiled. "You're the one who married him." "And I regret nothing." That was Amelia Carter. Giselle's closest friend since university, now happily married to Daniel Carter, a successful architect. Amelia had somehow managed to remain warm and cheerful despite being surrounded by wealthy people who treated business like warfare. "You sound suspiciously happy for someone who called me before seven," Giselle said. "I am happy. I'm also calling because you're going to the Sterling Business Summit today." Giselle's expression changed. "I know." "And..." Amelia paused dramatically. Giselle already knew. "Don't." "Edmund Holloway will be there." Silence. Giselle turned away from the window. "I know." "You've never met him." "I don't need to." Amelia laughed. "That's exactly what someone says when they've already decided they hate a person." "I don't hate him." "You've called him arrogant at least six times." "I've never spoken to him." "Exactly." Giselle rolled her eyes. Edmund Holloway. Even his name carried weight. At twenty-nine, he was the youngest CEO in the history of Holloway International, a multinational investment and technology empire built by his grandfather. He was known for being ruthless in negotiations. Private. Extremely intelligent. And almost impossible to intimidate. The business world had spent years comparing the Holloways and the Mercers. Two wealthy families. Two empires. Two heirs. And, increasingly, two enemies. Giselle had heard stories about Edmund for years. She had never cared enough to meet him. Until now. The Mercer Family Giselle arrived at the Mercer headquarters at eight-thirty. The building stood in the heart of Manhattan, its glass exterior reflecting the city around it. Inside, employees immediately straightened when she walked through the lobby. "Good morning, Miss Mercer." "Good morning." She didn't need to raise her voice. People listened anyway. Her father, Richard Mercer, was the chairman of Mercer Holdings. Her mother, Vivienne Mercer, was a former art curator who now managed the family's philanthropic foundation. Giselle was their only child. And everyone knew she would eventually inherit the empire. But Giselle had no intention of simply inheriting it. She wanted to prove she deserved it. Her assistant, Nathan Reed, hurried toward her. "The car is ready." "Good." "And your father wants to see you before the conference." Giselle stopped. "Why?" Nathan hesitated. "He didn't say." She sighed. "Of course he didn't." Richard Mercer was standing behind his desk when she entered his office. "You know who will be at the conference?" Giselle sat down. "Most of New York's business elite?" "Edmund Holloway." "I know." Her father studied her. "The Holloways are negotiating for the Orion Technologies acquisition." Giselle's eyes narrowed. "So are we." "Exactly." Richard leaned back. "I don't want you underestimating him." Giselle gave him a faint smile. "I don't underestimate anyone." "Good." He paused. "Especially Edmund." Something about his tone caught her attention. But before she could ask, he looked away. "Go to the conference. Listen carefully. Don't reveal our full strategy." Giselle stood. "Understood." As she reached the door, her father spoke again. "Giselle." She turned. "Be careful." For a moment, she saw something strange in his expression. Fear. Then it disappeared. Meanwhile — The Holloway Estate Across the city, Edmund Holloway stood in his study, fastening his cufflinks. His cousin, Julian Holloway, was sitting on the sofa, eating an apple. Julian was one of the few people Edmund actually trusted. They had grown up together, and Julian had become the person Edmund told things he couldn't tell anyone else. "So," Julian said, "today's the day." Edmund glanced at him. "What day?" "The day you finally meet Giselle Mercer." Edmund's expression remained blank. "I've met hundreds of people." "Not her." Edmund picked up his watch. "I've heard enough about her." Julian grinned. "Beautiful." Edmund said nothing. "Intelligent." Nothing. "Rich." Edmund looked at him. "Are you finished?" "No." Julian took another bite of his apple. "Apparently she's terrifying." A faint smile appeared on Edmund's face. "That part I believe." Julian watched him carefully. "You've been studying Mercer Holdings." "So?" "So you've been studying her." Edmund's expression hardened. "She's the person running their acquisition division. Of course I've studied her." Julian raised his hands. "Business. I understand." Edmund walked toward the door. Julian called after him. "Try not to fall in love with your enemy." Edmund stopped. He turned slowly. "That's not going to happen." Julian smiled. "We'll see." The Sterling Business Summit By eleven in the morning, the ballroom of the Sterling Hotel was filled with America's wealthiest investors, CEOs, politicians, lawyers, and entrepreneurs. Cameras flashed. Waiters moved between tables. Executives shook hands. Giselle entered with Nathan and Amelia. Amelia had insisted on coming. "I told Daniel I'd be home by dinner," she whispered. Giselle glanced at her. "You said you were here for moral support." "I am." "You've been texting your husband for ten minutes." "That's also moral support." Giselle laughed softly. Then another voice joined them. "You're both impossible." They turned. Clara Bennett stood behind them. Clara was Giselle's other closest friend. Unlike Amelia, she wasn't married. She was currently completing her master's degree in international law at Columbia. She carried a notebook everywhere. "You came," Giselle said. "I had a seminar this morning." "And you still came?" Clara smiled. "You're my friend. Obviously." Amelia hugged her. The three women stood together for a moment. Three completely different lives. Amelia had her marriage. Clara had her studies. And Giselle had her empire. None of them knew how dramatically their lives were about to change. Edmund Arrives The ballroom suddenly became quieter. Not silent. Just... attentive. Giselle noticed. She looked toward the entrance. Edmund Holloway had arrived. He wore a perfectly tailored black suit, his expression unreadable. Julian walked beside him. Edmund didn't look around as though he needed anyone's approval. People simply moved. Giselle watched him for a moment. "So that's Edmund Holloway," Clara whispered. Giselle nodded. Amelia leaned closer. "He's handsome." Giselle gave her a look. "What?" "I'm married, not blind." Clara laughed. Giselle looked away. She wasn't impressed. At least, that's what she told herself. Then Edmund looked across the ballroom. Their eyes met. For several seconds, neither moved. He had heard about Giselle Mercer. Beautiful. Brilliant. Dangerously ambitious. She had heard about Edmund Holloway. Cold. Calculating. Unforgiving. Neither smiled. Neither looked away first. Then Edmund walked toward her. Julian watched from a distance. Amelia whispered, "Oh, this is going to be interesting." Edmund stopped in front of Giselle. "Miss Mercer." "Mr. Holloway." Their voices were polite. Their eyes weren't. "I've heard a lot about you," Edmund said. Giselle's lips curved slightly. "I could say the same." "I doubt most of it was flattering." "I doubt most of yours was either." For the first time, Edmund's expression changed. The smallest hint of amusement. "You have quite a reputation." "So do you." A pause. Then Edmund extended his hand. Giselle looked at it. She shook it. Briefly. Coldly. "Enjoy the conference," he said. "I intend to." He walked away. Giselle watched him disappear into the crowd. Amelia stared at her. "What?" "You two are going to be a disaster." Giselle picked up her glass. "I don't know what you're talking about." Across the ballroom, Edmund glanced back at her. Julian noticed. "You're looking at her." Edmund's gaze remained on Giselle. "I'm assessing the competition." Julian smiled. "Of course." Neither of them knew that their families' rivalry was built on something much darker than business. Neither knew that someone had spent years hiding a secret connecting the Holloways and Mercers. And neither knew that the woman Edmund had just met—the woman he already considered his greatest rival—would eventually become the person he would risk everything to protect. Because the truth was buried deep. And when it finally surfaced... one family would fall.
